I'm using the SA-2LF system 1966-1970. The SAM is pushing the Thuds (F-105D) down low as they did. Coming in at 10 000ft won't work. I have the QRC-101s on and transmitting and it doesn't work. Long shot SAM out around 20 NMs are routinely knocking down planes. The dive and go to ground works but you are down in the weeds to get that Fansong to break lock, then all the rest of the AAA join in. I had to dig out the old SAM trails so I could see something coming and try to evade it. Without it, no idea as you can't visually padlock the SAM coming but at least with that, you can see a trail.

TU-104 Camel

76...you do have valid points and the amount of refs out there are more than enough to complete the details. You have to consider the modeller, his time, does it look good enough for him, his skill level, ability etc. I wish I had the ability to sort out 3DS Max and make some small basic things but I don't have the interest to learn it which is unfortunate for me. It might be a bit more of your style of criticism delivered with the grace of a sledge hammer I think that isn't being effective is all. I know from personally working with Veltro many many years ago and it was a screen resolution that drastically affected his modelling in scale and appearance. But it took a while to get that point sorted out. Makes a nice target as someone I know says. :) Happy New Year. -

Follow on to this was making a copy of the Vietnam install and patching to July 2012. Works now and things are showing up. Thanks Mue for the work on the tool set as it was something missing greatly for the modding of the sim. Merry Christmas. -

Last patch I have in is 2011. I gave up on the TK patches and wrecking everything in between. Been waiting for this tool for 10 years and great its here but can't open any Cat files with any tools. Its unfortunate but oh well, back to the old way of doing thing for things locked away. But for adding new items, "when you can see it", and mouse rotate it and drag it into place....works great. -

SFP-1 to fly or not to fly online
10107 replied to yubba's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Fly dogfight, fly formation, get a bunch of guys with the exact same fit and you can do what you want but it excludes you from flying with random folks. You need a dedicated clean install for that for either. We used to set up with missions in the Strike mode with one guy flying the O-1 Birddog and WP rockets. Have more guys up high, F4s, 100s, etc and he would mark and we would hit the random ground targets. It really took your imagination to use it but it was fun. We used to take off in dogfight mode, meet up, try formation flying, then you would always see a wing touch which led to a fireball but you would re-gen so have to get back into the formation. You can fly off to the closest airbase and land, formation take off, landings and whatever. Again, its not the same as other online combat sims and restrictive but it can be done and is fun stuff when you get a group of pilots. -

Well...this has been a long time coming for sure. Thanks for the excellent tool. It replaces what I was using and with the added ability to X Y Z map the surface of the object has greatly eased many problems that we suffered here for years. Can you look at added a zoom feature to the skin sometime in the future? Thanks again. -

Gerwin, no words..... Just updated the tool. The max zoom level now and being able to actually see what direction the objects are pointing. The whole thing is awesome. -

Hey Swam...hows things? Your project here still on the go? -
The RCAF roundel on the nose is supposed to be a sugar maple leaf like you have on your wings. The one you have there on the RCAF schemes is the modern one for post . The flag on the tail of the RCAF scheme is the flag of Ontario, a Canadian province, not the Canadian flag or the "Red Ensign" as we called it then. Also the Union Jack on the Red Ensign is flown facing forward. That covers it.

Yeah Gerwin, your terrain tool is indispensable now. Too bad to hear about the dev software problems. The old sfMap tool, I haven't been able to make that work for a long time. But yours as it is now is working great. The only thing I still wish I could see is drag and drop target placement and manipulation of target areas directly editing the targetdata.ini with your GUI. -
Nuke Effects
10107 replied to ezlead's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Put your effect in your effects folder. Call your effect out in your weapons data.ini whatever weapon you want it for. EffectClassName=LKT003 Add what you see below in your data.ini. Goes below everything else changing the names to your effect name. [LKT003] GroundHitEffectName=LKT003 GroundHitSoundName=Nuclear.wav WaterHitEffectName=LKT003 WaterHitSoundName=Nuclear.wav ObjectHitEffectName=LKT003 ObjectHitSoundName=Nuclear.wav ArmorHitEffectName=LKT003 ArmorHitSoundName=Nuclear.wav AirBurstEffectName=LKT003 AirBurstSoundName=Nuclear.wav CraterModelName= CraterType=5 Works for me. -

Gerwin, A request based on your last update. You have the position of the mouse cursor being displayed there. Is it possible with the targets showing on the map that you could have a key command to copy the position of the cursor and then we could paste it into the target.ini? If you could ever make this tool to be able to interact with the targets.ini to be able to manipulate it...would almost be the ultimate tool for terrains. -
