It's not without emotion that I withdraw from First eagles modding.
Since the continuous release of new amazing content at ridiculously low prices for Rise of Flight,
I can't find myself to keep working on my long time TK WW1 game.
 
As such I release my unfinished project "realistic engine sounds" soundpack "as is" with mostly finnished spare sound files that
modders can use for their projects or players that have some ini knowledge can use for their aircraft.
 
There are enough sounds for nearly all the WW1 aircraft. Clergets, Lerhône, gnome, Hispanosuiza, Oberursel, Mercedes, BMW, Bentley, Rollsroyce etc
 
 
All the sounds are cleaned and reworked recordings of the true original aircrafts/engine, which I got provided after contacting
many reenactor/museums of which I have lost the full list since months list so credit section will come in further update.
I was given permission to share for all the records I worked on.
 
Namology is as following:
"Nameofengine200" where 200 stands for 200 horsepower
M1 or M2 for modèle 1, modèle 2

Realistic gun sounds for Rise of flight.
 
FMOD sound program used in Rise of flight offers unlimited possibilities in matters of sound performance/accuracy/realism, although it's not open to modding.
 
 
This mod replaces original machinegun sounds with high quality real maxim/lewis gun recordings
(courtesy of C2builder) to get the most realistic and qualitative result possible.

This is a skin for Rise of flight's nieuport 17. It represents a Nieuport 24 bis of the Cigognes squadron
with overpowered clerget 130 engine boosted to 150 HP. Nungesser used such aircraft.

New more accurate and cleaner records provided by C2builder permitted me to do a more satisfying work on realistic gun sounds for first eagles.
 
The aim of maximal realism is the word here.
 
First version had some success, i hope you will like this one

New fire effect for first eagles.
 
This is nothing fancy but anyways.
 
The muzzlflash.tga has been shamelessly stolen from Stary's hollywood effects mod.
 
So all the credits go to him!
 
 
I resized and adapted it for first eagles so you can enjoy a realistic and beautiful
muzzle flash as in the picture.
 
 
For those who want to know what they are buying, you can check how the gun fire looks like on this vid:
 
 

 
 
======Instructions=======
 
Put the "effects" folder content into your own game effects folder.
 
Edit your gundata.ini (in objects folder for FE1)

Change whatever gunfireeffect you had to "NewFireEffect" :

For those who use Thirwire's Mystere IV, like me, i decided to make a skin of the same style, taking Paulopanz' beautiful E/C28 nice skin as base.

Installation:
Just put the folder to your mod repertory. For SF2 It should be something like C:\user\my savegames\Thirdwire\SF2 or something like this. Have fun.

 
 
Here is all what you will need for European Air War modding: Skinning tools, 3D models tools and
texture/files decompressors/converters, as much as batch files to make conversions faster.
 
PCX files can be oppened by any drawing program like Paintshop pro or Photoshop.
 
Otherwise you can download the excellent free open source program "THE GIMP" for your textures and pcx.

EDIT: From Col. Gibbon: You can skin in 24bit BMP format too.
 
The restiction on this is, 8bit runs in Glide & D3D mode, and 24bit colour runs only in D3D.
 
We have not been able to get 24bit working on Glide, as it was never designed to work in higher than 16bit.
 
 
 
Note: If you run vista you will have to put the CDF extractor in "C:\windows" in order to open it, otherwise it won't work.
 
 

Graphical enhancement mod for TW games
 
 
Wanna use today graphic features in the old fashion Wings of engine?
 
This mod when activated enables the Bloom feature ingame, a color correction
 
and an antialias filter, so you can enjoy the sunshine.
 
Those settings are configurable through ini file.
 
YOU MUST HAVE A RECENT GRAPHIC CARD THAT INCORPORATES PIXEL SHADING FEATURE TO USE THIS MOD!

*Installation:
 
-Drop D3D9.dll file directly into you TW game folder
-Drop the enbseries.ini file into the flight folder
 
If you are using any clouds mod at the same time (widesky...) rename the enbseriesMOD by enbseries.ini
 
and place this one instead of original.
 
Shift-F12 to activate/desactivate it ingame. You can tweak the ini file to configure settings as you wish.
 
Caution!!:This mod eats graphic card for breakfust and CPU for lunch, i would advise you not to use it if
 
you are under 50FPS during general playing without it. It would make 50frames to drop to 30 frames approximatively,
 
If you are at 30 frames you would drop to 20 frames, so don't be surprised.

Fed up with weird gun sounds that does not "look" real?
 
Fear to change em cause you don't know how it sounds in reality?
 
Here is the solution.
 
JUST REPLACE BASIC SOUND FILES WITH THOSE PRESENT IN THE FILE.
 
Updated new sounds for the lewis, vickers and Spandau. New record method with large gun loops for more accurate results.
