  1. I was looking through June’s Combat Aircraft Monthly and found a really unusually painted F-4E, well not a F-4E anymore as it is one of the last the QF-4E. For some reason I really like the scheme. It is a heavily weathered and faded SEA scheme that a bunch of QF-4E were re-painted in as a USAF ‘heritage’ flight for the air show circuit. This particular Phantom 72-0140/ AF-335 is even more unusual due to the Hill Grey nose cone and WW II style USAF roundels??? I couldn't resist skinning it! Making the the QF-4E was easy just deactivated the gun as well as the radar and removed the WSO and his seat. QF-4E Detachment 1 82nd Arial Targets Squadron Holloman AFB 2016:

  8. In 1994, the USAF awarded a contract to McDonnell Douglas to explore the feasibility of adapting the F-15C to the Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD) role--the so-called Wild Weasel mission that was at the time performed by the two-seat F-4G Phantom II. However, the Air Force was skeptical about the feasiblity of a modified F-15C for the Wild Weasel mission, preferring a two-seat aircraft for this role. The aircraft that the USAF would REALLY like to have for the Wild Weasel role is a modified two-seat F-15E, but this is considered much too expensive an option in the current military drawdown environment. The USAF settled instead on an adaptation of the F-16 for the Wild Weasel mission the F-16CJ Block 50/52 with the HARM targeting Pod. BUT...... What if a modified F-15E had been chosen as the F-4G replacement? And so I give you the F-15F Strike Eagle 'Wild Weasel' The F-15F is dedicated to the SEAD role and like the F-4G before it works in hunter/ killer teams with the F-16CJ Block 50/52. For this role the F-15F is fitted with the Litton/ TRW AN/APR-52 Precision Direction Finding (PDF) system. As an economy measure and since it was thought the SEAD role could be undertaken solely with the PDF system the F-15F could not utilize the LANTIRN system until an avionics upgrade program in the early 2000's which included the Sniper targeting pod and JHMCS. I have done two camouflage skins for each squadron, one is in the normal F-15E dark grey and the other is in the hill grey scheme. Squadrons are the 14th, 23rd and 90th Fighter Squadrons.
  9. Ok guys :) give me a week to get a chance to package it up etc

  11. I hadn't planned on uploading it as I got distracted by phantoms lol. But I can do as is if you like?
  12. Rivet Haste F-4E 'what if' skins. I'm setting up a 'what if' Linebacker II air superiority campaign but I cant decide what skin to use.... Air superiority Blue with F-15A style USAF roundels (no blue outline on the bars) - this is the same as on the first delivery F-15A Eagles: SEA and AIr Superiority Blue mix with F-15 style roundels, two variants: A: and B:
  13. All it is! Lol Toryu, yes just the first 42 Luke 555th FTFS aircraft. They were re painted compass grey at thier first major service. Apparently the blue was so effective at high altitude that red & white stripes or black & white stipes or day glow orange panels were painted on many of the aircraft.
  14. Flying the slatted F-4E

Very cool, appears we need to add an audio stall warning to our SF2 phantoms lol
  15. I found a document online containing hundreds of McDonnell model numbers for various projects and proposals. 98HW is a 1966 proposal for the USN that adds the M61A1 to the nose of the F-4J. The designation would have been F-4J+ Ballast would have been required for adequate nose wheel lift off during bolter so the basic take off weight would have been 1417 pounds over the specification F-4J weight. 98LL/LM/LN would have added the AWG-10 and AIM-54A Phoenix missile to the F-4J.
  16. Includes hundreds of proposed projects and modifications of McDonnell aircraft for 'what if' inspiration. McDonnell Model Numbers List.pdf

  18. Air Superiority Blue (the same as the very first F-15A were originally delivered in) and Air Deference Command Grey skins for the 555th TFS F-4E 'Rivet Haste' Phantoms over Vietnam.
  19. Thanks, I enjoyed making this one.

F-4T Phantom II Air Superiority Fighter 1.0 The F-4T was a late 1970s proposal by McDonnell for a stripped F-4E optimized for the air superiority role. All air-to-ground capability was to be eliminated and associated equipment removed. The armament consisting solely of the built-in M61A1 cannon, the four belly-mounted AIM-7 Sparrow missiles, and the four wing-mounted AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles, or an alternative warload of six AIM-7. A digital computer was to have handled the weapons system. By the late 1970s, the Phantom was clearly old technology, and no customers ever expressed any interest in the F-4T. The project was abandoned before anything could be built. It was never clear but it was suspected that the proposal had been aimed at a particular potential export customer. BUT what if the F-4T had entered production, either in foreign service, or to supplement the F-15A, or even as a potential alternative to the F-16A ADF? And so I give you the F-4T Phantom II Air Superiority Fighter: - Base aircraft is the 'F-4E_79 TISEO & ARN-101' from Ravenclaw and co’s awesome F-4E USAF pack. - Deleted all air to ground weapons capability. - Each inner wing weapon station can carry either 2x AIM-9 or 1x AIM-7 or an ECM pod. - Empty weight, empty inertia and stall speed lowered to that of the stripped out Third Wire F-4F. This makes it probably the most maneuverable and best dogfighting F-4 Phantom models, other than the IAF Super Kurnass 2000 prototype. - Retained AN/ARN-101 antenna for long range navigation. - Retained TISEO for target identification. - Higher 'G' HPC center drop tank. - Cleaned up the ‘noises’ and shadows on the radar display to better represent the digital filtering of the Digital Scan Converter Group (DSCG) radar display later model F-4E were equipped with. - Added Pulse Doppler look-down function to the AN/APG-120 radar, as later model F-4E Phantom’s upgraded with the AN/AWG-10A digital fire control computer had this feature. - Changed the gunsight reticle to the green and red colored AN/ASG-26A which was also used on the F-4G Wild Weasel. - Ghost Grey Air Superiority camouflage scheme. - Changed the fiscal year component of the serial numbers to the late 70's: 77, 78 or 79. Included in this mod are: - F-4T Phantom II - 9 different USAF, ANG and AFRES skins. - 7 different USAF, ANG and AFRES squadrons. - High resolution Ghost Grey camo F-4E PSD templates - F-4T hanger & loading screens To Install simply un pack and drop into your mods folder. Notes: Animation / Function - Canopy - Hook - Air Refuel - Gun Vent ______________ automatic when gun is fired or as soon as the landing gear is deployed Credits: - ravenclaw_007 - original model by TW , BPAO , Crab_02 - cockpits from TW - TISEO made by Crusader - 3D model , textures and weapons by ravenclaw_007 - Pilot, Florian & JAT81500 Enjoy, Dan

  24. I can certainly relate to the pool comparison so I would agree with that logic!
  25. Our rookie at work who did two tours in Afghanistan when he was in the New Zealand Army recommended this doco as the most true doco on the state of Afghanistan. Eye opening to say the least!
