  1. The pictures above do not match the thread title. This is more like it. LOL
  2. I came across this video on YouTube. What does everyone think about it?
  3. Thanks for confirming what I was thinking. I just did not want to make an assumption without a second opinion.
  4. I finally decided that I am going to get some of the DLC however I am setting myself a $20 limit for this month. These are the DLC that I am looking at right now. AI Plane Pack 2 AI Plane Pack 1 F-21A Lion United States Navy and Marines Hunter FGA.73 (75/82) Sultan of Oman's Air Force A-4K Skyhawk Royal New Zealand Air Force Any advice on whether or not I should swap any of the above DLC for another and if so which ones and why?
  5. I thought I had read something to that effect. Thanks you.
  6. I swapped the F-21A Lion for the F-4N. I'll get the F-21A and the Mirage IIIO Royal Australian Air Force next month. Thank you. Do I have to worry about the DLC installation overwriting anything?
  7. Oh No.....Drones?

Thought I would mention that I found this 1986 review of Top Gun you might like to read. http://www.nytimes.com/1986/05/27/movies/top-gun-ingenious-dogfights.html
  8. Okay, I took closer look. Here is a T-55 in trees. If the T-55 is 2.4m (7.87ft) high and 6.45m (21.16ft) long then the tree is about or a little under 50ft tall in this case. More pictuers. T-55_In_Trees.7z
  9. Maybe I was mistaken but it felt right to me at the time. I guess I was thinking of some of the pictures I have seen of German Panzers being towered over by trees in the Ardennes. Comparing my picture to yours it looks like your trees have trunks six time as big around as the tank's gun barrel while the ones in my picture above look to have trunks about the same to twice the diameter of the tanks gun. Now that I am double checking the telephone poles in contrast to the buildings are also too large as well.
  10. wiwa, first go to the ThirdWire Tools and Utilities page and get the "CAT File Extractor for Strike Fighters 2 Apr 2012" you might as well grab the Weapons Editor and Guns Editor while you are at it. Once installed they will appear in your ThirdWire Start menu folder under Utilities. You can then use the Strike Fighters 2 Extractor to extract the aircraft data files from the CAT files in the "C:\Program Files (x86)\ThirdWire\Strike Fighters 2\Objects" folder. It is a good Idea to have a separate folder to extract them into. Here is my SF2 Mods Library where I save all the stuff I download for SF2, 240 GB right now... ...and these are all of the CAT files after extraction. As for the sound files, they go in your SF2 sound folder. This picture is from my SF2:Europe mods folder. The engine sound needs to be in this folder and the aircraft data file's engine sound entry needs to match the file name it will be able to use it also the sound needs to be referenced in the SOUNDLIST.INI. I am not sure if the "sound list" step is needed just to hear the sound of the plane that you are flying in the cockpit. However you will need to change the data file of each aircraft individually if you want only certain aircraft to use the new sound. If you just want to replace the default sound so that all the aircraft used the old on use the new sound then just give your new sound the exact same file name as the default sound and place it into the sound folder and it will override the default sound for the new one. While I was at it I found what I believe to be all of the stock aircraft data file for you plus the default SOUNDLIST.INI file. Stock Aircraft Data Files.7z
  11. I cannot reproduce Fubar512's tree issue in any season. This screenshot is from Winter but it is the same in all of the others seasons. My specs: Intel i7 920 2.67 GHz Nvidia GTX 760 2GB DDR5 Western Digital Black WD2003FYYS 2TB HD CORSAIR XMS3 12GB DDR3 1600 Ram Windows 7 Ultimate I doubt it would have any effect but I am using an alternate ENVIRONMENTSYSTEM.INI. I made it by merging the one Rends included in the "Buildings mod v3" folder with the one from Stary's SARCASM 1.5 mod which I have installed in SF2:E. ENVIRONMENTSYSTEM.7z I did find this little oddity. Probably just needs a touch up to one of the TGA files.
  12. Here is a collection of 226 different aircraft engines sounds from my various installs that you can take a look at, or I should say, a listen to. Aircraft Engines Sounds.7z
  13. A lot of people get the location of where mods are installed and the games are installed mixed up because the Strike Fighters games (SF2 series) use a different location for mods that than the Wings Over games (SF1 series) did. You are not alone in having to work through this issue. You should read this. What is the "Mod Folder"? it should answer you issue on where mods go.
