  1. The medal citations you get in the game are kind of hilarious in how badly they actually match what happened during the mission. Just now I got a DFC for "flying into significant enemy fire with no regards to my own safety", when the truth of the matter is the engagement was between two Raptors and a pair of Fulcrum-As, flying 20k feet below us in the same direction. This was pretty much an execution...
  2. I know that - but if you have the Max files, turning an F-16 into an F-2 isn't tremendously difficult, hence me wondering if you're only doing skins. :)
  3. Are you only doing skins, or is there a chance for a CFT-and-Spine equipped F-2B at some point? Hmm. I should give skinning the F-2A a try, always wanted one in USAF service...
  4. I've been playing around a little with the game in the last week or so since I got it, but I feel like I'm missing something for that real cold war immersion - intermediate and short-ranged ballistic missiles. The only one I can name off hand that's actually in the game is the SCUD, and I don't even know if that can be fired, as it usually shows up as a strike target for single missions for me. I'd love for there to be missiles I actually have to get to on time before launch or my home airfield gets it, etc, or cruise missiles that I either have to destroy on the ground or chase all over creation before they take out something important. Now, cruise missiles such as the Gryphon GLCM and all the other low-altitude weapons can be handled pretty well by the game as is, especially since SF2NA. I haven't seen any ground launchers for the game yet, but I'm fairly confident that if one was built, it would work properly given that surface ships do. All the cruise missiles I can think of have ranges that are within the limits of the map (2500 km for the TLAM-A and GLCM), so there's no need for off-map launching tricks or such either. But how does the game engine do with ballistic missiles, especially with MIRV or MARV warheads? Most of these are also with the limits of the game range-wise, the SS-20 is the longest-ranged "tactical" missile I can think of and while it has a 5500 km range, that just makes it able to hit anywhere on the map. Can the game handle this? If it does, than I'm at least willing to try building some of these for the game, so people can build "scud hunts" etc with a little more urgency than the standard apparently non-functional scuds in the game...
  5. Won't the wing root tanks obstruct the flight control surfaces? The dorsal tanks appear inspired by the Typhoon, and while not the prettiest, they at least appear functional. :) Looking forward to seeing these in-game. Moar CFTs! :)
  6. Holy moly! Just the first part (of eight!) expands to 5.7 GB. Make sure you have lots and lots of room before installing this...
  7. The Super Hornet International came up in a discussion on another forum a couple of days ago, and looking at the pictures available has left me wondering, could these mods be added to the Super Hornet we already have courtesy of EricJ? CFTs shouldn't be any trouble, nor the sensors, but the thing I'm most interested in would be the weapons pod for stealthy weapons carriage. Can such a pod be made and animated without making it part of the aircraft itself?
  8. Nice! Can't download it right now, but it's on my list! Two quick ideas I had, seeing this - a squadron commander version (MODEX "111", otherwise pretty much the same); and a line version (switch the red for gunship gray). If you could make those as well, this excellent package would be even better! :)
  9. Is there a way to get more realistic sizes and durations for the nuclear fireballs? I flew a B-1 strike mission and dropped a 1MT B83 bomb on an airfield, but the fireball was fairly tiny, and disappeared after just a few seconds. According to Nuclearweaponsarchive.org, actual 1MT fireballs rose to around 60,000 feet, for the most part, and hung around for hours....
  10. I'd go for the i5, it's a lot more "future proof" than the G860 if nothing else. I'm still learning how not to get shot down, so I haven't tried the Vietnam campaign to see whether it'll bog down my i7.
  11. Ah, many thanks. Couldn't find anything about this in the knowledge base.. though that might be bad search-fu. :)
  12. Hi! I just installed the game and downloaded a bunch of mods (from here!), but looking at the way things are set up, I'm worried about running out of space on my C drive - just one of the mods I downloaded today totals 4 GB when installed, and my C drive is a 120 GB SSD... Is there a way to make the game look elsewhere for stuff like mods and savegames, or will I have to use annoying filesystem tricks to make the folder itself point to another drive?
  13. I feel kind of bad for making myh first post to these boards a request post, but since I don't have much else to ask about... :) First off, an A-5E Vigilante (basically a humpback strike A-5 with 1990s ordnance and avionics, possibly TF engines). I'm going to be building something like that in plastic in the next few months if all goes well. Second, the advanced Tomcats that got the axe in favor of the Super Hornet really need some love. Third, the A-6G and A-6H would be really neat, as would a strike version of the Prowler airframe. And finally, the FB-111H, a stretched version of the 'Vark that might have replaced the Lancer if Reagan hadn't resurrected it. I wouldn't say no to weapons for the above either - the SRAM-II and SRAM-T; TACIT RAINBOW; and AAAM for example. :)
