  1. [Fictional] North American F-100D Super Sabre

North American F-100D Super Sabre (West Germany) for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a simple mod of the stock F-100D to create a fictional F-100D in service with the German Air Force in the 1958-1967 timeline with colourful 'Black Tulip' markings for JG 71.
I'm releasing this 'as is' as a request from a couple of my friends here at Combat Ace. Only 8 aircraft numbers are supplied and the complex nose marking is the best I can do with limited time.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-100Dwg folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-100Dwg folder into your Decals folder.
That's it! In your aircraft selection drop down menu you will find this under F-100D Super Sabre (West Germany) this is just to separate it from the standard F-100D as I've removed the refuelling probe from this version.

    CREDITS
As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim.
And, finally, thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community.

  2. [Fictional] Nord Aviation HC-127B Noratlas - USCG

Nord Aviation HC-127B Noratlas for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a simple mod of the Nord 2501 Noratlas transport aircraft (originally released by Coyote Aerospace in 2021) to create a fictional HC-127B in service with the US Coast Guard in the 1960-1990 timeline. I made this for my own use but a few people were interested in it so I'm releasing it 'as is' and with just a small serial number range.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the HC-127B folder into your AIRCRAFT folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the HC-127B folder into your DECALS folder.
    3. From the SOUNDS folder drag and drop the 'Hercules' file into your SOUNDS folder.
    That's it!
Please note that the aircraft is listed as a HC-127B in 'Player Aircraft Type' and instead of creating the USCG as a new nation I have just allocated it to the USN.

    CREDITS
As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim.
Huge thanks to Coyote Aerospace for bringing us the Noratlas (the original read me is included to give credit to those who participated).
And, finally, thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community.

  3. [Fictional] Lockheed Nighthawk GR.1

Lockheed Nighthawk GR.1 for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a simple mod of the amazing F-117A by Dels to create a fictional Nighthawk GR.1 in service with the Royal Air Force in the 1989-2010 timeline. I made this for myself but I'm releasing it 'as is' following a request.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the NighthawkGR1 folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the NighthawkGR1 folder into your Decals folder.
    That's it!

    CREDITS
As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim.
Big thanks to Dels for bringing us the F-117A and for generously uploading the templates.

  4. Dassault Mirage IIIVE 'Arab Nations' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2

Dassault Mirage IIIVE 'Arab Nations' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
    This is a simple mod of Veltro2K's Mirage IIIV to create a fictional Mirage IIIVE in service with the following Arab Nations in the 1968-1982 timeline;
Egypt (used as the default nation)
    Jordan
    Lebanon
    Syria
For all four I've used the superb 'aluminio' skin by torno.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the MirageIIIVE folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the MirageIIIVE folder into your Decals folder.
That's it! I was keen to make this readily accessible to everyone so everything is stock and the F-100D pit is used as it's in every version of Strike Fighters. This isn't accurate so if you've got any of the Third Wire Mirages then it's best to use those pits.

    CREDITS
As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim.
Thanks to Veltro2K for bringing us the Mirage IIIV and so much more!
Thanks also to michaelk for his recent MirageIIIV minor update which brought this aircraft to my attention.
Thanks to torno for the 'aluminio' skin - ¡muy buen trabajo!
And, finally, thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community.

  5. [Fictional] Supermarine Spitfire Mk.22 'New Zealand'

Supermarine Spitfire Mk.22 'NZ' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
    This is a simple mod of the stock Third Wire Spitfire Mk.22 to create a fictional Spitfire Mk.22 in service with the Territorial Air Force of New Zealand in the 1948-1957 timeline. Markings for the following four TAF squadrons are included;
    No.1 (Auckland) Squadron
    No.2 (Wellington) Squadron
    No.3 (Canterbury) Squadron
No.4 (Otago) Squadron (choice of markings - 'yellow diamond' or yellow & blue checkers).

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the Spitfire22nz folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the Spitfire22nz folder into your Decals folder.
    That's it!

    CREDITS
As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim.
Extra special thanks to Starfighter2 for the Spitfire cockpit.
And, finally, thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community.

  6. Soviet Spitfires x 2 for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2

Soviet Spitfires x 2 for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a simple mod of the stock Spitfire IXc and clipped-wing Spitfire IXe to create flyable Spits in service with the Soviet Air Force in the 1943-1945 timeline. I've chosen to put these into the 'what-if' hangar due to the very generic nature of the 'winter' schemes and markings but please note that both of the 'summer' schemes are based on real aircraft and include Spitfires flown by the famous pilots Juan Lario Sanchez (Yellow 3) and Alexander Karpov (White 32).

