harpoon missiles
KJakker replied to acesfakia's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
acesfakia, ship launched harpoon missiles are already working in SF2:NA based and merged games on a number of ships, the Ticonderoga class, the CG-16 Leahy class, CGN-25 USS Bainbridge, the DDG-51 Arleigh Burke class, and I think the Iowa class battleship update 1.1 as well. As for torpedoes, there are no real torpedoes in game as the game engine does not support them. The torpedoes that have been made for mods are really just specially configured Cruise Missiles. -
Italian AAA defense system
KJakker replied to Ice Man's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
The Italian Army, uses the SIDAM 25 mobile gun system along with the FIM-92 Stinger, MIM-23 Hawk, Aster 30 SAMP/T, Spada 2000 SAM systems. The HAWK and Stinger are available in the SF2 SAMs Pack. I don't think there is a SIDAM 25 in any pack but there are a number of other gun vehicles that you could use as a stand-in, in these packs, SF2 AAA Pack (Redux), Marder Roland and Gepard for SF2E, JGSDF Vehicle Pack 1 1.0, Republic of Korea Army Vehicle Pack 1.0. I think we may have the missiles for the Aster 30 and Spada, I know there is an Aspide in the MGunny's Ordnance Shop II for SF2 pack, but I do not know if anyone has built any ground launchers for them as they are also naval SAM's. If not then you might try and use the Patriot launcher with a modified data INI file to launch the missiles. -
Thought I would add this from 1965. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOrw49-OyhQ

Hello everyone, as you may or may not know, I often make my own variants of guns based on data I have available. I have decided that because I already do this for a number of guns that I would put together a set of gun packs. So far I have RN gun USN gun packs mostly assembled and I am thinking of doing NATO and USSR naval gun packs as well. However I need some help. I am looking for information on what color of tracer various guns used historically. I would like to start with Royal Navy and US Navy tracers from 1939 to present if possible but any info would be appreciated. Secondly I also would like to ask if anyone is interested in the possibility of putting together a few more "Gun Fire Effect" for a greater variety of muzzle flashes/muzzle smoke?

Anyone know what is in the G1.DAT file?
KJakker posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Inside the "BULLETOBJECT.INI" file is this entry "BallisticData=G1.dat". Anyone know what is in the "G1.DAT" file that is referenced? This is all I see when I look at it with a HexEditor and a notepad see the same thing except for the dots. ......?....Ôš†>Ž–_>..ö>–>%?.x)?.A&?<b!?Hy.?.é.?¡ê.?4….?'..?Z9.?*@.?.›.?.<.?³..?‚).?¡g.?ÇÐ.?kZ.?‡ù.?í¨.?li.?.'.?Ûî.?³Á.?°..?Í..?Âe.?)L.?Ö7.? I was hoping that if it is possible to determine what is that file then maybe a modified version of it, or an INI file that "BallisticData=" points to, could be created that would fix the issue with gun ballistics in game. -
I am glad to see further development on this. It is one sim that I am looking forward to playing.

Anyone know what is in the G1.DAT file?
KJakker replied to KJakker's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Thanks to Do355's comment above I found the topic with the file in it over at the ThirdWire Forums. http://bbs.thirdwire.com/phpBB3w/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=7398&hilit=ballisticdata.exe Edit: If you download the ballisticdata.exe program get the one on the last page of the thread. Edit 2: The G1.DAT editor is by HoneyFox and I don't see it listed under utilities in ether the SF1 or SF2 download section. -
Will I just corrected my mistakes.
-
Here is my attempt off the top of my head without looking at a map. There are probably some spelling errors. Let me know what mistakes I made.

To add some perspective on this mistake here is an article I copied for you on the issue. Link to the source: http://www.combinedfleet.com/economic.htm

My grandfather carried an M1 Garand with the 80th Infantry Division through France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany, and Austria. I own a reproduction M1 Garand and the first week I owed it I was holding it and feeling the weight of it in my hand it hit me emotionally thinking about him having to carry one through all of that. I wish I had an original.

Lasers for Air Dominance after 2030
KJakker replied to MigBuster's topic in Military and General Aviation
Lets hope that the Air Force does not render itself obsolete. I am remembering the Hammers Slammers series of military Sci-fi by David Drake. In those books all of the ground combat vehicles mounted energy weapons, be they tank canon, dedicated AAA, or the counterparts to auto cannons & machine guns, could hit targets in orbit and were networked into an integrated mobile air defense system. Any aircraft that flew higher than a hovercraft would be engaged and killed by any guns that had a line-of-sight the moment is was above the horizon. -

Maybe you could do one of the "What If" refits of the Hood. http://www.hmshood.com/history/construct/repair42.htm -
JET Engine ini Questions
KJakker replied to 76.IAP-Blackbird's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Have you looked at the engines of the B-70 and the F-103A? Both are Mach 3 aircraft and might help you determine what is wrong with your engines. -

Update on the V/W Class Long Range Escort. Stephen1918 and I are working on one more variant and making some minor adjustments. Barring unforeseen problems I think they should be out sooner than the proverbial "Two Weeks" but don't hold me to that, guys. -

Update on the V/W Class Fast AA Escort. -
Is a possible to make guns under the control of a single gunner fire in sequence? For example, say a gun has a rate of fire of 20 rounds per minuet and two of the guns are under the control of the same gunner as part of a twin mount. Is it possible to make first one gun and then the other gun fire at a 1.5 second intervals instead of both guns firing at the same time every 3 seconds?

PM with checklist sent. Take a look at your messages for "F/A-18F checklist." It is actually for the "F/A-18E" but the F is just to two seat variant of it so the differences should be minimal.

Got My Mother To Play Strike Fighter 2: Europe Just Now
KJakker replied to Skyviper's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I only got my father to try SF2:Vietnam once. He could not get the hang of how to maneuver the F-4. He is much more into First Person Shooters going all the way back to Wolfenstein 3D on the 3.5" floppy. -
And so SF2 decided to crash
KJakker replied to slick cowboy's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
As we are talking about antivirus and malware protection I thought I would throw in a couple of article link. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2369749,00.asp http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2372364,00.asp Note: I have used Webroot since something like 2004 with no issues I am aware of. -
[Need Help] My SF2 keep crash when setting unlimited
KJakker replied to wiki's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Wiki, your situation does sound odd. I was able to run SF2 on Unlimited with my old GTX 275. That card is essentially one half of your GTX 295. However I have Win7, and had 6 GB of RAM at the time which might have made a difference. I have a suggestion, you might want to try downloading and installing Operation Desert Storm again from scratch as something might have gotten corrupted in the download or extraction process. After all, if all of the other SF2 titles are running on your system on Unlimited except Operation Desert Storm then I would think that the problem might be with something in your install of ODS. I know that at one time my SF2:NA was crashing on me and it drove me nuts trying to figure out what was wrong until I narrowed down the cause the problem to a specific add-on ground object. I think you should try checking for such possible issues before you start spending money.
