  1. (I'm using WOV) I'd like to create a mission that would have me strafing parked aircraft sitting by/on the runway but I'm not having success. I'm using "Le Missioneur" mission editor from Check6 and each time I set the altitude and speed at zero for the enemy MIG's, they don't show up, or they blow up at start up (I'm not sure which, I just know it's never there when I go look for it). I'm certain that I'm doing something wrong. Does anyone have any ideas?
  2. If Brady plays like he did yesterday then you won't have anything to worry about. 3 interceptions, 50 attempts? I glad they won, but that kind of play isn't going to cut it in Indy.
  3. Another good newbie guide: http://www.column5.us/newb.htm It's for SFP1, but FE uses the same game engine.
  4. The aircraft are available in the download section: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...&showcat=70 Each plane should come with a "read me" file that explains where each component should go. Basically, each aircraft file goes into the Objects/ Aircraft folder of the FE program file. I only have WOV and SFP1, but I would assume FE works the same. You should back up your stock files before you add any mods. If you're new to this series of flight sims, you should check out the Knowledge Base here: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showforum=99 It answered most of the questions I had when I first got inot the game.
  5. Thanks for the info. It's exactly what I was looking for. I had been trying to sort out the difference between the Premier league, Champions Legue, Carling Cup, FA Cup, etc. I wasn't sure how each was connected to the other (if at all), but I'm starting to get an understanding. I was never much of a soccer fan until a friend got me into watching the World Cup. I was amazed, absolutly, positively AMAZED at the skill and athleticism displayed by the players. I've even gone so far as to attend a couple of US Major League games here at home. I could see myself becoming addicted.
  6. Ireland and Portugal?
  7. I've got a buddy in London who is a huge Liverpool fan. (He knew I got into the last World Cup rooting for England, even sent me a Rooney jersey) I've made several attempts to follow the sport in England so we'd have something to talk about. There seems to be several leagues, each with a bit of crossover. I haven't yet been able to understand it. Can anyone point me to a decent website that could explain the league system in England.
  8. Right now I'm in Manchester, NH. Grew up in MA (Lowell), but I usually don't like to admit that. My brother has a house in Hampton and we usually spend a bit of time there in the summer. The beach has gone downhill recently (lots of gang activity coming up from Boston).
  9. GO PATS! Being from NH, it was always The Pats, The Sox, The Celts, and (like it or not) The Bruins. Nearly cried when the Sox finally won the World Series, and was hung over for days when the Pats won the Bowl.
  10. Erik, I hope you haven't been disheartened by any negative responses regarding the 5 post rule. Persoanlly, I think it's a small (very small) price to pay for access to all of the wonderful content available. I wasn't an active poster until recently, but since I've started checking the forum and leaving a bit of intput, I've found that I'm learning more about the game, and just generally having fun. Should you enact any other requirements in the future (ads, minimum requirements, etc.) you have my full support. I can't think of any other situation were a person can get so much quality stuff for free. Keep up the great work!
  11. It's not like you're asking for a kidney or anything, just 5 posts. No big deal. I have no problem with it. I've been a menber for a year, but only recently started using the forum and making comments, etc. I don't know why I didn't do it before. I've learned more in the last few weeks about both the game, as well as the folks who play it. As much as I'm not opposed to the 5 post rule, I do think that I'd also be willing to tolerate ads for each download. That way you guys can get some money to pay for the site. Either way, the mods and add-ons a worth just a little bit of effort to get since they are all awesome and FREE.
  12. CombatAce isn't the sole source of downloads (the best, perhaps, in my opinion), but there are dozens of sites that host download sections. I don't think it's asking too much to leave a scant few posts (it's only five) in order to have access to hundreds of awesome (and FREE) mods/terrains/aircraft/ships/effects/weapons/missions/campaigns/utilities/etc (you get the idea that there is alot available to us, for FREE) The are guys out there creating this stuff on their own time and allowing us to use it (for FREE), so I'm inclinded to believe that 5 meager posts is a very good bargain. I was a member for a year before I made my first post, but it gets kind of addictive and now I check the site every day and usually have at least one comment/question/answer to make each day. Additionally, my new interaction has helped me understand so much more about the workings of the game. Try it, it's fun.
  13. Check out the knowledge base here: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showforum=99 It answered most of the questions I had when I first got into WOV/SFP1/WOE/FE Each downloaded file (a/c, terrain, effect mod, etc) should have an included "read me" that outlines where each file component should go. For instance, a new a/c would go into the Objects/Aircraft folder, while it's new prop sound would go into the Sounds folder. I'm sure the knowledge base explains far better than I can.
  14. Yes, they did. You now need a minimum of 5 posts to download. See the following link: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=16667&hl=
  15. At the moment it's 38F, not what we're used to for January. It's been unusually warm this winter here in New Hampshire, and we've had no snow to speak of. Last week it even reached the 60's.
  16. Consult the knowledge base as it has almost all the answers. The following link will explain weapon editing. I think all you need to do is go into the aircraftDATA.ini, scroll down to the weapon stations and add a dual rack to the ALLOWEDWEAPONCLASS for the pylon you wish to use. The link explains all the abbreviations and everything that you would need to know (I think a dual AHM rack is 2AR, but I could be wrong.) http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=12099
  17. There is a great comparison chart on the column5 website that compares the various features/components of each game. It can be found at this link: http://www.column5.us/sfchart.htm
  18. Thanks- exactly what I was looking for. I obviously didn't dig deep enough when I reviewed the Knowledge Base.
  19. I recall reading instructions somewhere on how to remove the radar image from the upper right hand of the screen. Can anyone direct me to that article? I checked the knowledge base but came up empty.
  20. I, too, saw the error message this AM, but it's no longer there. Seems to have been resolved.
  21. I don't think you have to do anything. In my experience, I've seen all of my add-on aircraft used by the AI. In my last A-10 mission over Israel, I found a flight of F-15's doing CAP. I certainly didn't put them there. Additionally, you can change which aircraft are part of your flight or squadron with the loadout screen's drop down menu. In a four aircraft strike mission, I sometimes change the second fligth to fighters to provide a2a capability while I go in on the attack.
  22. I'm still able to use the previous Israel terrain you made, so I can just make do with that; all is not lost. Thanks for your suggestions and, especially, thanks for sharing your terrains.
  23. I tried using the stock A-4 and F-100, strike mission, starting in the air. They both worked about 50% of the time. The rest of the tries they would CTD while loading.
  24. I tried it with the F-4E, strike mission, starting in the air and it worked fine. I suppose this suggests that there is an issue with the add-on aircraft I've been attempting to use. Any ideas on how I can get them to work?