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the Spitfire9c_Sov and Spitfire9e_Sov folders into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the Spitfire9c_Sov and Spitfire9e_Sov folders into your Decals folder.
    That's it!
Please note that you will need a suitable 'prop' pilot.
Please also note that you should really create a new nation for a WW2 Soviet Union. Experienced WW2 players will probably already have one but check your nation name as it might be different from my preferred nation name of 'SovietWW2'.

Extra special thanks to Starfighter2 for the Spitfire cockpit.

  7. [Fictional] Su-9PF 'Fishpot-A' for WarPac Nations

    Sukhoi Su-9PF 'Fishpot-A' for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
This is a simple mod of the stock Su-9 interceptor to create a fictional Su-9PF in service with the Warsaw Pact air forces of Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania and the USSR in an overall 1961-1983 timeline. The skins and markings are pretty generic and mainly use stock Third Wire stuff but I did create some new number decals for the Bulgarian, Hungarian and Romanian aircraft. I decided not make a skin for Albania as it was not part of the contiguous border between east and west and, in any case, it quit the Warsaw Pact in 1968.

    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the Su-9PF folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the Su-9PF folder into your Decals folder.
    3. From the WEAPONS folder drag and drop the AA-1B2 folder into your Weapons folder.
    That's it!
The AA-1B2 is a cloned 'Alkali' missile that I've altered simply to allow it to be carried by the WarPac nations - it's a pretty useless missile but I decided not to perk it up. But, for gameplay reasons, I've added guns to the Su-9PF with a simple edit that you can reverse.

    CREDITS
As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim.
Special thanks to Stary for the Su-9 cockpit.

  8. [Fictional] Lockheed F-104H Starfighter for SF2

Lockheed F-104H Starfighter for STRIKE FIGHTERS 2
    This is a simple mod of the stock F-104G to create a fictional F-104H in service with Air/Aerospace Defense Command in the 1966-1986 timeline. Markings are provided for the following squadrons;
111st Fighter Interceptor Squadron (Texas Air National Guard)
178th Fighter Interceptor Squadron (North Dakota Air National Guard)
186th Fighter Interceptor Squadron (Montana Air National Guard)
318th Fighter Interceptor Squadron (a regular USAF unit attached to the 25th Air Division)

    BACKSTORY
On March 15th 1963, two Soviet bombers overflew Alaska and despite a desperate chase the F-102A's of Alaskan Air Command were unable to intercept them. The immediate response to this embarrassing intrusion was to deploy ten F-106A's drawn from various Air Defense Command Fighter-Interceptor Squadrons to Alaska and to recall the remaining F-104A's that had previously been transferred to the Air National Guard back in 1960.
Despite the excellence of the F-106A it did come with a pretty hefty price tag (and was actually out of production) and Air Defense Command realised that in order to replace the earlier F-101's and F-102's a cheaper alternative was required. With Lockheed's multi-role F-104G Starfighter in a high-rate of production the relatively low unit cost attracted the attention of the US Secretary of Defence Robert McNamara who authorised production of the F-104H a dedicated interceptor version based on the F-104G and an initial order for 200 was made.
The F-104H was powered by the uprated General Electric J79-GE-10 engine rated at 11,905 lbf dry thrust and 17,844 lbf thrust with afterburner although initial deliveries were powered by the earlier J79-GE-8B. The F-104H incorporated the advanced Litton LN-3 inertial navigation system and also featured the Autonetics NASARR F-15J-50 radar and fire control system optimised for the air-to-air mode with all ground-mapping, contour-mapping and terrain-avoidance modes deleted. After some debate, the M61 20mm cannon was retained but the main armament for the F-104H was the AIM-7 Sparrow semi-active homing missile, the AIM-9 Sidewinder infra-red heat-seeking missile and the AIR-2 Genie unguided air-to-air rocket with a 1.5 kt nuclear warhead.
Entering service in April 1965 the F-104H eventually served with nine squadrons. Whilst the USAF's F-104A's and F-104C's had suffered the highest accident rate of any of the USAF Century Series fighters (25.2 aircraft destroyed per 100,000 flight hours) the F-104H's fared much better and were second only to the Spanish Air Force who actually achieved the perfect safety record of losing none of 21 F-104's over a total of 17,500 flight hours. The F-104H was gradually withdrawn from Aerospace Defense Command service from the late 1970's onwards although two Air National Guard units soldiered on until 1986 when the type was finally retired.
    INSTRUCTIONS
    1. From the AIRCRAFT folder drag and drop the F-104H folder into your Aircraft folder.
    2. From the DECALS folder drag and drop the F-104H folder into your Decals folder.
    That's it!

    CREDITS
As always, thanks to Third Wire for a great little game/sim.
Thanks to bobrock for the excellent F-104G template.
And, finally, thanks to everyone in the wider Third Wire community.
