  1. Yes, the second is what I want, and using the rubber is one possible thing, I knew. But the leaden letters were often squashed slightly, or they got a jagged edge somewhere. So if there was a sort of "grunge filter", that could produce such effects randomly, it would be great.
  2. It isn't the typewriter fonts, Mike. Hasse Wind meant the pre-printed type; the typesetter's letters. Today, they are Laserprints, sharp and clear. Back in those days, type letters were made of lead and put together for print. After some printings, the letters wore off slightly (too high printing pressure was one reason). Now I need a way for Photoshop or Corel Draw, with which I can make any type look slightly old and very subtly damaged. I haven't found one yet.
  3. Yeah, okay, Hasse Wind. If you know an easy way to make typo text look like those prints - slightly worn off letters - then I will be gratefull. I tried several things in Photoshop, but none was acceptable.
  4. Yeah, this video is so much better, Toadvine! I added the address above, cause it could be easily overlooked in this post. Thanks!
  5. For all, who haven't got the book of Udet, and who want to know how a German claim looked: Interesting is the expression "stinking" or "smelling" for a craft, that probably pulled a trail of smoke, or at least fumes of petrol and hot oil. I tried to translate it: After shooting down the first D.H.9, I attacked the Geschwader again, which was on it's return flight. I shot the middle D.H.9 first stinking (smelling), and right after that burning. The blaze partially decreased and re-fanned again. The crash happened in the area south of Metz.
  6. Widowmaker in top-form again! But you're right, greed is definitely a major factor. Greed, and the fact that it doesn't seem to be quenchable for so many of these diggers. I wish, they could really find peace and enjoyment in something, love for something or someone. Then it would be enough to have a wife and kids, a home, a garden, a car or motorbike, or maybe even both, that's okay still - and something like "Over Flanders fields" What I mean is - greed seems to be the desperate attempt to fill a hole inside you, were the love should be.
  7. For all, who don't know how TrackIR works - this demo shows it pretty well. I had a different link here first, but Toadvine came up with this one, which is so much better! (By the way: the name of the player is a good joke!)
  8. Did you try IL-2's Pacific Fighters (don't know the exact name)? I found that was very good. I loved the "Frank" - best fighter to tango with Hellcats, Lightnings and Corsairs. The George is devastating like a Focke-Wulf with cannons - but has very limited amount of ammo. Thanks for the tip, Bullethead - don't know "Aces High" at all yet.
  9. One is with dogs, the other with turkeys? No?
  10. Haha! Yes, hugesyman, this must be one of the best known picture websites round here! Good you also found your way to it! Take your time to see it all through - there is lots of stuff!
  11. Well, he isn't totally lost - I regard him as retired after a bad phosgenic blood toxication from a tracer in the left foot. So he will even survive the war as a "Blue Max" hero.
  12. Widow, you speak my heart: Microprose "1942 Pacific Air War" - even the Microprose logo at the start was a great show!
  13. I will install the new, non-Beta version of Catalyst driver 10.3 today. Give me one more flight, before I give you my settings after that, okay?
  14. Well, we had that debate before, but I'll repeat myself once more: If you watch the movie without even thinking it was about MvR (who was a totally different character), you can see an interesting picture about some German Jasta, maybe. Still though, these actors are more "Flyboys" than RL Prussian officers of those days. I liked most of the flying and air combat scenes (except the impossible dives with the Albatros, and some too fast tempo here and there).
  15. Perhaps you must allow for Force Feedback? Did you check "Workshop" settings?
  16. Gentlemen, please - I wanted this thread to make each other "look over his garden wall". Not for political debates, but just to realise, that others may have similar situations. So I'd be glad if we could stop analysing the political aspects. Thanks all!
  17. Barkhorn: The Hien was often mistaken for a Bf-109 by American pilots in the Pacific No wonder - it had the same Daimler Benz engine, maybe a license-built one.
  18. Wow - and here's a Bf 109 E in flight - the "Battle of Britain" one, how it should have looked in the film (instead of the Hispano-Suiza). Also never seen one before, flying. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RdRVIm8VHQ&feature=related
  19. Never saw a "Hien" in flight; I always thought, there weren't any left. So, although this is a very short video - they look phantastic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOnHKO_Y_n0&feature=grec
  20. Looking through those pics, I again realised, what a wonderfully made landscape we have in OFF !
  21. Hey, this is become the "Homebrew Poet's Little Workshop" here, isn't it?
  22. JFM and Bullethead - that was wonderfull! (What's PTSD therapy?) Von Paulus, music in general, and particularly the "Goldberg Variations" on Bach, isn't a bad way to overcome momentary negative feelings. Congrats, Rickitycrate! Good one, Jarhead! (Hope he'll never need the addresses!)
  23. This is not meant to be or to become a political thread. I only wonder every late evening, when I watch the main evening news, if there is anywhere on earth a place with no economic problems. It seems, that a lot of money was burnt in the world wide financial crisis, and more may follow, before it can get reformed. Even the big USA have many existencial problems; Greece is deep in the red numbers, but also Poland, Ireland, and most other European countries. Germany, although still regarded as a stronghold in Europe, has just made the biggest new indebtedness in it's history. Everone everywhere in the world seems to be trying to make ends meet. And so I often wonder, when I'm sitting there on my sofa: can you all sleep? Sometimes, I don't even want to see the news anymore, and then I still keep watching them. And it may sound strange: but to see, that it seems to be the same almost everywhere; that you all may have the same problems, where ever you live, comforts me a little bit. Hope you won't get that wrong. I wish you all a good night - and a sound sleep, despite of all that.
