  1. What a short, uninformative note for the end of such a wonderfully made website??? What a sad end for something, that had already become an "institution" for the many interested in WW1 aviation... I really hope it will be continued by someone who cares.
  2. Davy, I guess we all post interesting links every now and then, which others may not watch then (due to various differing reasons). Whatever it was - now I have seen it, and it was great.
  3. I only recently read the book about the famous Fokker E.III pilot Max Immelmann, and he went up mostly alone. Sometimes he "found Boelcke" on his patrols, but I found no such thing like flying in a formation. My advice for all new OFF flyers: drop the idea of flying the war chronologically from the beginning (and if the pilot dies, starting again) - enlist pilots in early and later 1917, and in early and later 1918, just for testing and checking out, how much there will come in OFF - you could be missing the most of OFF, if you try to get there by surviving all those months - most likely you won't. At least I could never achieve that yet. As for the flight path, you can click "Optional flight" repeatedly in the briefing window, to get a path of your likes. I did not find a difference between the briefing course and the path in the inflight map. That may result from using the mod.
  4. Mmuahahahahaaaaa!!!!
  5. We will hold this hill a couple of days then, Fates, until the new supply arrives...
  6. Yes, I thought the same... Ah, Calvin in his flying saucer! More than the forum appearance is new...
  7. Yes, mankind can sure need a goal like this, a goal for all to keep the fingers crossed for. Mine definitely are!
  8. Well, eastern front might be a bit far east - but the Italian front would be a great next goal. I always thought Austria was the older, senior Kaiserreich. But maybe since Prussia had beaten the Austrians, they did look down on them a bit. We Germans are still named "Piefke" by the Austrians, or at least the people from Vienna; after the composer of the Prussian victory march, which was played, when they paraded in Vienna. The composer had got his will, to march in front of the musicians and direct them, and the Viennese pointed at him from their windows and said: "There comes Piefke!" I guess we Germans still fall into other peoples houses with the front door (an old saying in German about a person who is always a bit too direct).
  9. Hahaaaaaaaa - vee arr deeper into der Code of OFF zan you ssink, mein Herr Polovski! Ssank you forr der great informashion, Herr Louvert, ant let me add der Dsherrman department! Left to right: Gefreiter Volker Verbummelt (Private Volker Idledaway); Unteroffizier W. O. Habichsnur (Corporal W. H. Eredid-Iputit); Feldwebel Adolf Ablehner (Staff Sergeant Adolf Rejecter); Hauptfeldwebel D. U. Dochnicht (First Sergeant U. Never) .
  10. Just found this documentary video about James McCudden and Edward "Mick" Mannock. Enjoy!
  11. ...and you might be lucky and find it in the download section - not sure though...
  12. Best is to click on your name bar (top right corner of forum), go to "My Gallery" there, and create a new album called "Signatures". Once you have the new signature in an album, you copy the link address for the picture by right-clicking on it; then you should see something like "Copy link address" or similar. Then you got to "Settings" > "Profile" > "Change Signature". There you can delete the old one. Then you click on that little foto icon above the text frame, and insert the copied link address into that little text frame you get. I hope I was clear enough, otherwise just ask. Things we don't do every week get lost in the myriads of braincells we have. For the most of us, I bet - I often feel like I've dropped back to stone age after only one night with little sleep...
  13. Toshiro, you are also added to our maps now. And if you enjoy OFF only half as much as I do, you will be in for a great time. As for the speed: the most (earlier) crates only gain speed with the nose below the horizon. Remember that, and you'll get on with it.
  14. Update 3 August 2012 - 09:34 h Berlin time (= GMT + 1) Toshiro, Vancouver added. The maps are in post 1 of this thread
  15. Ah, okay, great! Can't wait to see it next to Jarhead's (or better: James Dietz's) "The Circus rolls at Dawn".
  16. Holy sh*t, I don't know what you have posted there, HouseHobbit, but what I see is twenty tons of cryptic text... ? (Only the last six lines are readable). Edit: oh, now it's gone??? Hey, are you playing any Saruman tricks here???
  17. Dej, since we all agreed: will you send the "Special BOC Badge" to NS13Jarhead?
  18. It'll end in tears...
  19. Are you guys fighting a war of words? Enter your crates and shoot it out like real men! Or Hobbits... - aerh... - or Orks... however they all fight something out... Man I'm glad we have no Elves or Orks or Hobbits in our Jasta - I wouldn't even know how to address them? (I guess the Hobbits wouldn't even be able to look through the gunsight?)
  20. Now, that is a better choice - he could at least use the dark "Apocalypse Pony".
  21. Although I had seen "Sierra Madre" (long time ago) I didn't remember that bit. Good that you cleared that up, Jarhead, now that the BOC will definitely award you with a special badge, designed even by our Vice President. And since it is none of the "stinking" kind, I guess you will like it.
  22. Well, I guess that real life is more complicated than "Lord of the Rings", and that these sinister sorts of people exist on either and all sides, with no clear national emblem saying: these are the badies, beat them! But you could do the missions Hollywood-style - then it would be easy: German Luftstreitkräfte = Dark Side. Mmuahahahahahaaaaa!!!!!
  23. Now I have for comparison a photo of the lower wing of Koloman Mayrhofer's OeFFAG Albatros replica, and another of the lower wing of "The Vintage Aviator" Albatros D.Va. The major visible difference seems to be the differing thickness of the wing spar on the OeFFAG-Type, to which the V-strut got attached. But also the other spars look by far more solid than those on the German D.Va. One should think, it would have been easy for the German producers to change this?
  24. Woooooooooow...
