Dont buy parts of the Berlin Wall in Berlin. 99% of them are fake! You can do it yourself. Take a little bit concrete and a little bit color spray. So up today the Wall pieces are made.

Border Forces (GT).

Found a cool russian propaganda video MiG-21 vs Phantom
-

mig-23 Questions
Gepard replied to lindr2's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
The KH-23 was not used in the east german MiG-23 fighter units. Also the MiG-23BN fighter bombers used it very seldom. It was an unreliable missile with a very poor hit rate. I remember that one pilot said, that you must train the firing of the KH-23 some 100 times before you can really hit something. -
It happend during my military time. And we thank god that it ended as harmless as it came. The opening of the Berlin Wall was an accident. This is not widely known outside Germany. During a press conference the berlinian Partychief announced a new travel law and told by the way, that the citicens of the GDR could now travel freely, but forgot to say, that the start of this law was set to the next day. But the most dangerous thing was that nobody told it to the border forces. The soldiers on the GÜST (Border control stations = Checkpoints)and the border patrols knew nothing about this subject. They guys on the "frontline" were surprised, when citicens came close to the checkpoints. While the people crouwded in front of the GÜST the american, french and british forces in West Berlin went to high alert status. And the soviets? The were still celebrating their great socialist october revolution. And who has seen russians celebrating, know what it means: Vodka, Vodka, Vodka. The most astonishing thing that happend was that nobody of the east german armed forces lost his head and opend the fire. And i think we all can be happy that it came so. If not ... I dont want to think about what could have been if only one single shot .... One day later i was sent into an ammo bunker to fill Kalaschnikow magazines. And the air smelled like chinese solution. It was god damn close to a military strike to suppress the cvil rights movement. The officers told us that they favored Pinochets way. ..... I dont want to think about how it could have been ended.

1989 Europe campaign
Gepard replied to Erwin_Hans's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
The MiG-29S came later. This is the mod fitted for the R-77 (AA-12 Adder) missile. I think you mean the MiG-29 (isdelije 9.13) Nato Code Fulcrum C, the one with biger tank in the back and internal jammer. -

Tupolev Tu-128 & Tu-128M Fiddler
Gepard replied to ErikGen's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
In a very very old east german book (mid 70th printed) was to read, that the Tu-28 was a true and outstanding medium range bomber. Today we know that this was nonsense, but would be a nice idea to make this beast to a bomb carrier. Nice job Enrico! Well done. -
To your questions: 1.)I use the new EAW.ini 2.)No compatibly mode. 3.) Some Entries in the registry i have found 4.) In the graphics setting i dont use Glide. The setting is Direct3D 5.) No addons. But i think: I can live with this small problem. I know how to overcome. It remembers me a little bit on an 20 years old story. During my military time i had an airlift flight with a soviet IL-76. Under one of the oilpipes hung a tin and during flight the oil dropped in the tin. As we asked the pilots wheter this is dangerous, they answered: "Oh no.We know the problem. After the landing we fill the oil back in the oiltank."

My system: Windows XP ServicePack3 Pentium 4 2.8 GHz Prozessor Radeon X850 Grafikkarte 2GB RAM Speicher Either if i finish with ALT+Q or finish with EXIT on Menu screen i have this problem.
-
Yeah, my old love EAW is back on my computer. Its a great thing! The installation was a little bit tricky, because the first in the README descriped way to installation failed for me. I got the error message, that something was wrong with a file called runway.dat. Thatswhy i used the second dscriped way and it worked fine for me. The game itself runs stable and fine. I love it! A problem i have is if i close the game and try to restart it later the game wont start. I must press ctrl+alt-del (STRG+ALT+ENTF in german) and the delete the processe eaw.exe. Then i can restart successfully. The other problem is the old one with the mission briefing screen. By the way, how can i get back the german labeling in the menu screens?

Will hope that we see the rocket starts tomorrow. The NASA and their delays!

You would need a terrain. But if you have ever seen the wide and emptyness of russian plaines or the endless woodland, rivers as big, that you can't see the opposite bank, then you can imagine that it would be a very boring terrain.
-
I think reliability must stand over technological advantage. Look to the russians. Their Soyus Rocket is outdated but to bring cosmonauts, astronauts, spacionauts etc.nauts safe into the orbit it is the best solution. Its like to have an old but reliable car at home then a super high tech car which you cant frive, because it has constant malfunctions. I think Ares is the right way. And perhaps we will see a small shuttle in the size of the european Hermes project or the american Dinosaur.

Planes were not widely used in russian civil war. It was the last big cavallery war.
-
Using nukes is senseless. You can only civilists kill efficently with that kind of weapon. Military targets are much less vulnerable than an open city. The question is, what you call "greatest". Its a question of definition. If i say Moked is greatest or Barbarossa starts was greatest, then my point of view is focused on maximum success. Daves definition seems to be different. He sets bravery (big balls) over achieved success. No problem with it.
-
The Ploesti strikes were really heavy, but to call it the greatest mission? I doubt. The air defence of the fuel production centres in middle germany was much denser than the Ploesti flak. No, the greatest air strike ever was the air attack operation on the 21.June 1941 to start the Operation Barbarossa. With one swep to annihilate nearly the entire soviet air force on the ground, this is what i call great. The No.2 were the israeli Operation Moked which annihilated the egyptian, jordan and syrian Air Forces at nearly one day.
-
Its really a difficult job the fight enemies who hide behinde civilists. If i would have been at the position of the israeli commanders i would have set more on artillery then on the air force. With fire finder radar systems you can find the start positions of missiles very accurate and less then 50 seconds later the ari could shell the target. So for all eyes the relations between Hamas missile attacke and israelis counter strike would be undenyable. And i would have not had so much patience with Hamas if they attacked civil targets in Israel. I would have striked back much faster and harder then the Israelis did.

Need your help for Afghanistan Campaign
Gepard replied to Gepard's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
With the help of Baltika and Canadair i was able to find my mistake. The campaign is ready now and at the moment i'm testing it. I hope that i can release the campaign in the next time and (hopefully) then i will go back to improve my Afghanistan terrain.
