  1. No, we have shortcuts inbetween the various departments.
  2. This is an interesting bit I did not know. You are a good researcher, JFM. I should have written: MvR never scored in a Halberstadt, before the Albatros D.I appeared. But wouldn't it have been also possible for him to fly an Albatros D.II, when the D.IIIs had to remain grounded? And when Jasta 2 was never outfitted with Halberstadts - what did they use before the Albatros?
  3. Herr Prop-Wasche, you get some facts about Albatros mixed up there. The Austrians built the Albatros D.III in license, but in their own version - at least for the lower wings. They had info about wing failures, and so they decided to give the lower wing two main beams. The Germans did not fly the Austrian version. OeFFAG = Oesterreichische Flugzeugfabrik AG (Austrian Aircraft Factory Ltd.) OAW = Ostdeutsche Albatros-Werke (East-German Albatros Work) So the OAW Albatros is only another German build, made in a second plant. The original first plant was Albatros Flugzeugwerke GmbH, Johannisthal (Berlin). The main recognisable difference on the D.III was the rudder, which was round-shaped on the OAW Albatros D.III, while more vertically cut off in the Johannisthal version. The Albatros D.V was only produced by the Johannisthal branch; the Ostdeutsche Albatroswerke produced their OAW D.III during that period. If you want to see the differences on the D.Va, you need to take a closer look to find them. (For example on my uploaded Albatros D.Va) Now, before you feel stupid after this: I have also only learnt this all here in the forum, from people with more detailed knowledge, who had just learned it earlier than me from people with more detailed knowledge, who had learned... You see, what I mean.
  4. Not as off-topic as you may think, guys! A friend of mine insists in buying me a POÄNG from IKEA (they have two types of these, which look similar; the POÄNG is the expensive one with a change- and washable cushion), cause I helped him with some work. I will, like Hasse Wind, take a red one, with black wooden parts. Damn, the world has become small... ...or IKEA got really big! As for the Roland - it surely had some padding or leather seat, which got rotten away or removed.
  5. Yes, I feel tempted to try modelling a Roland D.VI. But yet only tempted...
  6. The great "Wingnut Wings" website is always good for new discoveries. I just strolled through the photographs again and found pictures of the Roland D.VI, which is waiting for it's restauration in Krakow. The pic shows very well, how they built the seat so, that you could set it back or fore, in three steps. The handle on top of the stick looks interesting and unfamiliar to me. Does anyone know, what that left hand grip is? Could it be a throttle? Here is also a cockpit interior from the Albatros D.Va built by "The Vintage Aviator".
  7. Herr Prop-Wasche, from what I have read, the wing failure problem was reduced a lot by the stabilizer. This stabiliser was attached as a field modification already as early as on the Albatros D.III ! I could not find anything about how many Jastas did this, but I know that Jasta 11 did; and I bet, that this word spread fast. Here are two pics - one Albatros D.III OAW, and one Albatros D.V (not D.Va !), which do already carry the stabiliser. I bet one would find many more examples, because even if the factories did not change their productions, it would be easy to mass-produce such parts and attach them in the field. Everything else would be stupid. (The D.V was taken from "WingnutWings" and is from Greg vanWyngarden's great collection.) .
  8. Oh yes, "My Bonnie lies over the Ocean" is a world wide well known old folks tune. http://www.youtube.c...feature=related "Keep the Homefires burning" was composed 1914. http://www.youtube.c...feature=related
  9. Most electronics these days seem to be produced in Asia - even when they are wearing a US or European company brand name. But I have never seen anything like this. Someone wanted to make sure, that no parts lose contact, it seems...
  10. HPW, I guess the warning came up, because I have previously deleted the "aircraft" folder in "Mods", together with all older mods. I wanted to start clean, so to say. Now the first mod created it's own "aircraft" folder. When I installed the second, the warning came up. The warning didn't say something bad WOULD happen, but that it MAY happen. So I think it was just trying to tell me, that there was already a folder called "aircraft", and that things MIGHT get overwritten. But as you said - the files are all different, and so I think it now works. I have 4 mods in the right half, and the bottom line reads: "4 mods activated". Should be alright now. And I'm looking forward to a great weekend. Thank you, Sir!