  14. You also might want to try and download the SF2 Series Range to give yourself a place to practice in. Edited for spelling.
  15. Link: Techniques For Weapons Delivery In SFP1 & Page 2. This might help. It's for SF1 but SF2 is not that different.
  16. A big issue is knowing the operational parameters of your weapons. One of the key issues that the Navy and Air force Fighter Weapons Schools were created to correct was the situation where pilots were wasting missiles by launching from outside the optimum launch parameters, the other being how to maneuver you aircraft to get it into the proper launch position. With the early first generation IR AAMs like the AIM-9B Sidewinder, R-3S AA-2 Atoll-A, and Shafrir-1, all have a Max Launch G of 2 meaning that they will not track if they are launching in a turn higher than 2G, secondly first generation IR AAM's needed to be withing 60 degrees of the target aircraft's exhaust pipe in order to gain a lock. These missiles were designed for use against bombers not fighters and as such were never intended for use against a maneuvering target. If an aircraft turns hard enough it can swing its exhaust pipe out of view of the missile's seeker and the missile will lose lock. Also don't launch if the sun is behind the target or if the target is below the horizon because the sun and the ground heat can blind the seeker head. Best to launch from the target's 6 o'clock while unloading G, well within the max launch range with the target silhouetted against a clear sky. Also the IR missiles should be more effective a high altitude than low altitude just due to air temperature and density.
  17. That was my assumption as well. Thanks for the second opinion guys.
  18. Over the frozen north of Canada an RCAF Arrow politely escorts an apparently lost visitor out of Canadian airspace. His less polite wingman is out of the picture frame, and out of tail gun range, positioned on the visitors six with eight missiles at the ready.
  19. Acesfakia, don't rush things. Lets start by trying to put together a team of modders for an Anatolia SF2:NA update project. Lets see if we can find some 3D modeler that might be interested, a lot of items from such a project would probably be useful in a number of other Mediterranean based campaigns not to mention other projects. For example, if a basic La Combattanta II & III class hull can be made then it can be copied and the different superstructure of the II & III can be erected on it. That in turn would allow copies of those two variants to be made and configured with the armament of each variant of that class which would give the SF2 community a number of new naval vessels that would be usable for Chile, Germany, Greece, Iran, Libya, Malaysia, Nigeria, Qatar, and Tunisia. Let us focus on the things that both improve the Anatolia project and help the SF2 community as a whole first. Then once that is done we can focus on unique items.
  20. colmack, let me know when you are ready to do the data file on that USS Oklahoma City (CLG-5). Found this video on YouTube. USS Oklahoma City CLG 5 Combat Action Near the DMZ, Vietnam. Also it occurred to me that if Colmack can get us the USS Oklahoma City (CLG-5), and the ThirdWire GearingFRAM1B is able to act as USS Higbee (DD-806) and USS Lloyd Thomas (DD-764) then all we need is a Belknap class frigate/cruiser model for the USS Sterett (DLG/CG-31) and we could reenact the Battle of Dong Hoi. Battle of Dong Hoi links. Battle of Đồng Hới at wikipedia. Analysis of the Battle of Dong Hoi by Stuart Slade. The Battle of Dong Hoi - Alternative Views: Review of the Battle of Dong Hoi by Larry Rouse. US Navy vs. Cruise Missiles? - the Battle off Dong Hoi. First-Hand:The Naval Tactical Data System in Combat - Chapter 7 of the Story of the Naval Tactical Data System. Scroll down to "Sterett and the MiGs". The whole article is interesting to read however. Battle of Dong Hoi - What was it that the Sterret shot down? 21. My Newest Acquisitions

Nice pistol. I still need to get a 1911, and I personally would rather have an M1A than an AR-15. Nice looking rifle though.
  22. WhiteBoySamurai's C-14 China Cat class has a BM-21 9M28F 122mm rocket included in it that might work if you just need the weapon itself.
  23. I found out why you did not have the CBU-87 available. The Jaguar GR Mk1A has all its Weapon Stations set with "AttachmentType=NATO,UK" while the CBU-87 is set with "AttachmentType=USAF,USN". Also you can find the CRV7 rockets in the "Royal New Zealand Navy Fleet Air Arm Skyhawks and HMNZS New Zealand Aircraft Carrier." download.
