  1. As Rugbyfan already said, JG 1 (Jagdgruppe 1 - fighter group 1) was formed in June 1917 and consisted of Jasta 4, Jasta 6, Jasta 10 and Jasta 11. MvR flew with Jasta 11, which was the most colourful Staffel. You could join Jasta 11, as soon as they are based in Brayelles, flying the D.III early. Then you won't miss "Bloody April", a successful time for the German pilots. To browse through the countless and wonderful skins OBD's skinners made, you could download the free program "Irfanview" - you will be amazed by all the variety!
  2. nbryant, I have Vista, but perhaps it's similar on Win 7. If not, search for the file: ViewUI.xml On the C:-drive, I find my "computer name" as the second folder, right under desctop. In that folder I have a folder called AppData. In there, I go to folder "Roaming"; in there is the folder "Microsoft". There, I go to "CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields" - and in there is the ViewUI.xml Make sure you make a back-up copy of it.
  3. Jasta 71 was one I had never flown with before. So I made me a skin with their markings - a tail plane with red and white stripes - and enlisted in June 1918. Their base must be the most southern German field at the Western Front: Fierentz airfield in Alsace.
  4. Just tested the first own changes on the TAC and the Labels. I kept different colours firstly, and made them less transparent (0x7F...). But I'll try other values, too. I have also changed the size of the TAC to 0.27 instead of 0.30. A very intersting field for experiments - thank you, von Baur!
  5. There are two more meanwhile - I hope to lure some of you guys to try the Albatros. Although I must say, that it can get tough in 1918, to dare and go out in this bird. Soon I will add some more early 1917 Albatros D.III - the high time of this fighter.
  6. After the Jasta 37 Albatros, I have uploaded one for Jasta 77b this morning, and another for MFJ-1 some minutes ago. You will find some notes with them. I want to thank OvS and Paarma here again, for the countless Albatros skins they have painted with so much love for the detail. Without this huge fund I couldn't have created my own ones. Thank you, boys!
  7. View File Albatros D.Va MFJ 1 Lozenge For MFJ 1 (Marine-Feldjagdstaffel) I wanted a skin, that would suit the Naval situation; that would somehow fit with the north sea. And so I picked one of Paarma's skins, that had an overall Lozenge camouflage - even on the fuselage. (I forgot, who's skin it was originally - sorry). The dark greyish-blue-green colours fitted well with MFJ-1's colour, which is yellow. This Albatros D.Va shows the Balkenkreuz, which got introduced in March or April 1918. MFJ-1 was based at Coolkerke by the North Sea. Again I want to say a heartily "Thank you" to OvS and Paarma from OBD for all they have created with so much love and detail - a fund of countless skins I shamelessly made use of to compile my own ones. Hope you enjoy them. To get the skin into your sim, unzip it to: [your game folder] > campaigns > CampaignData > skins Submitter Olham Submitted 08/29/2010 Category Aircraft Skins

  9. View File Albatros D.Va Jasta 77b 1918 "Wolpertinger" This is a skin for an Albatros D.Va OAW from Jasta 77b, 1918. Albatros D.Va OAW were based at Vraignes aerodrome from 18. April - 23. April 1918 and at Foucaucourt-en-Santerre from 24. April - 30. May 1918. The Jastas of the German kingdoms Bayern, Württemberg and Sachsen had the additional letters b, w or s behind their numbers. So this skin is for the Bavarian unit Jasta 77. The Balkenkreuz shows, that it's flying in 1918. The emblem is showing a phantasy creature, a kind of Bavarian chimera: the "Wolpertinger"; an animal made of the parts of various creatures. I want to thank OvS and Paarma for their countless original skins, from which I always work. 11. The advantage of flying with an elite unit is the quality of your wingmen. Make use of it. I have a pilot with Jasta 11 (von Richthofen's Staffel), and he hardly ever gets in real danger. MvR is leading us to high altitudes, and he doesn't take risks. My wingmen react on each command immediately. I use the "Attack" command in combination with a marked target to make them destroy a particular enemy. And I always press the "Help" command every now and then, to make sure, my personal wingman will follow me and keep my six clear. In elite units, all this works wonderfully.
