  1. Indian Air Force on high alert

    Will we hope that.
  2. All groundobjects (AAA, Ships etc) have gunner positions were you can adjust the "know how" of the gunners.
  3. Storm, East Germany was full of prepared Autobahn runways.
  4. Not only in WOV. You find it also in FE, WOE, WOI etc.
  5. The Su-39 is great! Nice bird. Very nice bird. Very very nice bird. The only things i have changed so far is to improve the armour and to give the bird a different name. Thunderbolt II sound like A-10. I have choosen "Buran", the russian word for "Blizzard". Storm, the picture of the MiG-31BM with attached KH-58 missile is a "Türke" as we say in german language. The MiG guys have simply hang the missile on the plane. But hanging the missile on a hardpoint and firing a missiles are two completly different things. In the 90th the russians did such maskirovkas a couple of times on various air shows with various typs of combat planes. The story with the ARM armed MiG-25 is, as far as i know, the invention of the developers of the game "Harpoon" which was popular in the early 90th. It had a nice data base and a lot of people thought they could believe all what they found in it. But in reality i have never seen a ARM armed MiG-25. But in the game it was great.
  6. Has someone tried to include trains as moving groundobjects? In the good old EAW days there was the possibility to hunt trains. I think it would be also a nice feature for FE.
  7. Trains as groundobjects

If i set them as "Transport" they will follow the normal streets as they are defined in the movement.ini. But i would not like to trade the Lorry (truck) convoys against railway trains. I love it to shoot on trucks. My idea was to create a new category of groundobjects called "Train". But how i can make it, that in armed recon missions the "train" is choosen as target in the same way as the "Transport"? Is there somewhere a hiden switch?
  8. Dedicated SEAD airplanes like the Tornado ECR the WP countries does not had. The SEAD job was done by all fighter bombers. In the first time primary by the Su-7. In the FLIEGERREVUE EXTRA No.22 an article about soviet nukes in Germany descriped the soviet way to destroy western HAWK complexes by using tactical nukes. This was in the 70th. With the new generation of fighterbombers Su-17, 22, 24 a new generation highly precise air to ground missiles were introduced. The Cha-25 family (KH-25, X-25) had different seekerheads. TV, Laser, radar guided and Anti Radar. This missiles were widely used and proved lethal in Afghanistan war. Only the Anti Radar missiles could not used in this war theater, but on life fire training sites it was found as good. The Cha-25 family was used for short (to medium) range attacks. For longer range the Cha-58 (Kh-58) was used. While the Cha-25 worked autonom, the Cha-58 need a additionaly sensorpack on the plane. The Su-22 which carried this missile looked thatswhy a little bit "pregnant". The MiG-23BN were simple dumb iron droppers. For SEAD they had only UB-32 pods or cluster bombs. The Cha-23 missile was only crap. The MiG-27 was able to use laser guided missiles and so it was a better SEAD plane han the 23BN, but not as good as the Su-17 or Su-22. SEAD versions of MiG-25 and MiG-31 have never seen active service. I think it were only rumours than real facts that this birds exist.
  9. My first attempts to make 100% terrains were to double the terrain via hexedit. There was only on or two digits in the first row to change. Then you had the bigger terrain, but the old tiling. What means, that a tiles now covered 4x4 km instead 2x2 km. One example of the differences are the lines below: B0 04 00 00 B0 04 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 40 7F 40 Header of my DRV terrain B0 04 00 00 B0 04 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 40 8F 40 Header of a large DRV terrain You see the only difference is 8F instead 7F
  10. Ehm. Tja, there was really a MiG-24 and a MiG-22. When i spent my time in the "Wehrlager" in 1984 one Officer of the LSK had spoken from a MiG-24. It happend because soviet MiG-27 flew regulary over our camp when they came from Brandis AB (i think it was Brandis, but i'm not sure) to fly to their bombing range. I think the designation MiG-24 was an inoffical name for the Flogger fighterbombers. The MiG-22 was also an unofficial designation for the very first MiG-23 planes. They had the complete MiG-21 avionics, no dogteeth on the swingwing and a long engine pipe. One of this birds was used as training unit for technicians in the MTS "Harry Kuhn" Bad Düben (military technical school of the LSK/LV)
  11. I made a Hawai map some weeks ago. Just for fun, as a test for my later Midway terrain. But it is only a beginning. Textured with WOE standard tiles, no ground targets. Only a runway near pearl and one for the japs middle in the sea. If someone want to use it as a basic, then i will send it to him.
  12. Famous WW2 quotations

An other propaganda slogan: "The american soldier fights only good with technological superiority on his side or with overwhelming superiority of numbers. Take them these advantages and you will see, that he is worth nothing." From the Ardennes to the Iraq this propaganda has proven true.
  13. The Tu-126 based on the Tu-114 turboprop airliner, not on the Tu-95 bomber, if i remember right.
  14. To make them working in Afghanistan terrain you should change the nation setting from Soviet to Afghanistan. BTW i love this model. Shot a lot of times at it yesterday. If you give me the permission i will include it into the next update of my Afghanistan terrain.
  15. Nice. But i have never seen a pilot with CCCP on the helmet. Only the first Cosmonauts had this, as far as i know..
  16. Some interesting analysis

    Very interessting, indeed.

  22. With setting targets into the "green", "sand" or "field" tiles it should give no problems. By the way, i uploaded some minutes ago a fast and dirty Afghanistan tileset which is simply a lightened mod of the original WOI tileset with all tiles for Afghanistan terrain. With this tileset also SFP1, WOE and WOV users can fly over Afghanistan terrain.

  25. Take as much planes in the air as possible. Direct them to the enemy before you give the attack command, what means fly in enemy direction and make sure, that the others can follow you. And if you have to much losses, fly alone and very deep. Keep below 100 meters and you can outfight up to 8 enemies.