  11. Europe is now going into an offensive against rating agencies. I hope they win.
  12. Well, Hellshade, you may not be surprised anymore to hear, that the painter Gustav Klimt was inspired by German aircraft Lozenge fabric camo.
  13. Think you nailed it, elephant - that is exactly what I found out too. So it all seems to worl fine - and it is really a great new DM. (For the FM, I need to fly more tests to be able to say anything about it).
  14. Hasse Wind, there is no "aircraft" folder in the "Bletchley mods" - those are mission mods. The "aircraft" folders are in 1. Allied FM 2. German FM 3. Ultimate DM
  15. Well, I guess the mods are working in my case. The Albatros D.Va felt different enough, although I can't yet put my finger on, what has changed. And the DM seemed to cause, that the fight went much longer than before, as Hellshade said. We clashed with S.E.5a from RFC-56, and it was a terrible scrap! It took longer to destroy an S.E.5 or an Albatros, and that was fun to watch, Herr Prop-Wasche! But then I must have watched it all too much, and not checked my six enough. One... I sent down smouldering - Two I modified into a monoplane, but then - Three the boys from 56 Sqdn tried something similar with my Albatros. I just managed to survive a crash landing (thank you, OFF Manager!), but now I'm a PoW.
  16. The mods are in an "aircraft" folder, Hasse Wind. Just unzip one to desktop, and check it. Each of them has it's own "aircraft" folder. And that caused the warning, it seems.
  17. It's not really an error message - it says, that there is already another "aircraft" folder in the activated mod, and that it could cause problems to activate the second mod. This is what I get (Windows 7): But I have made a testing sortie, and it seems to work. It was harder to shoot the Nieuports down, and the FM of the Albatros D.V was improved in that way, that it felt a little more agile to me now. So I think both mods worked. Now I also want to activate the "Allied FM". .
  18. Here is how it looks, when I first activate the DM, and then also the German FM. The DM line is getting grey. At the bottom though, it says, 3 mods are activated. Does it look the same your end, Hasse Wind and Panama?
  19. I have installed all three packages into the Mods folder, that is not the problem. The problem occurs, when I try to move them all to the right side in the JGME.
  20. Herr Prop-Wasche - help! I need some clarifying! I can extract the Allied and the German zip files into the Mods folder. Then I can also activate the German FM. But when I try to activate also the Allied FM, I receive a warning. Is there only supposed to be one FM at the time, depending on what side I am flying???
  21. HPW, don't worry yet - I had only made one flight. And I didn't test with that campaign pilot, how long it would take until the wings would rip off; in other words: I flew the kite like I was used to do. Now I have a question, which may be stupid, but that's me: If I have moved the "German FM" file from the left to the right in the Jones mod enabler, and then try to move the "Allied FM" pack to the right too, I get contradictions/warnings. I guess I must throw the contect of both the Allied folder and German folder into the old "aircraft" folder? Not sure...
  22. Herr Prop-Wasche's is visible for me, Flyby's not. Which makes me assume, that you may have used a "Private Album", Flyby? If you create a new album, make sure it is not set to "private". Then get the badge in there and repeat the proceedure. Try this one, Herr Prop-Wasche - I reduced it to 2/3. .
  23. Now this is like a most perfect Double Burger, as it demonstrates this great FM and DM work by Herr Prop-Wasche and Creaghorn in a well explaining video by Hellshade. I understood only now, what there is all changed and waiting for me in the next sorties. Making more of a difference between smaller vital areas, and larger non-vital ones, should make the whole dogfighting a lot more realistic. If it looked easy in the video, then that is only because Hellshade is a top gun. I am very curious about my next flights now!
  24. Absolutely right, HPW and Flyby - the use of the personal settings is not at all intuitive, and I also had to spend quite some time and try and error to halfways understand it all. Lou and Widowmaker helped me getting there back then. Your badge may be bigger, because you don't have any additional bit with it. The signature allows a picture of 500 x 200 pixels, but it seems to calculate it different for a square perhaps?
  25. But your badge is also still not visible, Flyby.
