  1. Farewell Nicholas Winton

He passed away earlier today, aged 106. For those who don't know who he is, he's famous for saving 669, mostly Jewish children from Nazi occupied Czechoslovakia during WWII. He kept quiet about what he did for almost 50 years, until his wife stumbled across his scrapbooks that outlined the Kindertransport kids and the British folks who took them in. He was invited along to a 1988 taping of a British show called That's Life where this happened (this is the short version that's been all over the news): RIP.
  2. Warrior, while something that could convert LOD to Max and back would make personal modding easier in some respects, you'll find a lot of modders would have genuine concerns with having their worked tweaked and re-released.
  3. ...so the most sarcastic helicopter ever, then? :p
  4. Hey, that's pretty cool, but that Badger looking RAF delta on the cover has piqued my curiosity too.
  5. Jug Has Passed Away

This place won't be the same without you. Godspeed Jug!
  6. SF2 Soviet Transport and AWAC Aircraft by Veltro2K

Sorry Wrenchy, just edited so the pack reads as including the Tu-114 Cleat, not the Tu-144 Charger (Concordski). :)
  7. Rebels trying to shoot down Syrian Su-22

Swing and a miss. Unless all those Lebanese and Afghan weddings I've been to where it was yelled in celebration of couple's union was really just each family celebrating their child's conquering of their new spouse... F*cking great food at those weddings, though! Lebanese people know how to thrown on a spread!
  8. Rebels trying to shoot down Syrian Su-22

Yeah, I know what it means, but it's used in the much the same way as we use OMG! in English languages, as form of exclamation.
  9. Rebels trying to shoot down Syrian Su-22

I know the use of 'Allahu Akbar' is the equivalent of saying 'oh my god' here in the West, but I think I'd be pretty concerned if most of the folks in my unit were yelling 'oh my god' like a bunch of teenaged girls. Unless they were actually teenaged girls, it wouldn't fill me with a lot of confidence...
  10. US Navy F-16N

Does anyone have any actual information or imagery of the original concept for the carrier based F-16N? Whenever I've searched for it, all I get is info on the current USN F-16Ns above.
  11. Saudi Arabia is Hitting Yemen

Come on Dave, April 1st is 5 days away-- whoa... Shit, well Hell's frozen over...
  12. Resurrected my WH 40K

What's that one on the very left? It looks just like our old M113 Buckets we have in the ADF! lol!
  13. PAK TA ?

Look at those giant intakes. That ain't stealthy from the front. Though, I get the concept of a 'stealth transport' for the same reason I get a stealth bomber. I just don't think it's either feasible nor practical right now.
  14. PAK TA ?

Looks sweet, but I have 2 issues with this. 1. That wing clearance is LOW for a transport. I doubt my wife could drive her hatchback under that wing without hitting it hard, and it's tiny! And 2. If this aircraft is meant to be stealthy, those three very large intakes with fan blades situated so far forward, even if they're RAM-coated, are going to do away with any notion of it being stealthy. But this does look cool! Very Ace Combat III!
  15. From what I understand, they operated primarily with the invasion stripes and were either painted on-route, or when in theatre, though this wasn't completed entirely before ops started. From a technical standpoint, you'd be accurate with either, but I think you'll be more accurate with the stripes. Are you using the RAF-styled blue/white/red roundel for these furies? I'm just checking because the Roo-roundel wasn't implemented until '56.
  16. Il-2 '46's new supermod!

Sam this the other day. The amount of work that's gone into this is insane! Plus the inclusion of modern era jets-- just blew my mind!
  17. That Fretlin/Timor Leste insignia, is that a decal or part of the skin itself?
  18. Problems with the MERs notwithstanding, those Pommy E-models look amazing!
