Not just the stock cargo ship, but all third-party ships, too. The new vessels included in SF2:NA use different data format, I guess, so they need to be updated for anyone with the March 2012 patch or they'll stay invincible. I can't fathom why the "Start in Air - Near Base" option was removed. Often I don't have time to take off and wait for wingies to form up, but don't want to start in spitting range of the bad guys...

I went ahead and bought the game, even though I don't have the hardware to enjoy the Iceland terrain. For years I'd been hoping for new features like the new avionics, targettable cruise missiles, better warshops, and so on. IMO the game is worth the price for those alone. One really huge bug I've found, though, is that all third party ships (and the default cargo ship for some reason) have become completely invincible. Guided missiles still track, but they (and all other weapons) pass through with no effect. I've even tried a tactical nuke with a proximity fuse and the boats don't feel a thing! A few other people I know have experienced the same problem. The new stock ships (Kashin, Krivak, Kiev, etc) are all sinkable for me, which leads me to believe there's some new code needed in the data.ini file to get third party ships working again, I hope TK provides us with the cat extractor soon, otherwise I can't properly test the ships I'm modelling. :/ -
Yeah, I have read conflicting information about this. Some websites say the SA-N-9 were installed, others don't mention them. I remember seeing a photo of the Kalinin/Nakhimov (well, I think it was her hull number...) with the launchers in place. Maybe it was from the recent refit? Anyway, I'm going to put them in for now. I'd rather have the ship accidentally overgunned than accidentally undergunned. The SA-N-4 launchers will have to wait until the SF2:NA extractor comes out, so I can find out how multiple missile launchers are implemented. Also, every picture I've seen of the Kirovs has the launchers retracted, never deployed and ready to fire, so I actually don't know what they look like. In the man time, though, the VLS systems are working, and all 96 SA-N-6 Grumbles are in their proper place:

				March 2012 Update is Out
WhiteBoySamurai replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Not sure what changed, but all weapons now pass straight through ships harmlessly. Not just third party ones, but the defaults that this patch apparently updated (cargo ship, Sumner Fram, etc.) Buildings and other ground objects seem to be destructible as normal. (This is with the March 2012 patch installed, but without NA installed yet, mind you.) Also, the "start in air near base" option from the gameplay pulldown menu seems to be missing for me now. I can only choose to start on the runway or in the air near the enemy. Anyone else experiencing this? -
I got burnt out after releasing so many models in a short period of time, but now after a long hiatus, I'm getting to work in the virtual drydocks again. So, here's an early work-in-progress shot of Russia's Kirov class battlecruiser. Each of the four ships in the class is a bit different, so I'm going to model each one separately. I've started with the third vessel, Admiral Nakhimov (formerly Kalinin). It will feature a fully layered air defense of SA-N-6 and SA-N-9 (which I can do since they're all vertical launch), the twin 130mm main gun, and of course six Kashtan CIWS each with twin 30mm gatlings. I've already gotten all the radars working, plus the main gun, but entering in all the other weapon systems will take approximately forever. The radar mesh tga is just a placeholder, as I've yet to start skinning the ship. It'll be a couple of weeks (hopefully not "two weeks") before it's finished, so please stay tuned until then. I haven't gotten SF2:NA yet as my system probably can't run it, so if anyone can provide any code for new features from that game's data.ini files, I'd really appreciate it.

The new features sound absolutely incredible! I have some questions for those who have already bought the game: -Has anyone tried to run it under the listed minimum specs? I'm stuck with 128MB video and 2GB RAM, and PC components are ridiculously overpriced in Japan. -Are carriers sinkable now? (Sounds like the Kiev can be sunk, right?) -Any confirmation on multiple working missile launchers on ships? -In a merged install, do the new features like TWS-targettable Phoenixes get applied to the other games? -

View File F-35J In December of 2011, the F-35 was officially chosen to replace Japan's aging F-4 fleet. The F-35J is scheduled to enter service in 2016. Final assembly and perhaps eventually licence production will be handled by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. This package includes three different high-resolution skins representing currently proposed paint schemes. Currently included squadron markings are for the 301st Fighter Squadron from Nyutabaru Air Base, one of the first units expected to receive the new aircraft. Note 1: Several avionics modifications were (selfishly) made by me to better represent the powerful AESA radar set in the F-35. Feel free to use the original F-35 avionics.ini if you prefer. Note 2: Some essential weapons (some from the community Ordnance Pack, others created by yours truly) are included, but be sure to download the JASDF Weapons Pack for more! View File F-15J skin pack This is a comprehensive collection of skins for the JASDF F-15J (as featured the SF2 F-15 super pack here). Eight different real-life squadrons are featured, each with authentic squadron patches and serial numbers, bringing this aircraft model up to the same level of fidelity as the American versions. (The existing aggressor skins look cool, certainly, but they are not representative of front-line aircraft.) These skins are also compatible with the modernized F-15J Kai model (F-15J_97), so if you use both, just drag and drop the texture folders into either or both aircraft as you like. Decals, texture modifications, hangar screen and loading photographs by Nengajou Aki. Packaged and uploaded by WhiteBoySamurai. The author has given permission to include these skins in freeware mods and future F-15 package updates. Submitter WhiteBoySamurai Submitted 03/01/2012 Category F-15
