Tor Huntin
Flanker562 replied to Flanker562's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
Oddly enough I've been thinking about that. I think so far the only way is to play hide and seek with it, pop up it fires a missile, go behind a hill or mountain, etc. Then just fly in and waste it, etc. -
I have the PDF version (never read that portion) but... I don't think SF2 can function as such (if it can then...) but Brain32 had the NATOPS manual I believe when he did the cockpit so I'm sure when it was setup in the Ini's it was done as best as possible. I usually load the thing out (as such in the videos) so I keep it fairly "easy" to fly and don't do any acrobatics, though in a DACT I was able to down an Su-35, or something close to that with ease though, but I'm sure some RL Navy jock was "He'll destroy the plane!" so who knows.

I never got thrilled by the mapping of his Prowlers, one reason I did the "Jammin Jihad" one and was like, "No thanks." If FC or an equivalent modder actually did a Prowler that would be choice. -
Requires: A-10A module for DCS. This is a track I discussed on the SimHQ forums, track file included, no ACMI http://562.50megs.com/DCS/Tracks/a10MavTor1211.zip Takeaways: As mentioned above the Tor has a really good ability in the current level to shoot down your missiles. By diving and launching you give the Maverick a straighter profile in engaging the Tor and helping it not get shot down by the Tor. The key things are to immediately turn away (take it easy on the stick) but if your missile gets shot down, you're outside it's threat radius and moves you in the direction away and allows you to set up for another shot. And once you get a confirmed lock on the vehicle throttle up (as you'll notice I was throttle down to increase the time) if you've throttled back to get a solid lock. If you feel like you'll end up getting shot at, simply turn around and setup. It's not going anywhere. And the use of the ALQ-184 is also recommended (turned on when I took off and turned off when I landed). No ACMI DCS 1.2.11

Basically, for the Afghan map I just fly along and let the bomb to the work (though it's been a long time I've done that) but even then... hold on: That's generally what I've done, and never broke a jet yet (I can't, as I believe FastCargo mentioned I don't want to...) doing bomb drops, both guided and iron. Or this one:

Lol you guys... I got a PM last night and the guy described how he pulls 8g after dropping a bomb, so I'm not trying to make fun of anybody or bitchin about it just... be safe with the thing And I need to check on the Auto flaps issue (some issue with the flaps not having the correct setting at speed) but yeah, he pulled like 8gs after dropping a bomb. I'll probably have to make a video on while it's cool to pull up after your run, but you don't need to pull that hard.

True, given the F-35 you simply don't need stealth for CAS, because it's quite obvious you're coming in for a run, regardless of weaponry, and we all know the power of a radar is going to see you, as well golly gee willickers, you're out in the fracking open so... yeah. Which is why I love jets with more pylons, bombas and missiles, and rocketas and bullet launchers are best.

View File F/A-18C VFA-94 Retexture VFA-94 Retexture This is a simple retexture of the default VFA-94 F/A-18C skin that’s provided with the templates. Installation, simply put this in your fa-18c (or A if you want), and in the Paint Schemes drop down menu, select “VFA-94 Retexture”. If I was flying an A-10 I'd clean house much more than the Su's, but given the Russian procurement and tactical philosophy it's not surprising, they don't take a sophisticated approach as far as technology goes, and in the long run it to them doesn't matter. Sometimes you need those rockets and bombs to be effective. Than and they have enough tanks and artillery to handle fire support as well, in extremis in some cases

View File A-10A Pre-Production Scheme No. 1 Pre-Production No. 1 Before the Camouflage legacy of the A-10, this was one of the proposed schemes. Installation: Simply unzip the folder and extract the file into your Bazar\Liveries\A-10A (or optionally the C, though the only oddity noticed is the antenna behind the cockpit, otherwise it’s identical mapping) directory and go into the simulation go to the Payload section and for the Liveries drop down menu select “Pre-Production No. 1” and go fly. Sorry it took so long... other than the Bradleys (man they were tenacious) it appears I didn't hit... anything, but overall a good general idea. There were no SAMs but it's a good habit to practice (ejecting flares) and I had to ditch as my gear wouldn't go down (Grr...) The mission is also re-adjusted, to shorten the track as well as overall flight and made the Bradleys clump together as well. If Labels work (didn't for me, the muzzle flashes were a good cue) then you can get a grasp. Su33CAS.7z

I think so (there was that not adopted "Peanut" scheme that's all I'm aware of) but in my internets travels I found this site which seems to confirm it: http://dstorm.eu/pages/en/usa/a-10.html Also I just got back from my walk, so let me get a shower in and I'll record that track for you as well. I haven't forgotten... Mind you I've never done skin work so my normal reference workflow never included it (I like it supporting me that's for sure....) as I just wasn't interested at the time, but it's just another jet
