Question about the F-15 S/MTD
1977Frenchie replied to tonipm99's topic in Military and General Aviation
There is plenty images available of this particular bird... The F-15 S/MTD is an American test aircraft with canards and 2D thrust vectoring nozzles (that was later upgraded to 3D thrust vectoring). It was built to study the effects and advantages of thrust vectoring nozzles. It was later used as the F-15 ACTIVE (Advanced Control Technology for Integrated Vehicles) from 1993–1999 and from 1999 to 2008 for the Intelligent flight control system program. The two cockpits were equipped with the electronics of the F-15F Strike Eagle, while the canards are the horizontal stabilizators of the F/A-18 Hornet. So the Canards are okay, the exhaust nozzles??? But for the Camo... forget it as it was a NASA bird... -

TeargasHorse : by doing that, put full flaps out + AB and hope for the best because plane will now be heavy WITHOUT the catapult push. If plane with no AB, prepare to bail out :) For Sheriff, this is great to do. I practice in-cockpit landing this way but it is far more challenging to do an approach in the intention to properly land and miss all the wires :) When about stall speed it's either you make it or not. Want to add more challenge : land with enough fuel to do 1 approach only... -
Hi all, A few weeks ago i made a post concerning changing my computer and got a few advice. I previously had an Acer i5-5200U/8GB RAM/ GFX 840M (my wife will get it as is old laptop is about to die) and even if it was not a beast it was way better then what i had before. BUT i could run SF2 in unlimited détails but that was not fun to play over North Vietnam with all the add-ons installed and forget time compression :) I could only play with some détails at high and other at off (mirrors/reflections). I made a test last night before installing my new computer and with the F-14D on the US southwest map (full détails) i reached an average FPS of 17 with a max of 37FPS. So after checking what i wanted and checking different advices, i put my hand in the wallet and ordered a DELL X51R3 (i7-6700/16GB RAM/GFX 960/256GB SSD + 24'' monitor) and installed this beauty last night and... just awesome. I re-installed everything on the SSD, put everything at unlimited and re-run the F-14D on the US southwest map. average FPS was 58, with a max of 198FPS! Graphics are amazing and no hesitation on the frame rate, even at a time compression of 32x :) I tried back over North Vietnam and results were pretty similar (average of 48FPS, max of 132FPS and smooth run at 32x time compression). So, more then happy with my new rig. The machine is amazingly quiet (highest speed reached by the cooling fan is 17%. This one is fast also (loading game time is 2 sec. time to be in mission is 8-10 sec.). Graphics are amazing... In one word : Awesomeness! Sure the SSD help here. So that was my life last night :)

As far as i know, you ''can't''. If you are on empty load (no more weapons) and depending of the plane you are flying you might be able to take off again, but not from a catapult position but from the landing point. I did it numerous times with F-14's and F-18's. Unless there is a mod somewhere that can aloud us to be catapulted again that would be great. -
Hi All, talled a while ago the wonderful pack made by Wrench decided to let go the navy and join the Air Force, but 2 planes are having slight problems. Note that these are per the download, no modification have been made. P-51D : No propeller are showing when engine is running, but appears when engine stop. (i don't have this problem with the RF-51D). B-29 : Sit still on the runway but when i apply the throttle the plane is bouncing crazy but won't roll. (this happens on every map we have). Any clue on how to solve it?

I knew that on the graphic board, the GTX 745 would be put to it's limits. Considering i currently have a 840M and that the 745 is on average 26% better, i would stick with it in the short term. Is not satisfied, will upgrade it. In the installation, i will put on a SSD that will handle Windows10 and add some RAM to put it up to 16Mb. I should see a great improve just by adding a SSD as i saw it. Thanks Mig for the inputs and thanks to the others also!

