  1. EAWHS Files Section Updated

Attention, the old post about 160 and install/frontend support where moved into there own thread. RIBob, I think I have all the files needed now thank you. I may ask you to review my 3dZ help doc in the future.
  2. I managed over two or three days and nights to clean up the TOOLS section of the files I host on mediafire, and actualy provided file information for all the files on my help site. I know its not a big deal , but it was alot of work. I found some information I didnt know about and tools I wasnt sure about. I condensed some of the downloads too. The tool section is also part of the Reference, Editing, and Manager sections. The manager section I did only for the sake of doing it as most of those programs are too old for modern computers, unless you can get them running. I guess there was the original 3dzStudio program in dos, and a last beta version with a pascal source code. I don't have the source code for the Windows port of the 3DZ!Studio from Gurney or WB. I would like it as that program can stand to be improved. I did happen to find WBs three updates he made, as far a 2011 he was working on it for GUNSHIP!. Anyway alot of work, and the tool section still needs some consolidating of archives. The rest of the files do too, like all the add-ons but I doubt I'll fully get them done with a bit of help from someone that knows more about these files than I do. But that person hasn't stepped forward yet. Theres just so many directions i can go with me Help Site, and it occupys my time well enough when I can sit still long enough in front of my Computer. :) But The files do need work, but I can only move so fast without the volenteer help or knowledge needed. And the EAW enthusiast are sparse. okay, well thats what I been doing.
  3. 160 and Support?

I can also say, whom ever is happy with 160's external frontend, and have come a custom to it, and use it often and therefore remember the details you discover but not provided, then by all means I suggest you use and fly 160. I personally think all the work done on EAW is fantastic, and should continue, I even attempted to help those interested in the CodeGroups packaged version with a help document decribing the features of that version. However I have only so much time and the support was nearly non existent for new users, and to me, so I moved on to supporting EAW and EAWPRO more often as I get feedback and support from those people involved. Jel has an install tutorial at SimHQ for 160, I think it was revised to fix some errors in it, but the point is, installing it is not the real issue.
  4. 160 and Support?

I didn't write that quote, but I agree to it. Usually for every feedback that you get you should count more people are having the same issues. You guys must learn to take feedback as a good thing, even if you disagree with it. Thats how you improve something, In the case your frontend needs improvement, it needs details descriptions and the images you also can't provide. I said at least three times over the years I was having problems with it, to no avail, I try to help with feedback , but you codegroup fellas get all wound up for no reason. My suggestion to RIBob and others if your having issues with the frontend is to forget 160 and the like and move onto the more effective in game frontends within EAWs. 1.2 or EAWPRO or any hexedited ones. I have moved on myself, however if I feel I have enough energy in the end of the day, I may tackle the external frontend from time to time. You see 140 was so so for difficulty, but the single line descriptions in each category just is not enough to keep me a happy flyer.
  5. 160 and Support?

I understand Jel. But Did I say something about having to install it is difficult? If I did the only thing I can think of is that adding all the 7z zips was a bit time consuming. I do remember That there was a problem with the first two 7z needing a third to get it to run, but the instructions didn't say so. But as far as complaining that its hard to install, I just don't remember saying that. I know I mentioned the difficulty of the frontend for me returning to it over a period of time, and a friend didnt like it either. Could you link the SimHQ or CombatACE thread where I mentioned the install process was difficult so I can properly respond?
  6. 160 and Support?

okay, I love you to Rotton.
  7. 160 and Support?

Aw man, Rotton's punishing me (everyone) from getting a proper and new help doc. Because he thinks there is mis information with something to do with 160, when in fact I am informing them (and others) of the issues at hand to help. See, because you Rotton don't want to address them for what they are, doesn't mean its mis information, when in fact its helpful info for everyone. Look, you haven't help me since I been here 5 years ago or whatever, but what is my mistake is I keep having hope for you. I put that on my self. Its simple, I tried to show you your ways a few years ago and now even when the SimHQ moderator trys to help you understand things in recent times, you just don't get it either from him and consider it as an attack on you, when no one is attacking you really at all. lol So you come over here, which is fine, but isn't this neighborhood a little out of your way. I'd love to have a helpful you, but your not helpful in any fashion. and you mucked up my thread too, I'm not happy with that. :D
  8. EAWHS Files Section Updated

