Stary replied to eburger68's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Eric, you've been busy lately! I have yet to find time for your NA expansion, and now OTC is here... we all owe you one for puting those together. Big one -

what's 1st Gen? -
Slarti all my ranks, medals and planes from year ago were erased when it went from closed beta to open, so I'm back at level 1, now with some Gladiators... Don't have time to level up
-
That's true, but FC level avionics are less survey than SF2 so I'd be up for such level addons

Version 0.9
303 downloads
Gepard's "Battle of Britain" and "Battle of Britain in the 60s and the 70s" terrains visual update. version 0.9 preview: 24 of April, 2013 NOTE: For modern computers with at least 768 MB (1 GB+ preferable) of video memory. This is new set of hand-drawn 2048x2048 tiles and associated .TOD objects for Gepard's "Battle of Britain 1.4" (and it's modernized version) terrain. You can download these great maps here: http://combatace.com/files/file/5203-battle-of-britain-terrain-version-14/ http://combatace.com/files/file/10371-battle-of-britain-terrain-for-the-60th-and-70th/ Right now it's sort of preview, with only summer set included (more below) as the size of the tiles makes it very big upload. Tweaked longer-range fading trees .fx shader included, best to play with ObjectsFade=FALSE and DetailMeshSize=8 or more (user's system depending, included screenshots taken with DetailMeshSize=10) however I take no responsibility for any damage caused to your system by setting too high values and frying your GPU. New waternormal.bmp for your kinky Channel-crossing (Cross-chanelling?) pleasures included. To install follow your instincts. Modified ini files for the "60s and 70s" version of the terrain included. Also I have included the core ini files made to generate in Terrain Editor the .TOD objects, experiment at your own risk (yet better don't!) Knows bugs/issues: As stated above, just summer set at the moment, more might follow.Given the engine limitations and the way the map was created, not that accurate from farmer's point of view (english landscape differs from french one IRL) and I generously gave myself full artistic license to improvise things (read: make them up) as I went with the project. No buildings in cities, as I refuse to kill the immersion of this terrain modification with stone-age tech box-type TOD objects. Blame Thirdwire for doing zip about it throught all these years. "Fair Use" CombatAce license apply. NOT to be included in (or reused for) any kind of payware addon/product without my authorization. You can tweak/modify and re-upload this set just give me credits as the original author. BoB map created by Gepard. Have fun! Stary -
SF2NA Iceland Classic TFD/HFD terrain
Stary replied to gerwin's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Knowledge Base
Gerwin, given as I've read in other topic you take a slight break for real life (which is understandable and healthy desision) to my understanding the current build of your version of Iceland should be considered "final" for some time, right? -

As Whiteknight wrote, not without the original max source file

Have to agree with you JM yeah, WW2 pack might be interesting, and yes, I don't need DCS fidelity addons, I need any addons
-
Frankly? I don't think so. Side note: Do we really need that level of fidelity from 3rd parties? I'm pretty sure freeware much less complicated addons will come first, somewhere near FC2 survey level

will there be post war set Kevin? -
Speaking of best ever made mission editor in a simulator, does Bohemia Interactive rings any bells..? I'm not negative, it's just the road map is hardly existent and at this pace the engine will already obsolete before we'll have a plausible set of ED or 3rd party addons to create some historic scenarios without using Doras as stand-ins for Gustavs, Mustangs for Skyraiders or F-15 for Zippers... all over nice yet 20 years old Crimea environment. My point is, cant those 3rd party grous sort of unite and do stuff like, say one does F-4 and Mig-17s, the others work on set of WW2 planes etc, now it's all-for-everyone, so some groups do the very same planes simultaneously (which WILL result in pretty flame wars after release, I assure you)

Strike Fighters 2 Screenshots
Stary replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Screen Shots
Russo, the intake could have use of few more polys, other than that awesome plane -
yeah... that AI Dora will be great addition... I can imagine recreating those famous Focke-Wulfs vs Flankers dogfights over Georgia from... "We at ED have no idea what to do with this great piece of software" war, ever heard of that?

TK reall should include this class assets in his patches IL2-alike (I bet most modders would agree)
