Carrier launch problem
Bravo80 replied to ravenclaw_007's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Well, I mean Mirage Factory French Crusader. But I have also tried F-8j from Mirage, but no stock F-8 from thirdwire. Aircraft carrier is Argenitne Ara de Mayo or French carriers downloaded from Aleks1 website. There is Clemencau and Foch and both of them cause same departing problem to Crusader. Other aircraft depart without problem. I gues..might be it connected with extra long fuselage and short undercarriage of crusader ? Summary : game sys : WOE modded to latest standard, map is Libya or Eritrea stock carriers no problem addon ships (French one from Aleks1 website are not officialy finished, I guess) cause catastrophic launch, usually in 3 of 5 launches no other aircraft which I have tried have same problem, they are : Skyhawk, Etendarde, Wixen, Tracker, Skyrider I tried all kind of combination of load, speed of wind atc. all problem are experienced by AI controlled flights or wingman, human pilot can depart normaly if dont touch stick before plane leave the deck ( I also guess, maybe cat is throwing out plane to hard and crusader hit the deck with long tail part ? ) -

...yes. It struck me later, after I had posted reply, that you had problem with your own modded buccaneer. Can you give report and description where to change what ? And how much ? It seems that i have same problem with Crusaders ond addon carriers (Argentine Ara de Mayo and French flattops from Aleks1 website) Other aircrfat are fine, but Crusaders just jump and explode. It´s quiet essential to have f-8 flyable because I´m trying to make some historical and "what if" missions for french navy. I´m definitely not skilled in modding and my highest achievement was change of some data files for addon object and aircraft, so forgive me my lame questions. -

I admire your skill and working stamina ! Since there is many plains without gear/flaps indication in SFP1 (damm why?) I will be very happy with waypoint director...anything else is bonus. Thanx a lot ! I can´t wait for my buccaneer and sea wixen home made missions from Ark royal ! -
Buccaneer help needed

Well...as SFP1 player, I can live without wiper and I will be VERY happy if there will be any of the nav and distance instruments functional. Well, since I gave up flying with Thirdwire ILS long time ago...it is sometimes problem to fly according ti nav instruments on stock and some modded airplanse. Really dont understand why some planes are able and some unable to have proper nav instruments. -

Well, specify ship and game (SFP 1 or 2, WOE atc ?)......according to picture i guess it is some stock US Carrier and addon Buccaneer ? I play SFP1 only, Wings Over Vietnam and Wing over Europe. All of them modified to latest version and with a lot of addons. When I depart with F-8 crusader from addon Argentine or French carriers, they make the same "jump and boom" take-off. I mean, wing man do that. I can handle the situation by dont touching stick before i left deck..so, specify what kind of instalation do you have. -
Cluster bombs or napalms?
Bravo80 replied to GMagos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well, you didn´t specified aircraft and area you fly. South, North, Navy or Airforce. For a easy kill, there is good choice to use Mavericks or cluster bombs. But, if you want to fly over Vietnam with little historical "understanding" you should beware of Mavericks (never used there) and avoid of many clusterbombs. Altough very effective, cluster bombs where not used very often due to the rules of engagement. US high command forced pilots to use simple solid bombs, because large blast radius of cluster bombs was to dangerous due to political reason. Don´t ask me what political reason is greater than need to win the war, but they had different idea that time. So, i recommend simple iron bombs, napalm and rockets. It is "historical" and also entertaining to fly like it was done before. To hit target with simple targeting sight is challenge and it is well described here on this site. There are at least two superb articles about bombing technique, here or on SIMHQ. It Well, you didn´t specified aircraft and area you fly. South, North, Navy or Airforce. There is a lot explanation about use of munitions and many other interesting informations. I think, book is out of print now, but you can download it from here : http://military-machine.blogspot.com/2009/10/on-yankee-station-naval-air-war-over.html -

Hello ! Super airplane ! Regarding download. A-team site is just members only. I had traied to apply for membership via mail (as instructed) but recieved no answer. Is anybody here able to help me ? I´am making YAP style mission set, based on historical and semihistorical events, where european aircraft carriers were or could have been involved. Some aircraft from A-team would be really handy to add for more realistic feeling. Thanx for answer, if anybody knows how to get mi in to A-team site. -