Hi all, I'm considering buying a affordable PC for playing SF2 and few games (newer ons beiing World of Warships). No big video editing, no play on more recent games. Will do various office applications with it, but nothing graphic related. Came through the HP Envy 750-109 which specs are : HP ENVY 750-109 Computer Tower: Superior Design. Having exceptional sound quality and video graphics is certain with the HP ENVY 750-109 computer tower. With high definition audio, including 5.1 surround sound, and NVIDIA GeForce graphics card, the HP ENVY makes entertainment come alive. Processor: 3.40GHz 6th generation Intel® Core™ i7-6700 RAM: 8GB PC3-12800 DDR3L-1600 SDRAM memory Hard drive: 1TB 7200RPM Serial ATA hard drive Included in the box: HP ENVY 750-109; wireless chiclet-style keyboard with volume control and optical mouse Language: Bilingual Up to 4178MB Total Available Graphics Memory as allocated by Windows 10 Sound card: High Definition Audio with up to 5.1 surround sound capabilities Ultra Slim Tray SuperMulti DVD Burner Media card reader: HP 7-in-1 Media Card Reader-Supports SD, SDHC, SDXC, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Select, Memory Stick PRO, Memory Stick MagicGate Wireless: Integrated Bluetooth® 4.0 and Wireless LAN 802.11a/b/g/n/ac featuring Dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz) 1x1 technology Warranty: 1-Year limited hardware warranty Operating system: Windows 10 Home Processor: 6th generation Intel® Core™ i7-6700 processor Memory: 8GB PC3-12800 DDR3L-1600 SDRAM memory 1x8GB Hard drive: 1TB 7200RPM Serial ATA hard drive Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 745 graphics card with 4GB DDR3 dedicated memory Mouse and keyboard: Wireless chiclet-style keyboard with volume control and optical mouse Optical drive: Ultra Slim Tray SuperMulti DVD Burner USB ports: 8 (4 x 2.0 , 4 x 3.0) So with that in my, does for 899.99$ cad i have a decent computer to play SF2 full détails? Currently have a laptop with 8mb RAM, GeForce 840M card, i5 processor and can't run full détails... Any inputs will surely help my choice! Thanks!

2 dumb question...
1977Frenchie replied to 1977Frenchie's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
So, we can edit the parameter, nice find Do! As you put it, there is a 6 second check if fire will broke out. 10 percent chance fire will be taken out and 15 percent chance fire will go out of control? This is how i see it :) And yes, AI is great to put them out, but won't reveal their trick :) Piston engine aircraft often see their engine quit after a few hits, that is true. But the A-1 can sometimes take a lot of hit before getting out of action. -
2 dumb question...
1977Frenchie replied to 1977Frenchie's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Thanks for the reply. For the first thing : Whatever the distance, i will see in red the enemy aircraft type (like MIG-17F, or ace name if pilot is), but not the plane icon. On the Blue side, i have the plane icon and flight ident. (like Rambler, Ford, etc.). I think that one of the mod installed might have removed it, but which one, can't remember? :) For the second: i don't know how to really take them out. If flying high (12-15k ft , i saw over time that fire is took out if going higher (like 20-25k ft) so air with less oxygen is taken in the balance?. If i'm ''mid level'' (6-12k) i dive as long as i can with engine off. If low (6k and lower), got screwed most of the time :) So, the line stating FireSuppression=TRUE will mean fire can be taken out by itself (but not always), but no way to adjust the time before plane is full of flames? -
Hi all, First : While in-game, on the map (Alt-M), i see ''red'' aircraft, but not the plane logo, just the names. Is there a way to solve this. Second : Is there a parameter to play with so when we have an engine flameout we have more time to try to extinguish the fire (like more then the current 15 second or so i have? Is that particular to every aircraft or a general parameter? Thanks!

View File 3rd Wire VA-176 A-1H Template A long time project of mine... This is my template for the STOCK 3rd Wire A-1H Skyraider. It depict the VA-176 A-1H with the "BEE" scheme. As this is my first skin and did not want to be too complicated, this is a single layer one. With time, i will surely evolve :) Just unzip the folder in your object/aircraft/a-1h directory. Add the following in the A-1H.ini : [TextureSetXXX] Directory=VA176BEE Name=VA176BEE Nation=USN Squadron=VA-176 "Thunderbolts" Specular=0.000000 Glossiness=0.000000 Reflection=0.000000 XXX stands for the number in sequence. I added another squadron patch then the VA-176 one used in the A-1 skin pack made by Wrench. So if you have then (hope you have) you will be able to find mine in the drop down list. This skin is for an A-1 right out of the paint shop, so don't expect a dirty one here! the template is jpeg format 2048 x 2048. Work done on the skin : wings, body, tail, weapons pylons, tail wheel, main wheels, tail hook, engine, propeller and interior of the speed brakes. Now it's yours to enjoy! Mario C. Almost 100% satisfied with the Bee. There is a slight adjustment to be made on it. I skinned the wings, fuselage, tail, pylons, engine cone, engine, props and the inside of the airbrakes. I will put 2 ''blank'' skin alongside the VA-176 one when i will put it for download so it will be a base for everyone to work on.