I been all over the place for files through the past 4 or 5 years. I'm just now trying to locate some 3DZ Tutorial Docs, but no body is coming through, even the people you think that would have them, are not stepping up. Check my post I think here at CombatACE, I posted something about the guides I'm looking for under EAW modding forum.
  9. If no one can provide details, can someone provide these tutorials: These should help me out alot in learning. -Shreck's 3dz Studio tutorial -Chompy's RS tutorial -Gurney's RS (BSP) Tutorial -RS pseudocode from MPS developer -Moggy's manual RS adjustment method -Crashin' Jack's 3dz tutorial Thank You in advance.
  10. EAWHS Files Section Updated

I cross reference files with web site info when i could. I have info on files that I don't actually have yet or ever. Anyhow, I found most of the popular web sites that remain within a decade after EAW was released. only cover a tiny fraction of what was really available over the years. What does that mean. It means there where no web site links or info on the files, perhaps maybe they where linked in a forum or passed around. Many don't include original archives or readmes. Making things even harder to distinguish. Anyhow. no work on the files in about a week. I usually work on them when i feel I can spend a good amount of time working with them.
  11. EAW Code-Group Standalone

Extract 129 to a safe location like you would have practiced with 1.2 and delete the eaw.ini that comes with it, then run eaw.exe as far as I know it should start up with standard screens. I have not had anything but 1.2 and an un-offical hack of the 1.26 and the un-official 1.60 versions up and running in the past year maybe. EAWPRO is a given and that's similar to 1.2 with the special effects etc though.
  12. View File EAW Code-Group Standalone Each one of these files can be downloaded separately. You do not need to download the entire large archive. (These packs where originally uploaded and posted by Jel back in 2019 I think.) #1. EAW126.exe: Gives you a 1.26E folder with no addons. The 1.2-E exe is effectively a 1.2 exe with a no CD crack and some other modifications which I can no longer remember. #2. EAW12X-126E.exe: Gives you what is effectively a 1.26E folder with OAW. OAW only has the two "E-" folders available so the user can pick either the 1.26E exe or the 1.2X exe from the code group with the 7217 fix The default ETO theatre is used. #3. 128eFAW2016.exe: Gives you a stand-alone folder with the 2016 version of Finnish Air War. It includes the FAW manager. The EAW exe used is a 1.28e version, dated the 27th November 2016, which was compiled by the code group. #4. EAW129 July2016: Gives you a stand-alone UAW1.29 installation It has the old and new map versions of the 1.29 exe, and 9 different theatres. BoB, DAW, ETO with planesets, Malta, Ray's 2015 ETO, SWOTL, SPAW, SAW, ETO Trains and barges. The "DSP128-9.exe" is provided as the file-manager. There is a file in the LongDirSets folder named "Mediterranean Air War (Malta and North Africa)" which should have been removed as it causes a CTD when selected. DAW and Malta are there in any case. However,DAW has the original dodgy planeset with some aircraft having the wrong nationality. The Malta theatre is just about the same, but has a more realistic planeset. #5. 1.28c_JellyPack.exe: Installs 1.28c with the DirSetExeManagerV5. filemanager. This enables you to select one of three versions of the eaw.exe, and eight theatres in addition to the default 1.28C ETO theatre which had the Allied Carrier. The theatres are DAW, KAW, Malta, Russia-Germany (winter), SWOTL, SPAW, SPAW45 and SAW. #6. 129EAW640x480.exe: This installs the special version of the 1.29 old map exe which uses 640x480 screens. It has a filemanager and a number of experimental WIP theatres that Moggy was working on. These were added to test the exe, but some are of little use as they are incomplete There is also the 1.28c version of VBH's Pacific Tide III. This version of the 1.29 exe was made for modders who want to re-vamp old theatres and use the 640x480 screens, but allowing the additional features of UAW1.29 to be used if required. #7. AcesOverEurope129.exe: This is Emil's old add-on that Modred updated and Jel repacked it into this form. Possible issues: You may need the VB runtime files for the filemanagers and OAW. Let me know if there are any problems Jel Submitter MarkEAW Submitted 06/20/2019 Category EAW - European Air War
  13. EAWHS Files Section Updated

