  1. Sorry, but not ALL the Tripes of RNAS shoot down Albatros all the time. When they come across my flight, they are usually missing several planes and pilots after that. And I fly an Albatros DIII. But you're right, Dej - a great turn fighter that is.
  2. http://www.eads.com/1024/de/eads/history/a...tros_D_III.html Just had a look at Albatros DII pictures at the EADS site again, and found, that the OFF modellers and skinners have done a good job here, too. Here is one picture, where it looks like the fuselage is shaded darker above the mid line, and also mottled. The cowling looks painted in a bright colour. And below the cowling, the nose looks darker than the rest of fuselage (can't be a shadow, as sun comes from above left nose side). Does any one of the skinners know more about that?
  3. Update 7/19/09 v- 12:58 The maps are in post 1 of this thread. Australia gettin' crowded!
  4. Update 7/19/09 - 12:12 New member in Kansas. Edit: 12:23 ...and one in Nottingham. The maps are in post 1 of this thread.
  5. Pol: ...worse than the Albatros Vott? As iff zee Albatros vass bad?? I am havink ze finest hours in meine Albatros, mein Herr! Tch! Grmmmbbbll!!!
  6. Parachutes did exist earlier, but were only supplied late in the war (at least on German side). It is pretty cynical. First pilots didn't get them, cause high command was afraid, they'd give up the expensive crates too easily. Later in the war, German pilots got rare - now they got them! But those chutes were rather badly packed, it seems. Several pilots died, cause they wouldn't come out.
  7. Ah, I see - a Kingfisher would be Eisvogel in German. This animal we call Schnabeltier ('bill animal' so to say). It looks really cute - never saw such a close picture of them. They show perfectly well, how nature does vary it's solutions for survival problems. Thanks for posting.
  8. Right, Dej, for QC flights, I created a guy named Test Dummy - that way I can't get wrong accidently. Condor, you don't get a kill, if someone else pumped more lead into the opponent than you - even if he did before you. At least that's how it seems to me after all I saw. If you made kills, the claim report window will bump up automaticly - don't worry. Another reason why it does not appear sometimes: when there are no witnesses.
  9. Hey, Paul, welcome here, to a wonderful community - I wouldn't want to miss them. A friend of mine here in Berlin got his DVD in a week, so yours should be there soon. For multiplayer games, Sitting Duck is one name to remember.
  10. I came to OFF by typing into the Google box: "WW1 air combat simulation" (or similar). I didn't believe, there was stuff I had never heard of. So I had a closer look at OFF. That was similarly successful like when you have a closer look at the girl, who will later be the ONE.
  11. Hi, az12121 Are you OFF Pilot? Cause, then I'd add you to the map. Oh, and: our moderators here are of a different kind.
  12. Have done already. Not crumpets, but those other guys with the accents over some letters. I downed no less but six of them - one was an ace - in a scramble. You're right - winning a fight brightens up the mood. Will go for another now!
  13. Welcome here, W Mitty! You entered a long-time relationship; one of those rare sims, that really provide you with a whole athmosphere. You'll read the word 'immersion' here again and again. That's what BHaH creates. If you give me your home town and state, I will add you to my OFF Pilots map.
  14. Yes, but for OFFers it is really funny. I was in a dull mood, when I first saw it - feel much better now.
  15. I think, that's a Kookaburra (or how it's spelt) - related to our jaybird, as far as I know. The only strange thing about Australia seems to be to me, that they live headover (Lol!)
  16. A fascinating insight by someonewho has really flown the craft. Thank you!
  17. I have the suspicion, that the writers at gamer mags are often lazy bums, who are just waiting to get flattered by the companies, get the sim plus godknowswhat for free and their pleasure. If a sim is made the untypical way, with not much money behind it, and no big advertising, they don't even seem to notice it - which would be exactly what I expected of them: to be shown the treasures, that I wouldn't find so easily myself.
  18. Hey, don't get me wrong, muesli! I'm not one of the devs or admins here, and I didn't mean to kick you out. It's only my map, showing OFF Pilots, were I will take your name out, until you fly it. Alright? Wasn't meant at all rude or such. You're welcome to stay here.
  19. Okay, I don't want to spoil it for the one who made it. I just forced myself to watch it without sound on, and of course it is funny - well thought out.
  20. No, sorry, but OFF flyers only. But as a sim flyer he might have CFS3 already. So it would be the absolutely mega-best he could do with it: get OFF - since I fly it, I don't need another sim (except maybe Oleg Maddox' "Battle of Britain", whenever that may ready...)
  21. Wow, the second shot is great - altough it always hurts me, to see an Albatros getting shot at...
  22. Oh me oh my - couldn't you get OFF? As a sim flyer, you'll love it! (Cause, otherwise I would have to erase you out of our map - I'm sorry).
  23. Well, McCarty, if your name is Stachel, you are wery vellcome in my Jasta 1. Vee are based at Vivaise field, in early May 1917.
