  1. If I might impose on your good nature, Olham, I'd love to have a copy of the Bavarian Albatros too. I already have the coolest Albatros in RoF, but to have the coolest Albatros in OFF would render me invincible.
  2. Bad news, Olham. I just checked the link you provided and the video (music and all) is still there.
  3. There is that possibility. I tried turning off 'Full Screen' and turned 'Level of Detail" to 'Very Low'. Now when I try to fly, in addition to sound, I have a much reduced screen that's completely black instead of disappearing altogether. I guess that's progress...of a sort.
  4. Outstanding screen shots. Especially the top one.
  5. Thanks. I'll give it a shot. Just back from trying. No go. I still get audio, but no picture.
  6. I just downloaded the patch...opened it with WinRAR and the file was corrupt. There was some mission data, but no installer. While hunting for the patch, I visited about four other sites first and discovered that my problem was just one of many different glitches and malfunctions. There's a lot of unhappy folks out there. I think I'll just shelve it for a while.
  7. So there's the word...straight from the top. So it's going to be at least two weeks. Maybe a little more.
  8. Or perhaps he just wanted to park it in the shade.
  9. Here's what I'm running at the moment" Intel® Core™ 2 Quad CPU Q9550 @ 2.83GHz 2.83GHz / 8.00Gb RAM / NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT How does that look to you?
  10. Just got "Cliffs of Dover". When I launch it, all goes well until I hit the "FLY" button, at which point the game goes away and I'm left looking at my Wallpaper. I can hear the audio, and there's a small, pale blue rectangle in the upper left corner saying "IL-2 Sturmovik, Cliffs...". But that's it. I can see in the bottom tool bar that "Cliffs..." is running. Anybody know what I'm overlooking? And...does this happen to anyone else?
  11. There's two of us now. Of course, I only fly Quick Combat so I've never gotten into the complexity of Campaigns. But there are times when I'll climb into an RoF plane for a Quick Mission, specify "No Enemy Planes" and just fly around because everything looks so good.
  12. Hard to say. The only real identifying feature is the shape of the rudder. Looking though a few books, I'd put my money on Aviatik B.I or B.II (if it was the Aviatik, my book says German air crews nicknamed it "Gondola" because they rocked back and forth at the slightest turbulence.) Second possibility could be a...well, there is no good second choice. The other contenders, based on rudder shape (Rumpler, L.F.G.) all had a rear gunner position, which I'm not seeing here.
  13. When this thread started, I knew I had a similar hard luck picture squirreled away in a folder...somewhere. I finally found it. (and he's definitely not British!)
  14. Great stuff. But what is that tiny, narrow-gauge railway that we see at the beginning of the top film? I saw similar ones at various times in the film. They are always on top of the ground (as opposed to in a trench) and completely unprotected.
  15. Well, I lodged a protest at YouTube, ineffectual as it may be. There was no place I could find that really addressed the issue, or where I could create a good rant. There was only "Flag this as inappropriate" which then revealed a drop-down menu that gave five or so choices, the best of which was "Promotes Terrorism" which isn't exactly the point. Then I had to sign up for YouTube, create a Personal Channel in order to be able to post a comment. All that for 500 characters. Barely enough to get started. For what it's worth, here's the mini-rant: "Someone should catch up with MrHEILDEMFURHER1 and slap him upside the head. If you're the sort of person who enjoys voting and free speech, personal liberty, and such like, then it's time to take a stand against the new "Nazi Creep", which is the tendency to see the Nazis as colorful, but tough, adversaries in a war fought long ago, but otherwise harmless." Check the name of the bozo who posted the original video.
  16. Can you give us a URL at YouTube where we can second you message? I'll vote against the 'Horst Wessel Lied'.
  17. Florence Green, former RAF, dies at age 110. http://news.yahoo.com/last-known-wwi-veteran-florence-green-dies-110-170627015.html .
  18. Ah, hope springs eternal!
  19. I recall reading somewhere that the Blip Switch had a dark side. When the switch was in the 'off' position, the engine continues to rotate and fuel/castor oil mix (now unburned) is ejected onto the inside of the cowling. When the switch is turned back on, the magneto spark, or backfire, could blow the cowl off, or set the plane on fire. Is this true?
  20. Couldn't find a v.5.1 disc, so I had to use the 4.1 and then download 5.1 from Natural Point. But Tanks anyway; I still intend to check out your profile.
  21. In the film "Enigma" (code-breaking at Bletchley) there's a scene at a boarding house dinner table where one fellow claims to have read in the newspapers that, as a special wartime measure, a new "Utility" style of knickers have been invented. One Yank, and they're off.
  22. ...and would fit nicely on a license plate.
  23. Ah Jaysus! I've stepped in the deep puddle this time! If only I'd listened to Gandalf! (Do not meddle in the affairs of Wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger.)
  24. It is also said that Jesus is coming back, but I'm not staying up nights.
  25. I solemnly promise that the Crumpets involved (and you know who you are) will NOT be shot at! It's the least I could do. Indeed, I acknowledge a special debt to yourself, RAF_Lou, for spotting the inverted three-dot lights. Somehow, as I dealt with this problem, I began to suspect that when the solution was found it would be basically simple, and global in its implications. I still don't understand the 'white screen', but since the TrackIR 5.1 software trumped the 4.1, I'll not worry about it. I cannot overstate how fond I am of this Forum with its collegiate atmosphere and sense of community, the amount of exotic information that turns up, and the willingness to jump in and help solve problems and suggest lines of inquiry. I posted my woes on the NaturalPoint Forum assuming they'd have me sorted out in no time at all. I updated my posts about five times, giving detailed explanations each time. I got one reply from an administrator after the first post asking if I could see the four red lights in the camera. That was it. Without the OFF Forum, I'd still be banging my head against the wall Each day, when I get up, I get the coffee on, fire up the computer, check e-mail and wander over to the OFF Forum to see what's up. Nearly every day you make my day. Come to think about it, I will instruct my ground crew to only load blanks on my Albatros. Wouldn't want to lose any of you.
