IIRC it's a what if. The Russians still use the A-50. -
List of Files for Operation Darius 2
Menrva replied to PFunk's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Well, there will be pros and cons. In my small terrain there is Iraq for ground skirmishes at the border (there was Operation Marathon, the specific ground version of Operation Darius). I also added working Blue Side SAMs, and the terrain has got specific targets like Nuclear Power Plants in Iran. But there's the problem you described about SAMs ranges. Gepard's terrain focuses more on the Strait of Hormuz, and so you have other Air Bases for allies and enemies, other targets and a new frontline so to speak. It's very big, so planes may go low on fuel easily since there is no in-flight refueling. Your choice. I was hoping to see it on my reworked terrain, but I never thought about SAMs causing such trouble. -
Su-27M T-10M (Original Su-37 Repainted)
Menrva replied to bazillius's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
I really like what you've done. Any chance to see a Su-35S (basically an upgraded Su-27M/Su-35 introduced in 2011) using the same plane model? We miss many Su-27s and derivatives. Also, I suggest that you use this cockpit that YEYEYE's made specifically for the modern Flankers: https://combatace.com/files/file/15045-modern-flanker-cockpit/ -
List of Files for Operation Darius 2
Menrva replied to PFunk's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Good news! Yeah, the terrain is around 60% of Real Life size. I remade it so because the game has no in-game refueling, and other small issues would arise with bigger terrains. Now your point brings me to another question; since stock SF2 terrains are all 60% of RL size, what are the ranges of the stock SAMs? Are their ranges halved or do they reflect the RL values? -

Swedish Campaign (The Scandinavian Front)
Menrva replied to JonathanRL's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
It will be even more amazing. JonathanRL is in the process of updating his campaigns using my recently reworked Sweden terrains. The original terrain was bugged in a number of ways. Also, IIRC there will be some little additional content. So... keep your eyes open! -

Coms problem
Menrva replied to Tommy2Fast's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
No, it's the contrary. When it's "missing" from your mod folder, you'll be using the original files of the game, which are compressed in .CAT archives. This is why I suggested you to remove any custom .ini files from your Flight folder, because they are being used instead of the original ones. You'd better remove the FORMATION.ini file. There is no real need of using custom ones. -
Coms problem
Menrva replied to Tommy2Fast's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
That's strange. So I suppose you are using a modded folder. If so, you might have files with the .ini extension inside the Flight folder. Try to remove them and report back. The most probable to cause the issue, if present in your Flight folder, could be COMMDATA.ini, FLIGHTENGINE.ini and FORMATION.ini. Maybe one of them is the culprit. Some mods are older and use outdated .ini files not updated to later standards, hence why you might have problems. But first, are you to the latest patch level, July 2013? For other game versions, I can't be sure about what might be the reason. What I said above should make sense though. -
Coms problem
Menrva replied to Tommy2Fast's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Does it happen with stock or custom aircraft? AFAIK there is a "bug" where orders given to custom, user-flyable heavy bombers can cause a crash to desktop. SF2 was not intended to be used to fly with heavy bombers, so I always leave those to the AI. -
Libya, Central Mediterranean (1980-2011)
Menrva replied to Menrva's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Ground objects affect variety of the friendly and enemy units that can spawn. Terrain's enemy nations are limited to just Libya, hence why you might have the same objects spawning. Unfortunately, many ground objects lack a _userlist.ini file listing all the “real life” user nations for said ship or tank or whatever. I suggest that you download eburger68's ground object packages (SF2 SAM Pack, SF2 AAA Pack, SF2 Tanks Pack, etc.) as they include various fixes. Apart from that, I think nothing's wrong with your configuration. I usually get the same objects spawning because of the reason above. -

Menrva replied to 1977Frenchie's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
@1977Frenchie About the problem with the radar on the previous version's cockpit, were you talking about the RWR? The AVIONICS.ini file was looking for the FA-18A_RWR.lst file, while your plane folder contained a file named as RWR.lst. The previous cockpit is way better. If the problem was the RWR, simply rename RWR.lst to FA-18A_RWR.lst Oh, I almost forgot, thanks for sharing ;) -

