  1. What language is SF2 written in? I'm learning how to code and came across this site Free Code Camp which teaches all sorts of languages for free. For some reason coding is making more sense to me than High School English. I'm excited to finally be learning it too. So much so much so I'm learning as many languages as I can. I'm taking a Unity Engine online class to learn how to use the Unity Gaming engine (I'll learn how to use the Unreal Engine) and I came across a few other engines that use C++ and C# (which I know a little bit about). There's so many things I'd like to do and now I can do them (or get close enough).
  2. @Nesher @Capitaine Vengeur @Wrench Epic is doing a free game every day until Christmas it looks like. So the free game is City Skylines however you get a $10.00 off coupon. Star Wars Squadrons is on sale for $23.99 ...
  3. @Nesher @Wrench Epic Game Launcher is your friend. New free games every week. Sometimes you get some really good ones for free. For instance I got Assassin Creed for free. I got Watchdogs 1 and 2 for free. Farming Simulator 19 (I have a crop duster mod in there so I can get the flying going in a relaxing game :D) Troy was given away fore free there too along with Borderlands 2. I mean the games are old but I don't care because they're free and bug free as well. Elite Dangerous was the free game there a couple of weeks ago I think.
  4. Article From the Guardian Hearing the news of his death this morning was a shock. I mean get that he lived a long life but still it was a shock to see the news. Allow me to share with you a couple of fond memories. Back in '96 I got a chance to fly for the first time with the EAA's Young Eagle program of which hew as an honorary member. That program really fueled my love for aviation. Sadly I never went to college and flew in the air force; however, my love of aviation has never diminished. Even got a chance to interview him; however, I never published his interview here because he didn't time to answer a lot of the questions and most of the questions could be answered by reading his book. But I do remember when his answer to one question though about what he felt when he broke the sound barrier and his reply was "A sense of accomplishment". I have some pics of that certificate I got back in '96. I flew that small plane for all 10 seconds :) went down, went up, turned left, turned right, a total of 10 inches in either direction lol. The pilot said "you sure that's all you wanted to do?" Me: "yup I'm good".
  5. This is pretty awesome. For a second I thought it was a video game. I heard this job was really stressful and I think this system would be greatly beneficial.
  6. Saw this on Imgur had to share it here. I'm not military but I do enjoy how all the branches don't pull punches when making fun of each other.

  8. The F-22 Raptor was developed to counter a growing threat during the cold war. However as hostilities subsided the need for this aircraft went away according to some. To others there's still a great need for this aircraft. Moving beyond the drama and focusing on the facts, the F-22 Raptor isn't something to scoff at and we'll quickly explain this aircraft history in this presentation.

  9. I'd like to think that soon after they took off, someone happily mowed that patch of grass. It looks to me they like to keep their field looking good.
  10. Okay I've seen the charts before but this video really helps put things into perspective. What's your favorite fictional air or space craft? Not going to lie, some of these are much smaller than I thought they'd be and others a larger than I thought they'd be as well.
  11. https://i.imgur.com/f41tDH8.mp4 I remember reading about these things but it's so great to actually see one on video! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lun-class_ekranoplan

  12. So ... explain to me why basic training has to be like a day camp now?
  13. My question ... is wearing this at all times like something they did in the 50s?
  14. https://i.imgur.com/WWLB1cp.mp4 ... do we still have a video player here?
  15. Can there be a movie about General Mattis? I'd love to watch a movie about him.
  16. This reminds me of the time McAfee was trying to shake this site down for money.
  17. Dude that's awesome! Good find.
  18. Agreed. It even waved goodbye before leaving.
  19. American press, especially Fox, loves dressing things up. Like that time a concrete practice bomb was dropped in Japan ... American press: US BOMBS JAPAN IS WAR COMING? ... People that know better: It's a chunk of concrete ... things are good here. Shit happens.

    Don't Miss

https://i.imgur.com/EMGokbt.mp4 I don't know what kind of gun this is. It's snub nose something or other. I'm wondering what kind of damage this thing can do though.
  21. Hello, Some of you may know I have this little project called Quick Aircraft Facts where a particular aircraft is featured in 3 minutes or less. I would like to do one about the F-14 Tomcat; however, DVIDS, the source for Defense Video Imagery released on a Public Domain license, doesn't have a lot of F-14 Video. I did find an archives that had F-14 video but they wanted to charge me $30/per second (which equates to $2,700). Since I'm no where near the 1k sub mark on YouTube I am not going to see any kind of funding at all. Let's face it you can zoom in and zoom out on still images for so long. So my thoughts are this. I can use what little video I'm able to find of the F-14, some still images, and I'm wondering if anyone here has DCS F-14 module and would like to share some video you took. Full credits to you, and links to your website and YouTube channel. If you're interested here's what I'm looking for. 1 carrier launch and 1 landing (in cockpit or external .. either one will be great) In flight action, either flying around, engaging targets, or both. (again up to you if you want to show internal or external) Oh speaking of engaging targets if you're able to get air to ground action for the later variants I'll include that snippet about them too. Firing of the AIM-54 Phoenix missile. (If possible I'd like an external view) Whatever in cockpit or external shots you'd like to include I"ll try to get them in there. And the sweep wings in action (I think my other video I have will show this but I'd like to have another clip) I'll happily work with whatever you send. Also please let me know the name you'd like to have shown in the credits. Clips are going to be short; however, you can send long videos if you'd like and I'll snip what will fit with the QAF presentation. I'm also thinking about doing another series where I'll chat about aircraft with your permission I can feature your F-14 footage again there too and really go into details that would be skipped over or crammed into a nutshell in QAF. Thank you for your time.
  22. Saw this on Imgur. Had to share this here on CombatACE
  23. Link to story: https://time.com/5865985/madeline-swegle-first-black-female-fighter-pilot/ Pasted text from story (so you can avoid the flood of ads) A U.S. Naval officer made history last week as the military branch’s first known Black female tactical jet pilot. Lt. j.g. Madeline Swegle made a final flight on a T-45C Goshawk training aircraft to complete her undergraduate Tactical Air (Strike) pilot training syllabus on Tuesday, the Navy said. Swegle, who is assigned to the Redhawks of Training Squadron (VT) 21 at Naval Air Station Kingsville, Texas, is set to receive her Wings of Gold in a ceremony on July 31. “Swegle is the @USNavy’s first known Black female TACAIR pilot and will receive her Wings of Gold later this month. HOOYAH!” the Chief of Naval Air Training wrote on Twitter, wishing her “BZ,” short for “Bravo Zulu,” the naval signal meaning “well done.” Public figures from Sen. Elizabeth Warren to tennis great Billie Jean King congratulated Swegle on social media after the announcement. RDML Paula Dunn, the U.S. Navy’s vice chief of information, celebrated Swegle’s accomplishment on Twitter. Swegle follows in the footsteps of trailblazers like Brenda Robinson, who is thought to be the first Black female aviator in the Navy. Women have served on U.S. combatant ships since 1994. However, the Navy has faced criticism for the lack of diversity amongst its pilots. As of 2018, only about 2.7% of pilots in Navy maritime squadrons were Black, according to analysis by Military.com; less than 7% of all Navy pilots were female, according to Pensacola News Journal. Viper here ... isn't that interesting that on the other site you have a whole lot of scrolling for just a couple of paragraphs?
