NEW: Wright Brothers "First Flight" sim...
PG_Raptor replied to Major Lee's topic in General Flight Sim Discussion
actually, the FS2004 model is kinda difficult. Its really hard to turn 9especially with the headwind) and elevators are really sensative. I was able to get it to the water though :) -
yeah, on my 1.7 GHz 256 RAM 16Mb vid card, I've got most settings on high (even have scenery density on very high, clouds are the big fps hitter), and I'm still getting 15 fps or so in most cases. You should check that your computer is running right lexicon. Try a speed disk optimization.

Another Video listed in the LO-MAC forum (23 August)
PG_Raptor replied to Str][ker's topic in General Discussion
My thoughts while watching that movie: "Finally, a high-res video" "sweet, F-15!" "I've actually seen an F-15 do that." "That missile looks SWEET!" "Wow, didn't know the B-1 carried so many bombs..." "Thar be that hidden frame" (I did get it to stop on it too) "Explosions look great" "Hate to be in that vehicle..." Cluster bomb! Sweet!" "More great explosions..." "Hate to be in that A-10..." "The curve on those missiles is great" "Great water effects... eww... reflections!" "Missle shot looks awesome!" "AWESOME water effects!" "I WANT!!!" I trust you were able to follow along with my brain :yltype:  :hallucine: :D :exclam:  EDIT: doesn't take much to become a "Member" does it? -
nice and shiny...

what folder? Yeah, they installed to the "FS2004sceneryworldtextures" folder.
-
well, I installed all the diferent combonations of wavesets that there were, and strangly enough, gained about half a GB on my hard drive... but the textures are still showing the default. What could I be missing? I'd really like to get this installed, as it looks like it'll be a LOT better than the default textures.
-
what the heck? I've only got a 1.7GHz P4, 256 RAM, and a 16MB vidcard, at it runs ok on my computer (certainly not at the highest settings, but good enough for me)... And you say it performs poorly? Wow.
-
well, i did some of the things like "moderate wind" and "deep sea" and such. Do you have to do that for every possible combination, or does the program only allow one to be installed at a time?
-
Ok, I downloaded and installed the program, and everything seems to be working. Except now I'm at a loss to how the program works. Does it just replace all the default textures, then automatically create the waves with the chosen wind, or do you have set that stuff with the Wave configuration thing? Any help please?

Huh... I switch from flightsim.com to avsim.com, and I go from 9 KB/sec to about 400 KB/sec. Much better, but its still only at 2-3%. weird. Oh well :)

One thing I've learned from working at an auction company: Brass doesn't sell well.

I've got a cable modem. Sometimes I'll look at the performance of the netwrok (using Ctrl+Alt+Del), to see how much it is using. I've noticed that at several times, it only functions at less than 1%, 2.5 - 3% at most. I would think that it would use the entire thing to download stuff as fast as possible. (for example, I've got a download going right now thats only using .17%). Am I wrong in my assumption? or is my network not performing at its best?

Hey, simviation.com has a bunch of fixes for aircraft textures in FS2004. They put the best textures on the plane, no matter what your MIP setting is at. They look really good, and so far I havn't noticed a big hit on fps, maybe a frame or two at the most. Look under FS2004 Props and Civil Jets in the downloads section. Oh, and one other thing, does anyone know how to get the water textures to look better? either in the game or through a third-party download?

Hey, thanks!

Hey, I've got a nice picture I'd like to share, but I don't have a place to upload it. Anyone have a good suggestion? And seawolf, how'd you get your water to look like that? That looks a heck of a lot better than the default... And there was somethign else I wanted to know, but I can't think of it at the moment...

Hey all. PG (Pursuit Group) is a vitual squadron that has been around for many years. When LOMAC comes out, I will be leading it into this wonderful sim. Currently, I am looking for someone who has a good attitude, is willing to take on some responsibility, and is an all around good person (which I think would count for everybody here :) ) to act as XO. The aim of the squad will be to form a small but strong group, in both relationships and flying. Also, I am looking for a webmaster, someone who hopefully knows how to do Flash. By the way, in PG we don't have age requirements, time zone or country requirements, or even flight skill requirements. Have a good attitude, a sense of humor, and loyalty to the squad. Lastly, the squad will include every type of flyable in LOMAC. S! to my new XO and webmaster.

Hey, I've got a sig question. How do you use a pic as a sig? in the LOMAC forums I can just put the link down, here I've tried that, doesn't work. Also tried HTML, doesnt' work. Any help?
-
Yeah, the 16Mb card is pretty small, but its fast enough for now, and I'm waiting for LOMAC to come out before I buy a better one :D. I'll try those things. Thanks!

Anybody have some good flights to look at scenery / weather? Any ideas? I just got it, havn't had too much time to look around. Also, I love the graphics, but they're taking too much of a hit on my frame rates, and I'm not sure what to turn down. Here's how I've got it set up right now in the display menu: Scenery: Mesh complexity = 22% Texture size = High Terrain detail = Land only Water effects = low extended terrain textures = checked special effects = high scenery complexity = dense autogen density = normal Aircraft: Global Aircraft quality = high Weather: Sight distance = 60 (lowest) Cloud draw = 30 (lowest) #D cloud percentage = 30 Detailed clouds @ density Low Hardware: 1024x768x16 render to texture = checked transform and lighting = checked Trilinear filtering MIP = 8 hardware rendered lights = 6 Global max texture size = Massive As stated above, I'm not sure what to change on here. I'm getting less than 5 fps in cities, and anywhere between 10-20 elsewhere. Does chaning from 1024x768x16 to 1024x768x32 do anything for fps? anyother ideas? By the way, I have a 1.7 GHz P4, 256 RAM (soon to be upgraded), Nvidia Vanta 16 Mb vid card (small but fast). And lastly, I'm not getting any effects on the water, with the exception of wave hitting the shores. Is there supposed to be movement out in the ocean? Thanks for any help! FS2004 looks like a great game, I just hope I can get it working good for me!
