  2. Any answer to a campaign glitch that makes all missions into night missions regardless of when they are 'timed' to start? I checked the latitude of the terrain file and it is relatively correct for the region; in single missions sometimes, you can 'debug' the night thing by changing the date from winter to summer, but that can't be done with a campaign. I think it's an artifact of Iceland being dark in the winter and light in the summer, somehow. But with the proper latitude in the terrain file it shouldn't matter. Everything else seems to load and work just fine. Any ideas?

The missions form a 'linear' style campaign experience with the aid of an included briefing book. I've been frustrated by SF2's campaign mechanism and wanted to put out mission packs that tell a bit more story and are a bit more immersive in nature, rather than letting the game's campaign code just generate mission after mission with no real sense of continuity or panache. The premise of the missions is a gradually escalating dispute between Japan and China in October of 2014. While the conflict is fictional of course, the dispute over the Senkaku Islands is quite real and has the potential to turn into an actual flashpoint in the eastern Pacific. Some of the facts behind the conflict are mentioned in the Intelligence Overviews in the Mission Brief Book. A full explanation of all facets of the mod is included in the README file in the zip file. That is the place to start for a full description of the mission pack, as well as information on required mods needed to play. The Senkaku Conflict Mission Brief Book is included in the zip file in .pdf format. You'll need adobe acrobat reader in order to use the briefing book- I don't expect that will be a big issue for anyone here. The briefing book for this mission pack is what ties the missions together and tells the 'story' of what is happening and why. Unlike some of my other mission packs this 'campaign' does not branch, so the briefing book is somewhat simpler than in other mods where I've used the concept.   5. Argh. This lack of a P-3 is seriously crimping my mission building plans. Found a few skins on the SF1 downloads section, but they are skins only and in any case I have no idea how to convert an aircraft from SF1 to SF2. I know some folks have done SF1 to SF2 conversions. How hard is this to do?

If you haven't seen the movie or 'know the story', so to speak, the brief book will bring you up to speed. The narrative in the briefing book provides some perspective on the 'crazy situation' from the deckplate level, so to speak. ;) The three missions are titled as follows: 101 Splash the Zeroes! 102 The Great Hawaiian Turkey Shoot 103 The Battle of Hawaii The first mission is straight out of the movie. The other two involve the 'alternate ending' we never got to see but really wanted to. For fans of this absolutely iconic movie, the screenshots included will give you some hints as to the content that awaits. Again, all instructions and the few mod requirements needed are outlined in the README file. Enjoy!   11. Do you happen to remember the website? I've got the whole soundtrack on CD and can edit audio clips to use, but I'm unclear on the legality of that, even in a freeware game mod. Is it the John Scott Music website or were you looking somewhere different? Thanks. -JM

  13. I knew someone was going to ask for the direct links.... Sorry, but I don't have them. All those mods are on this site, however. The filenames listed in the readme are the exact filenames. If by the TW F-14 you mean the stock one that comes with the game, any version playable in 1991 should be selectable from the loadout page when you go into a mission. In fact, if you don't install the Tomcat Superpak you might have to do that in order to get any plane to show up at all. I'm still relatively new at modding this game. Actually, your question makes me curious about a couple things. I haven't tried testing the missions on a 'clean' install without any of the mods from my list. I know some of them wouldn't work (the A-6 ones come to mind immediately,) but I'm curious now about the others, including the various ships that would or wouldn't show up. I may give it a whirl tomorrow just to see what happens. Truth is, when I started working on this I wasn't really planning on releasing it, so I wasn't too worried about all the mods I had installed. When I needed to add something like a ship type or the Harriers for the Nassau (which can't actually takeoff or land from the Nassau- I fake that part), I just went and found a mod that fit the bill and installed it. When I decided to release the missions and brief book I had to go back and sort out which mods I actually used. As for direct links? Wish I had 'em myself.

  16. There looks to be some good stuff on that site, but it looks like you have to jump through more hoops to gain access there than you do for a real life security clearance.
  17. Been scouring the downloads section and can't find one for SF2. Does anyone know if a P-3 aircraft addon exists? (Not even flyable- just AI controlled). Oddly enough I found a British Nimrod and the P-2V Neptune, but no P-3! If there isn't one, would anyone be interested in making one? That is WELL beyond my capabilities at this point.

Here's the setup: I'm currently editing a string of single missions (not a campaign) based on Red Storm Rising, but in this case there is no 'blue' portion of Iceland- the Soviets basically hold it all. First question: is there a way to edit the Iceland files or some such so that all locations in Iceland are made enemy locations? I'm not sure it's even possible to make this change at all, but if it is I figure someone around here would know how. Second question: As things stand now, in the mission editor I'm currently 'faking it' by simply placing red force ground objects in and around Kef and Reykjavik, and along the coastlines in what is technically 'blue' territory. The problem I'm running into is that I can't seem to get the SAM emplacements I put in to fire at me. I get the radar warnings, but no missiles fired. When I put ack-ack guns around the airport they will fire if I overfly them, but the SAM sites don't seem interested in engaging. Is there a trick to placing SAMs and radars so they'll fire? Or could the problem be setting up an SA-2 battery in what is technically 'blue' territory? I know I could probably invert the 'red' and 'blue' units to make western Iceland 'hostile', but my real goal is to turn all of Iceland 'red'. Any help would be appreciated, especially on the SAM issue- not sure if that's related to territorial boundaries or I'm messing up something else. Thanks!
