Thank you! Do you know if the Lock On Gold disc 1 is the same as the original Lock On patched to V1.02?

I have the Lock On gold package which consists of two cd's. Am I correct in thinking I can install disc 1 and have NO STARFORCE on my PC? It's my understanding that only the 'Flaming Cliffs' cd had starforce on it. Is this right? Thanks for any info!!!

I'll be darned, there's life in these forums after all. Yes, this game intrigues me. I love WW1 sims over anything else, and this looks fabulous. I just hope they don't pork it up by putting in starforce or something equally stupid. In the meantime, back to 'First Eagles'....

Ok, there's Flyboys. Worth seeing for the special effect, if nothing else. There's the 2008 'Red Baron', not available on dvd (yet). And of course 'The Blue Max' if you can stomach George Peppard. Anything else?

Back in the day I was a CH guy and loved their stuff. I recently re-upped and went Saitek, X52 pro. I'm thinking of adding pedals and am wondering if I should return my Saitek and go CH again. On the negative side, the CH stuff is large and somewhat cumbersome and Requires 3 usb plugs. The Saitek seems nice, but not as sturdy as the CH. I've not seen the Saitek pedals and have read lots of user-reviews that are less than complimentary. As I recall the CH software was really nice. I'm less than impressed with Saiteks profile-controller, but I guess it's ok. Price is similar - $250 vs $300 (Amazon.com). One thing about CH is you buy their stuff and they'll take care of you forever. They really support their products and customers. Has anyone here used both? I'd be very interested in any comments.

I bought First Eagles about 4 months ago and have been too busy to buy a joystick to play it! I finally got a Saitek HOTAS and think this game is a blast. It's just what I want in a sim - good graphics, good controls, adjustable gameplay, very immersive, lots of planes to fly. No weird bulls**t like bizaare controls schemes, the enemy planes that can hover and fly backwards (that's how it seems in some sims) or nonsense like that. It's a very good, vanilla, common sense, playable WW1 sim. I'm going to check out some of the other 'Third Wire' sims.....

All I'm finding are profiles for the older Saitek stuff. Any suggestions? Thanks.

If so, what did you think? Is there more in there than just more airplanes to fly? All comments welcome.

I suppose they'll be flying Super-Hornets now that the Tomcats are all retired. Or maybe a JSF variant?

Just read the manual. You need to authenticate to their server online. Forget it, I'm not bothering with this one.

I'm hoping it will be something like 'U.S. Navy Fighters', which was not a serious sim, but was a lot of fun. I'm also hoping it won't have unacceptable DRM, like limited installs, etc.

Does it support 1680x1050 resolutions? And a full joystick/throttle/rudder setup? If so, I'm onboard.

I've ordered a Saitek X52 pro stick and throttle. If I really like First Eagles maybe I'll get the Saitek pedals as well. Too bad no one makes Mech sims anymore. They were awesome with full HOTAS.

I guess I can give up on my dream of 'Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator: Red Baron'.

I was a pretty big flight-sim buff back in the 90's in the glory days. Red Baron, AOTP, etc. I'm trying to get back into it and am looking for joystick recommendations. CH is too pricey for me these days. I was thinking of maybe the AV8R, or one of the Saitek stick/throttle combo's. Any comments or suggestions welcome.

Newguy1 here. I'm running a patched, vanilla version of First Eagles. Whenever I enter a mission the game hangs at 60% loaded for a minute or two. I'm running XP SP2 on a very fast pc (core 2 8400, 8800gts, 2gig ram). Any comments or suggestions? This is driving me nuts.