Forrestal? Hmm, I swear there should be another version that is non-DAT. I had a look with the search function and I found this thread: https://combatace.com/forums/topic/83441-us-navy-carriers-class-forrestal/?tab=comments#comment-670657 -

Sweden, Baltic Rim (2004-2018) Terrain March 13th, 2018 (1st Release) by Menrva >For Strike Fighters 2: Europe, Recommended Full-5 Merged This is a complete remake of the Sweden terrain made by gillg, but set after the Cold War era. What began as a simple tiling bugfix, for JonathanRL's The Scandinavian Front mod, turned out to be a huge overhaul upon noticing a number of inaccuracies. The terrain has been retargetized and hand-tiled to a good extent; major changes have been done to the Baltic states, which were pretty inaccurate in terms of target locations. Some rivers have been added and/or retiled to mimic Real World courses. Numerous target areas, including airports and highway strips, have been added in order to expand playability, targets of opportunity and year range. This terrain features a fresh new 250m resolution heightmap (instead of the stock 500m resolution), allowing for greater details and precision in elevation changes; overall it provides the whole terrain with a better look. The terrain spans from March 30, 2004 (the beginning of NATO's Baltic Air Policing) to December 31, 2018; it is designed for The Scandinavian Front's scenarios by JonathanRL, taking place after the Cold War era. This terrain is a standalone version of the one which will be included in the last iteration of the TSF mod package by JonathanRL. The terrain that will be included in the TSF mod package will likely differ slightly from this one, so users are advised to keep that in mind. Also, this terrain uses only a single tileset. The TSF's version will use different tilesets according to the season, as originally designed by our fellow modder, Stary. Targets reflect Real World events as accurately as possible; for instance, some airfields won't be available after a certain date and/or will change name according to historic changes. Off Map Airbases have been added and long range AI flights can be generated from them, if you have SF2NA. Most of the main targets have been placed accurately in their Real World locations. Due to the complexity of the area, some inaccuracies are to be expected, but I did my best! Ground Objects are not included. Download JonathanRL's The Scandinavian Front mod package to have all that you need for this scenario. >Credits (in no particular order): -gillg, who created this terrain and whose work I have admired during my rework. I can only imagine how much time he spent on tiling roads and rivers from scratch! -JonathanRL, for his exceptional TSF2 mod package, which prompted me to do something to help improve it. -Wrench, as he is always glad to help us fellow terrain modders. Thank you, sir! -swambast, who provided me with invaluable help in tracking and fixing common and uncommon bugs. -gerwin, whose TFDtool has proved to be essential in today's terrain making. If the terrain is pretty accurate to RL it's also because of him. I included his very nice Airfield 7+8 Addon Pack, too. -mue, for the improved shaders he made, which I have included and reworked for the terrain, and for the tools he made for SF2 modding. -luk1978, for the waternormal bitmap he shared at the SF2 screenshots thread. Your mods are very interesting! -MigBuster, I have included some of his great hi-res textures for runways. -Stary, for the wonderful tileset he made exclusively for the original Sweden terrain included in the TSF mod package. -Gepard, for his great tutorials about terrain making, in the SF1 Knowledge Base at CombatACE. It's a gold mine! -tiopilotos and Stratos, who always support me during my terrain remakes. Thank you, guys! -krfrge, who has produced a tutorial for recreating SF2-like planning maps, which prompted me to work on templates and my own high quality planning maps. Thank you very much! -comrpnt, for his Approach and Airfield Lighting Pack mod packages for SF1 series, which I reworked and included. Because this terrain is a rework of gillg's fantastic creation, I included his ReadMe file from his original package, to the end of giving proper credit to everyone involved directly or not. >Disclaimer: This is a freeware; yet it can be redistributed ONLY in other CombatACE mods/mod packages. Any changes to the terrain package's files and/or any copy-and-paste attempts of their contents are NOT authorized if you plan to release them in other mods. But permission might be granted to those who request it to me at CombatACE. This terrain may NOT in any way, shape or form be used in any payware additions.- 2 comments

List of Files for Operation Darius 2

You have my permission, of course! Thanks for asking, it never hurts! Can't wait to see Operation Darius 2, with accurate OOBs and set in 2018! The terrain was born for this in the first place!
