I'm going for IL-2 1946. The US version had no DRM, but it's now hard to find, the import version has securerom. I guess I'll try GOG's 4GB download version. -
Saturday multiplayer mini campaign

Here's the photo of the refinery. Hopefully the scouts can damage or destroy some of the air defenses and allow the bombers to concentrate on the refinery itself. -

Have fun Ax! I tried a large scale BoB game like that once, but I fell asleep! Take a thermos of strong coffee! -
Poor FPS...wondering why
Winston DoRight replied to kondor999's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Don't forget to set your "Overrides" and "Texture Info". They are equally as important as your "resolution" and "Image Quality" settings. You should be able to find some suggestions here for nvidia cards. The ati card settings will be different. The stuttering is another thing completely and placing a limit on your FPS in one of the game files is necessary to minimize this. Look for the info and if you can't find it, let me know and I'll repost it here for you. -
Saturday multiplayer mini campaign

With those two flights done there's only two missions remaining in this mini-campaign, the flight to attack the refinery and one other. Hope you can make it next Saturday for the grand finale, the more the merrier. -
Saturday multiplayer mini campaign
Winston DoRight replied to Winston DoRight's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - Multiplayer
After our long flight in to our new airbase, we all had a quick meal and a short rest. We were pleasantly surprised to find that our new Sopwith Camels were already here! As soon as the mechanics got them serviced, refueled and armed we set off on a recon flight to find the exact location of the enemy refinery. Here's our briefing map: We flew our waypoints, engaged an enemy flight and spotted the refinery. The Camels cleared the way for the Bristols who were supposed to take photos, but the Bristols camera shutter buttons were frozen from the cold at altitude and would not function. We were lucky that one of the Camel pilots brought his personal camera with him wrapped up and under his leather coat. Hopefully his snapshots will develop well and we can use them to identify the air defenses at this facility. -

20 Mar., 1917 It seems that many of our pilots were unable to fly today, a mysterious sickness attacking them sometime earlier in the week. But we few remaining brave souls flew anyway today, sucessfully flying our Sopwith Pups and Bristol F2b's from Fontaine airbase to Friedrichshafen. We encountered a few enemy flights along the way, engaged some and let some others go. What a wonderfully scenic flight we had over the mountains of northern Switzerland. Imagine our surprise when we arrived at Friedrichshafen and could still see the German cross' on the fabric hangars. Our engineers haven't yet had the time to paint our insignias on the recently captured airbase. We also marveled at the fact that this was once an Axis Zeppelin base, and we got to view up close a captured fully operational Zeppelin. Maybe we can find a use for it in the future? I snapped a pic of a few of our planes after we landed and taxied over near the Zeppelin Hangars. -
Is your joystick calibrated in Windows? IL-2 has it's own joystick calibration, CFS3/OFF does not and relys on your Windows calibration.

Tired of the AI wingmen crowding you in our MP formations? I think this will be the way we'll fly our Saturday session flights. -

Saturday multiplayer mini campaign
Winston DoRight replied to Winston DoRight's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - Multiplayer
I did notice that some of the maps were save as 16 bit resulting in 10mb file size whereas the original maps are 8 bit and about 3mb in size. I just loaded the big ones into my paint program and resaved them as 8 bit and then put them in the correct map folders. -

It has to be enabled in workshop first. You have to choose between a custom skin or fuel and ammo loadout. -
Saturday multiplayer mini campaign
Winston DoRight replied to Winston DoRight's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - Multiplayer
I'm sure we'll all enjoy the scenery, thanks Red-Dog for bringing this area to my attention. I'm also looking forward to your missions here. and about the grid maps.... Burning Beard has developed a much better grid map than I have done. I strongly suggest that we all download and install them before saturday: http://forum.combatace.com/topic/54059-new-map-grids-for-western-front/ I've already done so and the new maps will cover every area including my next mini-campaign over the English Channel. -
New Map Grids for Western Front
Winston DoRight replied to Burning Beard's topic in WOFF UE/PE - File Announcements
OUTSTANDING! These are everything we could ever ask for in multiplayer, and supercede everything done so far in so many ways. They cover the southeast region where Red Dog is designing missions and for my mini-campaign in that area, and will be invaluable for my upcoming English Channel mini-campaign. Great work Beard! -
With Vasco's sunday campaign finished, does anyone want to fly on Sundays? I usually reserve this day for family, but I'll be online Sunday 14 Mar. from 10am to about 3pm Pacific time.

update on the stumper
Winston DoRight replied to stumpjumper's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - Multiplayer
Hey Stump! I tried to PM you but it wouldn't deliver it. Is your message storage full? I need to ask you some questions on the Zeppelin. -
I just uploaded another grid-map to the Maps, Missions and Campaigns download area. You will need this for the Saturday sessons mini-campaign. I hope it gets approved in time for you to download and install it by tomorrow 13 Mar. If not, I'll give out a link on teamspeak tomorrow just before we fly.

Signed as #6398. That already seems like a lot of lost sales for UBI. -
Ubisofts DRM servers fail -
Winston DoRight replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
We as PC gamers, and above all consumers, cannot allow this form of DRM to succeed. I am not purchasing titles that require such intrusive and objectionable DRM. If I have to be logged in to any server just to play in single player....... they won't get my money. We must unite and make our voices heard. Don't let this type of DRM take seed and grow uncontrolled like a weed. If these greedy companies see the money they are losing and the customers that are not purchasing their products, they will take a more reasonable approach to copy protection. -
If you could go back in time, would you?
Winston DoRight replied to appraiserfl's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I got all that stuff out of my system when I was 22 years old. One war and some private military jobs after that has left me now with the awareness that I had pushed my luck back then way beyond reasonable limits. Yet I survived and now I'm old having lived a hard but prodigious life and I no longer miss the excitement, fury and horror of war. -

Rudder pedals or joystick
Winston DoRight replied to Von Paulus's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Rudder pedals and TrackIr are the best things that have ever happened to flight sims. Once you use either, you can't ever go back to being without them!
