Tu-22M3 BackFire C
Gepard replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements

New Campaign Ideas
Gepard replied to Riley64's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
This was my attempt to make a saudi F-20. I had not released it, because the bottom side of the plane is also sandcolored. Unfortunatly it is not possible at the F-20 model to have different skins for the wings top and bottom, because it was originally only intended as static ground target. -
This was only possible, because the SR-71 was forced to use a very small flight corridor between sweden and the GDR or Poland. When the SR-71 flew in the MiG-25 at Ribnitz Damgarten and ... (damn, forgot the name of the base, perhaps Finow, not sure)were alarmed and took off to intercept the Blackbird on their way home. In the small flight corridor it was possible that the ground controllers directed the 25 close to the Blackbird. At no other area of the world the MiG-25 was able to catch a SR-71. Especially in the Murmansk area the MiG-25 never saw a Blackbird. The MiG-31 had a little bit more success. Their pilots reported, that they very often had seen the contrails of the Blackbird, but never the plane itself.

I was trying to build new (correct) airbase - need help pls

This is the airfield lighting which i used in my 10 new airbases for WOE. Its wartime setting. Only lamps at the start and endposition of the runway. I think it is enough. -

I was trying to build new (correct) airbase - need help pls
Gepard replied to Monty CZ's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
When i made my 10 new airbases for WOE i made a special test terrain. Only one red airfield and only one blue airfield. So i was sure always to take of from the correct airfield and no somewhere in the Pampa. The most time consuming steps i found was the puzzling of the single parts together to get the airbase. After each singel set object i made a testflight only to see wheter the objects are at the correct place. If you set more objects it is difficult to find out which object is placed wrong and which correct. The light problem is not as big as you think. Military airfields have in wartime only few lights on. One line at the one side of the runway and one of the other. If i remember right it were only 7 or 8 lights neccessary. If you want to make a civil airfield with full lights, then i agree with you, that you has a problem. Take my 10 new airbases for WOE as example for airfield building. If you need help, send me a PM. -
The very old European Air War is still on my computer and sometimes i still play it. The graphic is outdated, thats true, but the old feeling of mass battles is great.

To make a new airbase is relativly simple, but time consuming, because we dont have a tool for terrainobject setting. -

Was a typo. HideGearNode=FALSE instead HideGearNode=TRUE at the right main gear. Corrected it and all is fine now. -

Here the asked screenshot. Its a strange behaviour of the B-1B. If i take off the gears went in perfectly. If i use the ALT+N button and take then an outside view the right main gear is not fully retracted. Its the B-1B_92 model. -

IAI MiG-2000
Gepard replied to hynkel's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
The cockpit i used in the F-20 TigerShark is basically the F-15A cockpit, because it is the one of the stock cockpits, which has the closest look of the F-20 Cockpit. So it is a mod of the F-15 cockpit. No cockpit lod file is included in the F-20, so it can only used in WOE or WOI. The HUD itself is new. I have designed it by using pictures of the real F-20 HUD. The radarscreen is also new in parts. -

Use the cockpit of the F-111 or the B-1B. For afterburner open the data.ini look for AfterburnerEmitter3 change into AfterburnerEmitter2. For sound look for [sound] EngineSoundName=B-1Bidle_3 AfterburnerSoundName=B-1BAB_1 change into [sound] EngineSoundName=JetEngine AfterburnerSoundName=JetBurner -

Not exactly. From the beginning the plane was intended as Tu-26. But in the time when it was developed there were SALT and START negogiantions between the USSR and the US. There was an agreement, that no new medium range nuclear capable bombers should be developed. So the soviet made the trick to say, okay, this is not a new bird, its only an improved version of an excisting plane. -

Eric asked for a longer runway at Afghanistan terrain because he wanted to fly the Bones there. I gave it a try, made a longer strip at Bagram, then downloaded the B-1B. Its a great plane. Well done. Then i used it in my Wings over Afghanistan, which is a WOE clone. The planes handles well. But one of the main gears does not completly drive in. Is this a problem only at WOE? -

File Name: MiG-21F-13 (1975) File Submitter: Gepard File Submitted: 13 November 2010 File Category: Mig-21 Fishbed MiG-21F-13_75 ***************** ---------------------------------------------------------- I. In mid 70th the egyptian technicians replaced the R-11 engine of the MiG-21F13 by the R-13 which came with the MiG-21MF. The new and stronger engine made the MiG-21F13 faster and more agil. It also does not suffer anymore by compressor stalls which were common with the R-11 engine and the R-13 engine also not so often "died" if a missile was fired, so that restart of the engine in the air was not so often neccessary anymore. The most interessing point of the replacement of the engine is, that the R-13 normaly does not fit into the fuselage of the MiG-21F13. But the egyptian technicians found a way to overcome this problem and make fit was does not fit. So the most agil MiG-21 was born. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ II. The german name of the indirect delivery methode of nukes is "Idiotensalto" which can be translated with "fools somersault". I wont try to use it in a fly by wire bird. The EMP will burn the computers chips and you will fall from sky like a stone. In game it is a great fun. In reality it is something for fools.

Help with ThirdWire sims and adding mods
Gepard replied to DEVIL11's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The F-15A of WOE or WOI is not the same plane as the Mirage Factory F-15A. It has the same designation, but it is not the same model. If you try to use a skin which is made for one model at the other model the game engine is unable to put the skin on the model. Thatswhy you has in game a snow white plane. -

Do you really can fly and fight with a F-16A? ============================================ 28 gun only dogfight missions I. The F-16A Netz is one of my favorit planes in WOI and i know that a lot of people love the F-16A too. I fought a lot of dogfights and scored more than 100 kills with it. Then i asked me, wheter i won the dogfights by i my flying abilities or by the superior missiles? When i was shot down by a MiG-29 i asked me wheter the enemy plane was better or only the missile. To get a correct answer i thought a gun only dogfight will show the truth. So i started to make a seria of dogfight missions between the F-16A Netz and the planes of the period. The F-4E, F-5E, F-14A, F-15A, F-16A, F-20, MiG-21MF, MiG-21bis, MiG-23MF, MiG-23ML, MiG-29A, Mirage 5D, Mirage 2000EM and Kfir C2 i took as enemy in 1 vs 1 gun only engagements. Later, if 1vs1 started to become boring, i made 16 planes air combats. In the most cases it are 4 F-16A vs 12 enemies. For planes with comparable flight performance, like the F-15A or MiG-29A, i decided to make 8 vs 8 engagements. For me its a big fun and it is challenging, even the hunt on MiG-21MF or Mirage 5 can become difficult and dangerous if enough enemies are around you. And i hope you enjoy the mission pack too. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- II. INSTALLATION Copy all files into your missions folder Thats it. --------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Be aware The missions are made for WOI oct2008 patch. The most planes are stock in WOI, but you still following planes. At Combat Ace download section you find: Mirage Factory iranian F-14A, (add on planes/modern era aircraft) Mirage Factory F-5E Tiger II, (add on planes/cold war aircraft) the MiG-23ML, (add on planes/cold war aircraft) Mirage 2000EM (add on planes/modern era aircraft) And at http://cplengineeringllc.com/SFP1 you find the F-20 TigerShark.
