  1. The trouble I had getting to field (see thread: Can't go to field!) seemed solved (thanks to Madmatt again!), and I wanted to do a flight to be sure. So I picked my Halberstadt pilot, who had not seen any action yet. We went on an artillery spotting mission, but I didn't remember to note anything. Arriving at the lines, we were attacked by at least 6 Nieuport planes from RNAS-1. Two of them were Nieuport 17 Lewis, flown by aces. Whilst flight 1, lead by Manfred von Richthofen, climbed up towards the waiting Nupes, our flight tangled with those, that had come down. One ace, Roderic S 'Breguet' Dallas, turned with me now. I called me wing for help, and that got him out of our tango. I got behind him, when he tried to attack my wingman, and tried to shoot at him. But that is not so easy with a Halby - aiming and shooting are very different to the planes I knew! But I got into it, and Roderic experienced to get sieved by a German single gunner. Great with Nupes - they are so fragile! He didn't last long and crashed. That would have been enough for me, but there was more to come. I could shoot two more Nieuport 11 down. And all that under MvR's nose, who didn't have a single kill! When the claim report appeared, I found, I didn't have the names of my wingies! Was about to dump them claims, when I suddenly had an idea: flight 1 was always around and above us. And I had two names. Manfred von Richthofen, and Max Ritter von Mueller. So I filled those in. Now I wonder, if I will get those confirmed...
  2. Madmatt, you solved my problem! And I'm so grateful, I could keep my pilots! The problem occured before; like this: I pressed "go to field!", weather report came, voice: "Contact! Clear!" came, and then the screen "WW1 world initialising..." - but it was only half there, cause too large. I had then used the "monkey-grip", cause I couldn't get to any button at all. After restarting the game, I had then first checked resolution in Workshop, and found it set wrong suddenly. I put it right, and everything went alright again. This happenend several times. This new "version" of the accident didn't show me the "WW1 world initialising..." at all, but threw me right back to the briefing room; again and again. But it was the same reason: the resolution had changed to 800 x 600 this time. Maybe, nothing worked, cause I have disabled any other resolution but 1280 x 1024 x 32, in the overrides. So, here's the solution, thanks to you, Madmatt!
  3. And fun is the best engine. I have surely learned more about my Photoshop through this skinning job, than in my graphic work before.
  4. The dev team surely want themselves to get some more planes into BHaH, but such models take long to build perfectly. I dare to guess, that they already work on ideas in that direction. The Americans want the Nieuport 28. For the Germans, it could be early Fokkers, or late war Fokker D VIII, or Siemens-Schuckert D III. The British seem to want the Sopwith Snipe mostly. And the French, having the good Nupe 28 to share with the Americans already, might get an additional Morane Parasol. An add-on package with these planes couldn't be free, and most of us, who want those planes, would be willing to pay for them - no question. They may come one day - but until then, I have enough planes yet to experience.
  5. OvS, Paarma, Makai, Sandbagger and Polovski could tell you better, how they are done; but I think, the main upper wing is just done a bit larger on the edges, than necessary. So, the parts, were they overlapp with other parts, are not really seen later on the 3D model. Also, you may see, that the fuselage shows two left sides. The upper one will appear mirrored on the 3D model. So, if you want to write something on it, you must mirror it for the upper fuselage.
  6. Yes, there is so much to do! I have by now flown all Albatros versions, except the D Va 200, in campaign. In addition, I have now started one Halberstadt and one Fokker Dr.1 campaigns. Then there would be still the D VII and D VII F to fly, before I could even say, I'm through with the Germans. So, then the whole wide field of Allied planes was yet to come!
  7. Hey, that's a nice designed binder, Jim. Wish I had collected all, that we've had available already.
  8. Okay, Madmatt, I'll try that tomorrow. Because I recently had it twice, that the game's resolution had changed by itself. I went to field, and the screen with the writing on, that tells you, that the game initialises, was suddenly huge and only half visible. I could only do the monkey-grip, and start my rig new. When I looked into the resolution, it was wrong set. Without me doing anything on it. I set it back, and could play. You may have put the finger on something there. I'll try it, as I said.