  12. wsmwsm, before you do a complete re-install, you should try the reset of CFS3 in "Workshop". You will loose all pilots that way, but if it works then, you save a lot of work. And: I am running the sim on VISTA, and it runs fine and without problems.
  13. Interesting idea, von Baur! I had changed the colours already, but forgot where I did. Now I will do some more tests and changes. The idea to give them all the same colour makes it one step closer to DiD, cause we wouldn't know the enemy from his colour. I must try that!
  14. Sorry, I can't really offer a fix - but I recommend to fly Campaign. You don't know what you're missing. And with "Warp", you can still get to some instant action.
  15. You're right there, RABU, and so I have written a comment to their review, with the address to our "Screenshots" section. They will need to check my comment, before it will get visible, and so I'm not sure if they allow another web address in there. But it's worth a try.
  16. Besides my flying "Full DiD" in our "Krauts vs Crumpets" Campaign, I often fly other pilots, who use Labels or TAC sometimes. I just had a long and confusing fight between my Staffel - Jasta 77b - and many British SPAD XIII. First I was flying without Labels and TAC, but when I spotted an explosion forward right of me, I wanted to know what happened around me and switched the aids on. I was surprised to find, that some Albatros from Jasta 37 had joined our fighting. One of them got hit by a SPAD, and the engine exploded out of the craft. I might have missed the fact, that we had got company in our fight. Although I think, that flying "Full DiD" is the ultimate top of our development as pilots here, I want to recommend the use of Labels and maybe TAC to all, who are still early on their ways to reach that top. When you are still getting overstrained by the confusion around you plus the handling of your crate, then the aids might be usefull for your help, until you can drop them one day.
  17. Sounds like you are able to fly like Creaghorn - as if you were really there, with your mortal body. I like that attitude and often wished I could do it like that. But still I find me doing things I wouldn't have risked in the real war. 15 months is your big achievement, and 8 kills are great. Much greater than having 36 kills in a month and then get killed, IMHO.
  18. markl and everyone else who feels like this: you can adjust many things in "Workshop" to make it easier. Many of us have started with P1 or P2, and in both versions it was much easier than in P3 with full realism settings. So we had a lot of practise, when we started P3. Still, I found it very hard in the beginning. But that is so very great about "Over Flanders Fields" - that you can make tons of individual adjustments. And when you get too good for what you had set, you just "tune" it a bit harder. Until you get to the full hard way. I recommend this to everyone, who gets frustrated too often: - use the Labels, TAC etc. to just get started and to get a feeling for the whole difficult flying and fighting - switch off wind, switch down Flak etc., to learn flying and orientation in the air. No need to be ashamed - the real life pilots had training before (well, not too much for the British). You WILL reach the point, where you WANT to do it the hard way. Grow there - without anger.
  19. No, the guys in Texas never hunt anything below the size of a T. Rex - at least they wouldn't tell. Those poor little birds do hopefully taste good at least? Otherwise it would be a sordid tale.
  20. View File Albatros D.V Jasta 37 This skin was created after Ernst Udet's D.V skin as made by Paarma / OBD. You may fly it at Udet's side in Jasta 37, Phalempin, in summer 1917. Enjoy! 21. There will be more years with more calendars. One day there may even be a Spad for nbryant and a Snipe for Widowmaker.
  22. I have uploaded my silver Albatros D.V from Jasta 37 for all to use (see: Reports from the Front). It needs to be checked by the admins, but may be available tomorrow. The original skin was that of Udet, made by Paarma, whom I want to thank for all his great work. I will add more skins on Sunday - I need to make screenshots of the others first.

  24. Winder: I am at a loss as to the purpose of this poll.... I simply assumed, that British_eh only wanted to know, how many kills everyone else makes per sortie. That's why I clicked my results. But you are of course absolutely right: with all the different possible choices of settings in workshop, it would need to be written down more exact.
  25. The device costs something like 350,- Dollar, if I remember right. Wearing glasses and beeing rather non-wealthy, I will stay with TrackIR and just buy me a wider 22" monitor.
