Wings over series SF1
RUSTYMORLEY replied to DEVIL11's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I am running Wings over Europe and Strike Fighters Gold on Windows 8.1, but I have to confess that sometimes the game crashes to desktop when I exit a mission. The only way I have been able to counteract this is by pressing pause before exiting a mission and then waiting a few seconds before pressing escape to the get to the debrief screen. Don't ask me how this works but it does most of the time and the crashes to desktop are now minimal. Maybee it has something to do with the amount of time it takes for the game to respond to user interface commands, I really don't know. You may be aware already that there are a number of updates / patches for these games at this site and also at the Thirdwire site itself but I believe that they are the same updates / patches. On top of that there are numerous add-on aircraft at this site and I have added about 30 new planes to my Strike Fighters 1 game and a similar amount for Strike Fighters Gold courtesy of the numerous, skilled modders and skinners at this site. My advice is if you can upgrade to Strike Fighters 2 series then do so. I only choose to stick with Strike Fighters 1 because you can't purchase a Strike Fighters 2 game on a physical PC / DVD disc, at least not in the United Kingdom. You can purchase Strike Fighters 2 in the form of a download from the Thirdwire site but I am not willing to risk putting my financial information on my computer anymore and subsequently online as I have recently had my debit card details duplicated and used by an online fraudster to purchase goods in my name. That's the best advice I can offer, hope it helps. RUSTY -
Ever since I was a little boy I have been interested in planes and aviation, and to this day that interest has not diminished. I started drawing aircraft at an early age and was facinated by WW2 aircraft and some of the really early jets which appeared after the end of WW2. When I first saw the movie Battle of Britain which was released in Britain in 1969 ( I saw it a couple of years later when I was old enough ) I was hooked. I got the same kind of feeling when I saw TOP GUN, even though the dialogue was a little bit crass and corny. The way they were throwing those jets around was incredible, and the much bigger F-14 Tomcat going up against the very agile and smaller A-4 Skyhawk demonstrated the sheer madness and crazyness of air combat which is carried out a very high speed.

Yeah, it looks okay to me, and this time we have got a lot more intruige and much more of a plot to this one as it tells the story of how the Rebellion obtained the plans for the first Death Star, as opposed to crash, bang, wallop and huge fight scenes. Don't get me wrong I like a good space fight, but I also want a good story which I can follow, and something which will keep me interested for about 2-3 hours. Looks okay and I am prepared to give it a view when it comes round.

I certainly wish we had one of these in SF.1. Very clean and graceful aircraft. -
Back Seat Driver
RUSTYMORLEY posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hi, guys I have a little bit of a problem and am asking for some advice. I recently downloaded a superb Mirage 2000 D for Strike Fighters 1 series. The 'D' version of the Mirage 2000 is a two-seat version and every-time I go to fly it I always end up in the back seat and find that I am unable to fly the aircraft properly. I have had a tinker with some files but despite my attempts to transfer to the front seat I can't make the move. I would like to ask how it is possible to transfer from the rear seat to the front seat. Thanks in advance for any help and advice. RUSTY -

Just to let you know logan4 it worked. Thanks for the reply and advice. Much appreciated. Cheers RUSTY -
It's the same in every country, most politicians are corrupted by power or else money. We have just learned that our Prime Minister David Cameron's father had hidden investments with Mossack Fonsecca, they are all liars, cheats and thoroughly corrupt.

What happened to Iran's super stealth fighter?
RUSTYMORLEY replied to MigBuster's topic in Military and General Aviation
I think that is all it was - a simple mock-up, possibly made of wood and other basic materials. I don't think that Iran has the necessary aircraft technology to produce such an aircraft anyway, and most of their combat aircraft are imported as well. It stands to reason if they had the means to produce this aircraft they would have rolled it out by now and western journalists would be invited to see it performing aerobatics in a staged air display. Smoke and mirrors executed very well by Iran. -
US Coast Guard drug interdiction
RUSTYMORLEY replied to Sheriff001's topic in Military and General Aviation
I am well aware of the massive drugs trade which is taking place across the US \ Mexico border and that this trade just grows year on year. I think it is well justified to shoot down or destroy any drug smuggling aircraft, ships or trucks which are bringing this poison into America. Don't bother with trying to spare the lives of the drug smugglers, just hit them hard and destroy them. -
SFP1 Memories - MarcFighters Skins
RUSTYMORLEY replied to streakeagle's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I still visit the site even today and have a poke around in the skins section, it's a crying shame that Marcfighters and Column 5 for that matter are no longer being updated. Both are very useful sites for skins and Column 5 was like a fricking sweet shop when I first found it, so many quality aircraft to download and fly. Download Aircraft - Yes... Download Aircraft - Yes...... Download Aircraft - Yes........... Download Aircraft - Yes...................whoopee Then I eventually came across Combat Ace, and generally speaking more or less everything is here. It's a great community with lots of talented Modders and skinners and lots of Aircraft and skins to enjoy. Many thanks Marcfighters, Column 5 and of course Combat Ace. -
Well not at the moment, but in the future who knows. Some planes I never ever expected to see have eventually turned up in the downloads section and every month there are a few more. !!!!

A 'Black Widows' Mirage!
RUSTYMORLEY replied to Spinners's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
Why would the Americans want Mirage's anyway. Haven't they got enough planes of their own. ????? -
Israel gets it's Mirage 5J's as scheduled...

.50 Cal Replacement sound?
RUSTYMORLEY replied to Spudknocker's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I had a similar issue with gun sounds and I decided to download a sounds Mods file from this site. Found some good gun sounds and changed a number of engine sounds in my game as well. Well worth downloading. -
Agree it is a suitable name on account of the bulbous shape of the ships bow.

Looks damn good graphics to me !!! -
Looks like a little OV-10 Bronco. This would be perfect anti-drug trafficking operations on the Mexico \ USA border. Can someone tell Donald Trump that he wont have to build a wall now.
-
Well I don't know how they made it but it is a damn good bit of film. For a few seconds I thought I was actually watching a real movie trailer. Great stuff.!!!!!!

This is a crazy f**cked up world.

VAL-4 back in business ?
RUSTYMORLEY replied to charlielima's topic in Military and General Aviation
Having flown the OV-10A quite a few times in my game I have to say that it handles well and is quite a useful little aircraft. I thought that the Bronco would have been phased out of military service by now but I am glad to see that it may be making a comeback for real and the model has infact been developed further up to the 'G' variant. Just goes to show that a successful aircraft can have a long service record, and even in the jet age those old props just won't die will they.! -
Upgraded to WIN10. Now jaggies appear
RUSTYMORLEY replied to FalconC45's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
To put it simply how many of you guys using Windows 10 now and running Strike Fighters, would recommend upgrading to Windows 10 and how many of you would have chosen to stay with Windows 7 or 8. -
Upgraded to WIN10. Now jaggies appear
RUSTYMORLEY replied to FalconC45's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I was afraid of this, I was looking to upgrade to Windows 10 myself and had wondered if there was going to be any noticeable degradation in my Strike Fighters game and my IL-2 Sturmovik set-up and it seems I may be justified in holding off for a while. -
Hmmmm, the makers seem to have strayed too far away from the original with this one, looks like I'll be giving it a miss.!!!
