How come not a lot of modding?
Polovski replied to DukeIronHand's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Hi Lewie, We are very pleased for people to offer genuine help but the main problem is not making an exterior of a craft, often that's a relatively quick part. It is making a fully complete useful model for OFF. Often it's only the basic external view of the model which every new modeller makes and usually learning Max/Gmax AND CFS3 requirements is just too much for most people. Other issues include making a good Virtual Cockpit with enough detail for example and also the conversion to CFS3 specific requirements, animations, dials, etc (and OFF's, for example texturing to our requirements). Converting often would take us nearly as much time as making a new one! I am not exaggerating when I say I have personally spoken to around 25+ modellers who wanted to help - I sent all the info, they started a model got part way through the exernal view then decided to stop, or donate, or move on etc. We have time constraints too, many people worked on 1 model for a year (some for 2 or more years with no finish!) in their spare time, then decided to move on with it half done. It's the time required and commitment and steep learning curve that often floors most contributors but if you are making models and still going, then you have some ;). If you think you can learn to make a CFS3 version, maybe start with converting one you have (useful 2 seater as an example) we could discuss of course ? -
Matt wrote an outstanding score for Between Heaven and Hell, and I think we can post that we are lucky enough to have him write another great one for P4 too :)

The SPAD and I must nee TrackIR.
Polovski replied to Wodin's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
We don't fake the views, we make the craft, then put your head where it should be :) With TrackIR you can drop the nose, then look up over the wing some to help you target before you dive fully and attack. You could try [ ] keys to zoom out, or press scroll lock to allow the view to be changed with thumb panning. You can also raise / lower static views with keys (can't rem shift+backspace etc I think, check the key chart and controls in sim. -
In advance of Burns night...

Olham think you may have mixed up Yorkshire pudding with something else http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yorkshire_pudding "Yorkshire pudding is cooked by pouring a thin batter made from flour, eggs, butter and milk into a preheated and oiled baking pan." They are lovely though with a traditional Roast, roast potatoes, beef, veg and gravy :) -
Do Brisfits have inbuilt tank piercing rounds?
Polovski replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Brisfits were used for years after the war due to them being great aircraft. Also the version we have is twin rear guns = lots of lead :) -
Note this is NOT a radar device, it's actually an "Awareness" device. Not ALL enemies are always in your "awareness" radar. The ones you see there are ones you may be aware of ;) Friendlies that are yet unrecognised will cause it sometimes until you get closer to identify and they turn from white to blue.

Request help with joystick
Polovski replied to Interlocutor's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
You need to setup most settings in the sim too and saving as name "Mine". There are various tips in the FAQ for controllers, may be worth a read through. -
What is the #1 feature you would like to see in P4?
Polovski replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Problem is many craft had no trim at all. Yes some could be altered with different rigging for some pilots but for many the traits would still be there - part of the charm of ww1 craft ;). So a tail heavy craft would always be a tail heavy craft even if they tried to rig it differntly - the quirks were often part of the design and the reason for it's success (or failure). "Trim" in some craft was a bungy strapped to the control stick. Some needed constant heavy forward pressure on the stick for example. Sopwiths and Se5 had some trim controls for some surfaces. Maybe it's possible with Joystick controller software to set up soem profiles? -

Harrier Takes her final Bow
Polovski replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
It's Ok the Libs have have a master plan. We discuss with our enemies not to attack until 2020, which of course they will oblige! Also cunningly we will still arm the navy with little rocks which can be obtained very cheaply. As the new Brick-o-Carriers sail by an enemy a shout goes up "Heave!" and all the guys lob rocks at the enemy. -
Transferring to an enemy airfield?
Polovski replied to vonOben's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
The front lines move 12 times in OFF, that copes with most of the major changes in WW1. However in real life the lines changed in small areas more often. This means we have to make 12 sims, 12 landscapes with all the airfields and objects placed etc etc.. It's a sim of the war rather than all of it, but it's the best we can do without going <more> insane :) Also just remember it is a war so odd things can and will happen :), maybe it was captured whilst you were in the air :) -
RNAS-1 Campaign Mission Error
Polovski replied to MikeDixonUK's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
Probably a bug, suprising there's not more considering the colossal data in there, but we'll check , proably fixed in P4 anyway. So ignore that date for now.. -
Hi James, BH&H is definitely a physical DVD only. HITR add on is electronic only. This is explained on the website, so ignore Avangate's comments they are confused there. Normally you would have the disk within 2 weeks to most places, but some countries such as Greece can take a bit longer. We normally ask you wait at least 10 business days, but of course now we are now into Christmas shipping delays so it may take a bit longer, and of course it does vary from country to country. The VAST majority of DVDs arrive - very very few have not arrived on the first try. Please send your order number and the email you received from Avanage to support <at> overflandersfields.com For future reference for anyone with similar issues please email us rather than posting here, we don't necessarily check here everyday or for support issues.

Just wondering if the some cameras have any processing on board and some have none? Just as some built-in sound cards use a fair bit of CPU, and some have their own processing units.
-
No it would not be Ok - sorry. Please read what I said there. "but we do not want vehicles or facilities etc taken from OFF appearing in downloads, no." "...If then want to put the missions for download for everyone, then they must NOT include the actual OFF vehicles or facilities objects, just the text mission you made, and instructions on how other OFF owners can do import their objects themselves into their MAW install." Basically, anyone who wants to use anything from OFF (for example objects, scenery, textures, or aircraft etc) needs to own a legal copy of it!
-
"least five executive committee members "personally assured" Prince William and David Beckham they would vote for the England bid, only to back other contenders in the first round. " Obvously their word is their bond.
-
Hi PRang, it depends on what you mean exactly. Sure you can make missions but we do not want vehicles or facilities etc taken from OFF appearing in downloads, no. But you can import models from YOUR OFF install into YOUR MAW install and make your own missions accordingly. If then want to put the missions for download for everyone, then they must NOT include the actual OFF vehicles or facilities objects, just the text mission you made, and instructions on how other OFF owners can do import their objects themselves into their MAW install. Is that what you mean?

Just a theory I'm not a CPU expert but it may need to be on a separate core completely (think core 0 and 1 are basically hyperthreading?). Maybe try CFS3 on core 0 and FacetrackNoIR on CPU 2?? It seemed to work fine for me at default settings in OFF though (Phase 4), no fps issue. Although I will have to play with sensitivity as it took large head movement to move in sim. I have an overclocked quad core i7 920 on Windows 7 64bit. I noticed my webcam uses 11% CPU approx, maybe others use more CPU too? Webcam is Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000. Also not sure it's important I noticed when it was tracking my eyes etc that it sometimes moved the eye dots to nose area or something, (as if it thought my nose area was where my eyes were ;)) but worked ok.
-
Thanks for your efforts V4Friend, CFS3 is quite CPU intensive program. I wonder if telling the program to use another separate core might help?

Clouds and Flight Altitudes
Polovski replied to MikeDixonUK's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Thanks Mike, sounds like a good idea, although also you'd need to have some above the cloud layer too sometimes. -
Tears as last Harrier jets leave Ark Royal
Polovski replied to MigBuster's topic in Military and General Aviation
Nuts, and from a government made up of the parties that the people did not vote for - marvelous. I think we'll defend the Falklands using some rubber dingies and papier mache aeroplanes painted up like real aircraft. The beauty of it is, all the billions saved are now being offered to help Ireland out of their mess instead, but at least the bankers will be ok.. hurrah :)
