  3. Fooling around with large artwork in JPEG and DDS format. Dunno if they will work, but I aim to find out. The base artwork is somebody's 2048 stuff - Gepard's? - enlarged to 4096, with new hi-res art pasted on top.

  6. The fourth release - Rising Sun 4 (?) I was wondering if the China map was hi-res, plus some of the models look really tasty.
  7. Triggered by this thread, I picked up YAP4 and have been admiring the models. I've only skimmed the surface, but they look outstanding.
  8. A few more first line 1938 aircraft. Perhaps Belgium and Italy can send expeditionary forces?
  9. Been toying with an interesting mod concept that would enable me to use many of the aircraft and ground objects I have already made. In an alternate world, Britain and France honor their treaty obligations and declare war on Nazi Germany over the Munich crisis. Had that occurred, a lot of the action would have taken place over the French-German border, and First Eagles has two Vogesen maps that cover that region. I've been in touch with Gepard about a second generation upgrade to his game map, and he has graciously sent me his height map to fool around with. Meanwhile, I keep tinkering with 1930s aircraft and airfield objects suitable for the concept. Lots of possibilities.
  10. Some progress shots of the Dewoitine D510, France's standard fighter in 1938.

  13. Below is a site that features many useful - FREE - textures. Only downside is they are intended for modern games so they are quite large. What I do is take a screen capture of useful looking textures - they are smaller - and then copy paste the captured wall, window, whatever into my model artwork. http://www.textures.com/category/windows/147
  14. Progress shots of the Arado 68E. Originally one of Daniel's models, I have made significant changes. Suitable for both the Spanish Civil War and the 1938 concept.

  18. Um, are you referring to an effect caused by the CFS3 game engine? I hope so, because in the real world it is exactly the opposite - distant colors are usually lighter and duller than close up colors. https://www.britannica.com/art/aerial-perspective http://combatace.com/topic/87534-art101-for-modders-theory/
  19. Here's a selection of building exteriors that might help? http://texturer.com/sub30/?page=2
  20. Skinning a 3D model is a two part process. First, the exterior surfaces of the model must be UVW mapped - converted into flat patterns. Then, using the flat patterns as templates, the artwork is developed so it will fit on the model's surfaces. I work in Max and have been given instructions on how to convert Max files to Gmax, but have not tried it yet. I found what look like pretty good tutorials for skinning in Gmax at Sim Outhouse: http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?89779-UVW-Mapping-in-Gmax-tutorial-series The church is part of some 1930s ground objects developed for SF/FE that I hope to adapt to WOFF.......someday.
  21. I started some 1938 Munich crisis skins for the Gauntlet, but have set them aside to work on ground objects. I would be happy to send you the 3D model, templates, and skins if you would like to continue development.

    Gauntlet MK2

The Gauntlet was used operationally in WW2 by the Brits (North Africa) by the Finns (Russian Front).
