  1. Im with you Dave. My Lord...Prayers out for the families of the slain. What evil we have seen....
  2. Well done guys, you did it again. Another nice addon!
  3. MJ! Howyadoinman! I havent heard from you in a while. Kinda figured Washington had fallen off the earth. A PM is on the way...
  4. Ive got to agree with Lloyd, I like the DH2. Its a lot of fun and a challenge against better German birds, espesially with the limited ammo it carries. Its a trick to reload while your trying to keep an opponent in your sights... The model itself is very well done and it was the first model with that kewl rotary sound. Other faves? Probably the SE5 is an all time from way back as a kid. And ya gotta love the Bristol M1C. German birds? The shuckert and D8 are very cool.
  5. So tell me about this game. I havent heard of this one. Is there a demo anywhere? Maybe someone could post a few screenshots.

    Arcade games

Gee, you guys reminded me of when I was in the Navy. We had Galaga and Pacman in the crew lounge. The money put in them went into the crew recreation fund. I guess I paid for a LOT of parties... My faverite game was probably TRON, loved the light cycles and the MCP. That one was at the Armed Services YMCA in downtown San Diego. We're talkin very late 70's, early 80's here.
  7. LOL! Thanks guys, I can honestly say you all made my day. Im sorry I didnt see this a little sooner but the wife and I are getting ready for a move, packing and all. Speaking of my wife, the little sweetie made me a cake to go with a special dinner for my birthday. Then she gave two great books; one a pictoral history of the civil war with something like 4000 pics! The other, a book on English and commonwealth pilot wings called "Eagles Recalled". I mainly just collect U.S. WW2 memorbilia but the history is still fascinating, espesially as her dad was a soldier in the British army during the war and Ive always appreciated our good allies anyway. But the funniest part of my birthday was the card she gave me...starts out with a beautiful picture of a sunrise and a bird in shadow in the distance coming towards you..."Oh look! Here comes the blue bird of happiness to tell you how good you look on your 50th birthday!" You open it and inside is a picture of a dorky duck thats just landed in front of you and the words..."Oh wait, my mistake...its the duck of denial..." PS. It is conforting to say the least to know Im not the only geezer around these boards... now...where did I put that sliderule? Maybe it was near the wireless...cant seem to remember...
  8. Unfortunately, there is no way to save a track of your mission within the game itself. I would have loved to seen a function like IL2 in this game. But you can use programs sucH as FRAPS. Thats a fun way to make movies for any game and its pretty simple to use. Also, keep in mind that you can only change aircraft skins with skins you have. Check out the downloads section here at CombatAce for more skins for your planes and follow the simple install directions.

