[Fictional] Hawker Hunter FGA.9A RAF 'Desert Pink'
Spinners posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
View File [Fictional] Hawker Hunter FGA.9A RAF 'Desert Pink' Hawker Hunter FGA.9A for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2 This is a very simple mod of the stock Third Wire Hawker Hunter FGA.9 to give a fictional Hawker Hunter FGA.9A fighter-bomber aircraft as it might have appeared in service with the Royal Air Force during the 1960's to early 1970's period with RAF Middle East Command and 'what if' markings are included for; No.8 Squadron No.20 Squadron No.43 Squadron In reality, all three squadrons have an association with operating the FGA.9 in the Middle East area during the 1960's but I've banged them together as a three-squadron wing and clad them in this 'Desert Pink' scheme initially adopted in 1961 for the Kuwait Crisis and then kept for their extended operations in Aden and Dhimar. INSTRUCTIONS 1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the HunterFGA9A folder into your Aircraft folder. 2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the HunterFGA9A folder into your main Decals folder. CREDITS Special thanks to ndicki for his superb Hunter templates used by me to create this 'Desert Pink' scheme. And, finally, thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community. RAF Hunters at the 1961 Dhimar Crisis

Maybe. If the SAS were using 'Desert Pink' in WW2 and the RAF used it in 1991 then perhaps an emergency deployment to Dhimar in 1961 would have seen such a scheme. In reality, RAF Hunters were urgently deployed to the Middle East in 1961 but in response to the Kuwait crisis. Rather boringly they stayed in standard camo. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Vantage -

China knocks-off the Thud
Spinners posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
Cộng Hòa Aviation FV-1 - 3rd Fighter-Bomber Regiment, Vietnam People's Air Force, 1970 When USAF and USN pilots first encountered the Cộng Hòa Aviation VP-1 fighter-bomber in small numbers in early 1968 it was thought that somehow the Vietnam People's Air Force had put back into service a handful of crashed F-105 Thunderchief aircraft but it soon emerged that at least two substantially intact F-105 aircraft had been shipped to Communist China in May 1965 following unsuccessful attacks on the Thanh Hoa 'Dragon's Jaw' bridge during the previous month. These damaged aircraft were used to reverse engineer the F-105 by the Chinese State Aircraft Factory who then supplied approximately 60 back to the Vietnam People's Air Force in the form of knock-down kits to be assembled by the newly created Cộng Hòa Aviation Company based in Hanoi. Designated as the FV-1 the Vietnamese aircraft was re-engined with an unlicensed Chinese copy of the Soviet Lyulka AL-7 turbojet rated at 22,000lbs thrust but the engine proved to be the FV-1's achilles heel being slightly down on thrust compared to the F-105's J75 but was also unreliable and requiring almost a complete rebuild after just 80 hours use. Despite this handicap the FV-1 entered service with the Vietnam People's Air Force in February 1968. The numbers in service were pitifully small however and the Cộng Hòa Aviation Company was flattened by a B-52 strike at the start of Operation Linebacker in May 1972. -

At a guess, experiment with the aim angles. Give it a go.