  9. Not in combat, I hope? Lol!!!
  10. Hauksbee - good grief! It isn't ingame. You go to your windows explorer or wereever you look for your drives and folders. If your game was on D:games, you go there, go to the game's folder, in there, you go to the folder "campaign", there to "campaign data", there to "skins". If you want to look at the skins, you must google for the free "DXTBmp". With that, you can browse through the "skins" folder. Downloaded skins are just thrown into "skins" (after un-zipping), then write down their name, and choose this later ingame.
  11. I'm still playing in "English (USA)" language settings. Auto updates? Were's that?
  12. You'll get your Fokkers historically correct; so, if Jasta 10 had them, you'll get them. But new planes? Why is everybody so keen on new planes? Have you really flown all the planes and their various types in here? For me, that may take years, to really get to good results with each type. So, I don't mind, if they throw new planes in - but I don't need them urgently.
  13. Widow's son is rather 12 or so (judged from the photo/memory), but Cameljockey's son is around 3 I think it was. But for a poll question, you only have 15 subquestion fields max., so I had to make the best of it.
  14. Nobody wants to age - but no one wants to die young, either. But in BHaH you have the chance to let fate decide that for you. So, climb your crate and have a sortie!
  15. No, doesn't work either. Tried to, with three pilots - no way.
  16. ...umm not that I have a vested interest or anything mind you Good you mentioned that; I could have mistaken you.
  17. Tried a second pilot - no way! I just can't get to the field!
  18. Well, Hasse, the SPAD XIII or the Albatros (all versions) ARE armed to the teeth. Both plane have the maximum armament of their time with TWO machine guns. On an Albatros D Va, you even get 1.100 rounds! You can literally shredder planes with these armes! I mostly fly the Albatros, cause she's a mix of both tactics (although not perfect on any of them - Lol!) The German turn fighter to recommend is the Fokker Dr.1 - when you learn how to handle an "instable plane". she will be a dream of a turn fighter. Try it! PS/Edit: and don't compare the WW1 crates to those of WW2. That's useless, as they never had to fight each other.
  19. My Fokker Dr.1 pilot is flying with Jasta 6 in Lieu-St.-Amand, Jan. 1918, He has had two successful flights, with 8 claims right now. Now, I tried to make another flight, but can't get to field! Each time I press "Go to field!", I get the weather forecast, then the voice shouting "Contact! Clear!" - and whoosh! - an I back to another briefing. I tried it three times now - it just doesn't work. Any ideas, anyone? I don't want to reset CFS3, because I would loose this pilot. So, if you say, there's no other way - how could I save my pilot, before I do so? Cause - any other way, it would be inacceptable for me.
  20. Hahaha!! Yes - if I had to grow up to my real age, I would have to live the lot of years again!
  21. Yes, I have been thinking about DM too, but didn't put it in, because, with Hardcore, you will also find it harder to shoot down enemy fighters, too. It may be balanced? Wow, Wels - you really scored 17 kills with the Eindecker??? (And the you died, ramming a windsock pole - what a sad fate. Lol!) Rooster on the Halberstadt - also rather uncommon. Seven kills is pretty good on this plane, I'd say. Must try it again myself. Tttiger, your's will be hard to top. My goodness - 32 kills. Was that with 100% reality, and DiD? I must say, I find all from 10 kills onwards, very impressive!
  22. No, I mean the new AI we have now in the sim. I find it very challenging. And of course we can raise questions. To be honest: I would also like individual skins only for myself. And I think they will do it, if they can, in the future.
  23. You won't be seen, so you can do it! Click your age, and let's all see, how old the aces around here are. (I'm sure already, that most of us shouldn't be sent to duties anymore - doctor wouldn't allow! Lol!)
  24. No, AROTH, it won't do any damage. The skin has it's own name, and therefor will appear among the others, without overwriting one. Put it into the skin folder, and then you can select it, when you fly a plane of it's type.
  25. I'd go so far to say, that the Dr.1 is the best choice in here for scrambles. She takes off like a helicopter! In an earlier QC fight, when attacked by incoming Camels, flying at about 500 feet, i quickly was above them!