    Ya'll Take Care

Everything will go well Dave, so not to worry...that is until you try to go thru a metal detecter...take the train.
  10. Thanks Erik; hope I didnt sound too pushy. I'll give it a whirl later on.
  11. Some interesting facts about the Breguet from the book Silver Wings: A History of the United States Air Force... It was used by 16 US air units and was extremly popular with its crews. It was built entirely of aluminum except for wooden wing ribs, the fairings, and the fabric covering. It had provision to jettison the fuel tank if the plane caught fire in the air, a particularily desireable feature. It continued in production after the war, over 8000 eventually being built. Interesting plane and read... Thanks A-Team...
  12. Uh...hello....hello...
  13. Ya know, from appearances, its amazing men had the guts to fly in such rackety crates like that. Put me in one of those at 5000 feet and youd have fingerimpressions in the frame, vomit in the cockpit, and my knees shaking would probably rattle it apart... Cool plane Charles, looking forward to...flying...it...*hic*
  14. I was going to add another album to my existing album. I gave it a title, etc. When I tried to give it a catagory, it showed no listing of catagories. I clicked to try to add anyway, and of course an arror message comes bcak saying I cant add an album without a catagory being chosen. help...
  15. One of the things I LOVE about this game, and indeed the whole Strike Fighters series, is the interesting aircraft. Where else can you find a Bréguet Br 14 B2? Thanks Charles, very cool. Looking forward to this bird.
  16. Not trying to argue Buff, again simply stating an opinion here...But concerning MP, I think its reasonably obvious that far more people would MP if the opportunity was there. An AI will never replace a real human foe for challenge and excitement. If there are only 5% playing MP right now with FE and the whole SFP1 line, then maybe its because of the lack of meaningful MP. Compare this sim MP with say F4 or IL2 or RB3D or heck, even an older sim like F-22 lightning 3. MP is hardly not popular with literally hundreds online at almost any given time in hyperlobby alone. All the games Ive mentioned are older sims, some might even be called simlites. But the games still hold a fascination as much due to MP as any other feature of the game. Improved AI is all good and well, but the continual circle fights I get into with the AI start getting a little old. If TK doesnt want to improve MP or any other aspect of playability for whatever reason, its his game to do with as he pleases. But it sure coulda meant and been a lot more. Now that being said, I REALLY dont mean to discourage anyone, espesially the modding community. Thier efforts are what make this game more than anything or anyone else. The addon aircraft, ships, targets, maps, skies, screens, skins, utilities, editors, etc., etc. etc. have demonstrated what a dedicated community can do to improve a game. If someone asked me if I thought the game would be worth the money, I would honestly answer in the affirmative. I can say without qualifacation that I personally have gotten many hours of enjoyment over the years from this game. But I can also say the frustration level has been there too. And I suppose thats what all the blather Im spewing is about, a certain frustration with the game Ive felt since early on. Bear with me and I'll go crawl back in my hole now...
  17. Craig, I mentioned a few minor things to him on the thirdwire forums. Some suggestions that many others besides myself have asked or hoped for. His response was it isnt his priority and if we dont like it, dont buy it. Gee, I guess if listening to his customers and making a few minor improvements to playability isnt a priority, then whats worth waiting for anymore. Just to clarify, playablilty is what truely makes the game enjoyable; it adds LIFE to the game; life on the harddrive, life on the storeshelves. A truely good game kindles imagination in the player, not annoy him. To not have to piddle with little annoying things. He says he wants us to be able to jump into a cockpit and fly? Well, why do we still have to waste our time doing individual loadouts and skins? If he wants us to feel like we accomplished something, how about giving us a medal screen that KEEPs our medals for viewing later with our records. If I want to just go up and godfight a single plane or two and not 12 or 16, why cant I make that selection? He says he wants the game to be fun, but its hard to enjoy when little things constantly annoy people. Dont get me wrong, there have been a lot of improvements to the game, mostly to the game engine and addons however. The prop flight model is looking real good though spins and stalls are a rarity. What!!!?? Flight without spins??? Ah, must be that simlite thing rearing its head again. The GUI is the same as SFP1 with the same niggling things still there, or in some cases, not there. MP hasnt improved a whit as far as I can see; stark testament, take a look at hyperlobby. Clouds and water did finally catch up to the competition so no complaints there. I understand he's a small business, but he's gonna stay that way if he doesnt listen to what people want. People vote with their wallets, its life. The dedicated community and their support is why I keep coming to the forums, not thirdwire...I'm sorry to say I doubt I'll be buying anymore TW products. I know all the TW afficiandos will have my butt for saying this, but really, Im just being honest. As much as Ive enjoyed the game over the years, it still lacks so much. This GAME will never score past a 70 with me. Its my humble opinion...
  18. Did he say bristling with machine guns???!!!??? pcpilot remembers the horrors of gotha defensive fire, gets dizzy, swoons, and faints...
  19. Whoa! Most excellent! Been hoping this plane would make an appearance in FE. Thank you for all the work fellas, its MUCH appreciated.
  20. Your family is in my prayers. Sincerest condolences; I know what its like to lose a brother; Ive lost two.
  21. Just to let you know Im looking online for any cockpit photos; nothing yet. Found quite a few color profiles, old black and white pics, and line drawings of the outside however. You might check with TexMurphy about help on the FM.
  22. Gotta say this plane is REALLY nice; well done to all concerned! I was flying and at one point in a furball, I stalled and the plane actually departed controlled flight! I pulled it out of its flat spin barely 300 feet above the ground! I have NEVER had that happen to me in an aircraft in the Strike Fighters engine...very cool!
  23. Yes, we do exist, though the true "southern way of life" is'nt always easy to apprehend these days with everyone speaking like newscasters, political correctness rampant, and folks often too busy to be polite anymore. However, glad to say, it is still out there. Dont let the hick stories worry you, there are oddballs whereever you go; try L.A. one of these days, lol. Keep in mind too that the term "redneck" is often looked at by folks who live in the country north or south as a compliment. It comes from blue-collar laborers proudly earning their money outdoors, like farmers, construction, oil rig roustabouts, etc. Jeff Foxworthy said it best when he called it a "glorious lack of sophistication"...I always liked that. So sit back on your porch after a hard days work, wave to your neighbors, have a coke in the bottle half filled with ice, and listen for the wife to hollar suppers' ready; that means fried chicken, mashed taters and gravy, and an ice cold watermelon! Then later on, sleep comes easy in Gods country... PS. I might also point out that that good flag whom so many like to equate with racsism these days, still stands for freedom, pride, and honor to some of us, even to this day.
  24. Im going to post this at my church here in Montana; good one Dagger. PS. Still cleaning milk off my monitor...
