  1. Some good info been raised on this one guys. I guess what aircraft you're flying vis enemy is also an important factor - there's nothing better than taking out a superior bird who should've trashed you easily right? Easiuer said than done mind........... me and multi-tasking = pause key
  2. Yeah I agree, that scenario was not beyond the realms of reality at all. Who knows what was going through the mind of a mad dictator? One thing I would say though is if Stalin's spies could count the number of nukes in the American arsenal, then it don't say much for US security! Presume we are going to see all the Soviet jets in this campign, plus the P-80 and perhaps some of the German jets wearing new markings? Unfortunately there's no Vampire yet for the RAF which is a real shame as that bird could punch above its weight, but I believe that modders are working on one.
  3. I did that with an IAF A4 when I was flying a MiG-21 recently - unfortunately I'd used all my 23mm (not much) on another Skyhawk and killed it, and all I had left was the two air-to-airs, first one missed by a mile (think I hit the sun though , second one seemed to detonate a little behind the target for some reason? Becuase I'd used all my gun ammo, he got away - so there's a lesson there; keep a few rounds just in case. Must try that tailchopping tactic in il-2 - sounds fun - did you have to bail out after?
  4. Swordfish - tasty, i feel like a trip to taranto with that one.
  5. thanks guys - there's some real good tips in there, i guess if this had been a poll, guns would probably have won. still, i kinda enjoy watching that big firework snaking after that MiG, makes a change from my il-2 approach of knocking the undercart off Ju-87's and 52's and watching those lame ducks fly on as happy as larry! what i really like about this series is just how fast everything happens - everythings growlin' and bleepin' and i got that plonker screaming guns, guns, guns at me like some demented record thats got stuck whilst i'm going thru loadsa combinations except the right one! usually my tanks go instead of my missiles -still might hit an arab down below i guess!! so i find myself still punching the pause button on a regular basis so am possibly not quite ready for online yet!!!
  6. LOL nuke air-to-air now we're really talking, fry em all!
  7. Got the Hurrie 1 (two-blade prop) and 109E sorted alright then! Seriously this sounds like a great project that will eventually fill a big gap. Even though il-2 has been modded for ages now, many of these planes are still missing....
  8. Brute! Have you modelled the He-177's unerving ability to suffer engine fires at the most difficult times - like in flight.............
  9. Wrench, have you got any of the old profile publications - they had every view possible and in colour too? They have been around for years and years, and came as little booklets or volumed compilation sets. Every aerojumble in the UK always has boxes of them. Doesn't help you much though I guess - especially as no jumbles here for quite a while. I've ferreted around in my collection of the compilations and guess what - no Ju87.
  10. Hi guys, back again after a while! Do you prefer getting in close with guns or standing off with missiles? Which do you find easier? As a committed il-2 series flyer, I thought I'd be a gun man, much to my surprise I find these brutes are not really honed for guns like the old warbirds. If I try that manouvering stuff in here its blackout or redout time pronto - and boy am I vulnerable then!! So I read up the manuals and trawled the web for AtoA missiles and their usage methods. Wow its as satisfying as 4x20mm on a Tempest! The trickiest thing for me is making that snap second decision whether the bogey is on my coarse or coming at me - split second delay and he gets his rocks off first and its kinda hot in that pit! But get it right and its a REAL buzz aint it?
  11. I'd like to add my condolences too. It's a great loss - and at such a young age too. Like has been said - even the newbies are familiar with the Mirage Factory, so we are able to connect with the tragedy - although perhaps not at a personal level, still in a small way. Perhaps his fine work will live on to be his epitaph for many years to come?
  12. Mig-21 Complete Pack 1.3 for SF1 line

great job - a whole fleet of various 21 models in the right camo finish for all repective thetres of war. The one-shop stop for this fine aircraft. Installation a doddle too.
  13. Nice, the best French built fighter of WW11, shame it flew on both sides though!
  14. Awesome as usual! I Know what you're saying about googling - sometimes you get pulled miles off course!
  15. oh boy, i've always liked this big, bad bird. believe they operated very effectively off the marianas after the liberation - also okinawa i believe, and kinda spoilt the Jap night bomber ops from Japan against their former bases. can't wait to do a moonlight patrol looking for G4M2's and Sally's.