Yes Sir. That Morais guy, he did a lot for EAW back then as well. Minor tools that where needed, and you probably still use. :)
  14. The aspect ratio of 4:3 Is what I prefer, you can stretch the image if you want. Some people call it wide screen when the do that but its not really. I have more info of course in another help doc on my site. I think I referenced it in the other doc :). Let me look it up.... https://eaw.neocities.org/eaw-known-bugs-feature-ideas.html#featurevideo
  15. EAWHS Files Section Updated

I did find some of the missing files in another folder. But I'll keep you in mind if I'm missing anything else. Thanks VBH. EDIT: I thought it was Alessandro Borges that made the first DOS Studio? (I have his pascal src and his 1st update(presumably his last) to his 2nd studio program)
  16. EAWHS Files Section Updated

Thanks VBH. Looks like I found another stash of studio files including the source code for I think two of them, one for DOS , one made in VB. Might be ColGibbons src from Gurneys Window version. Also found the Normals.exe source code too. But I yet to move some of the files into the proper folders to upload. (There actually already up there but, in the wrong folders and not filled out on my files.hrml help doc., so harder to find right now) I found some other tools that I thought I deleted, but I simple misplaced them. like 3dz Mirror rotate and nodeweld and such....I'm just glad there not gone. :) I don't know if I'll get to them this evening or not.
  17. EAWHS Files Section Updated

I would if I could get enough consolidation done. For an example, like files in the same archive together. I don't want to duplicate the entire archive as it would not be clear to anybody what stuff is what. I have a hard time tracking down detailed descriptions to alot of the files. I'll keep it in mind to try to provide adequate downloads here. I have been working on a modding archive outside of all this that maybe perfect here. Thanks BTW. Over and out.
  18. I just want to say Thank You to RIBob mostly in the past few months (skip 1 or 2 :) and recently for providing feedback openly and in PMs as he goes along with getting EAW and using my site for help. I directly tackle the problems he's having and suggestions, then clarify or write up new sections/topics in my help documents. Recently I moved help text around for installing EAW in special folders outside of the normal location for important reasons, and I then went through the entire doc making slight changes based on experiences he mentioned in-directly. As did a few others. I had fun writing the improvements to the install help docs recent changes and I am eager for you all to benefit from them. Any questions are viable even if you have not read my site. But for your own Help, please read the first few pages FIRST USE and INSTALL Help Documents before attempting adding EAW to your own system, follow the steps/preferred order in them.
  19. There's a 'nocd' for 1.2. EAWPRO has nocd and 'nocd-device' built in. EAWPRO also has a noOS fix too built in.
  20. After you said you tried NoCD exe's over v1.2, are you still running EAWPRO? It should say so in the lower left hand corner of the main menu screen. The cursor thing seems to be a very old problem, I only had that problem once, I run my eaw.exe either from a wrapper or directly by clicking on it. So I don't know for sure whats going on with it. I think Jel said run it from a shortcut on the desktop or from the taskbar to remove the arrow.
  21. Well if you have a v1.2 up and running then I guess you don't need the NoCD exe. The MOVIES.CDF is 1kb in size, so maybe you want it or not. The Empty Movie cdf is here http://www.mediafire.com/file/436z7q1zca8481m/SmallorEmptyMoviesCDF.7z/file The official patches I have here: (You only need v1.2 patch) http://www.mediafire.com/folder/aoueg9jmc21nt/game-patch-official Track IR: I have instructions from a few people here in the joystick help doc (scroll down a bit): https://eaw.neocities.org/joystick-controls.html#controlwork Thats primarly just simple instructions, nothing majorly detailed, that the Track IR device should have instructions with it.
  22. Yeah, no problem. Just ask your questions when your ready or need too.
  23. Hmm, the 'First Use' Help Document' on my site is where people should start. One guy on here had issues with the INTRO Movie, he said he read my site, but I don't think he followed it like he was suppose to or he would had solved his own issue rather quickly. -Don't Install, but select the files on the CD then copy them into a new folder on like your 2nd drive or someplace, check the install help doc. -You'll want the 1.2 NoCD EXE and the empty 1kb MOVIES.CDF file off of my file archives. (If you need help finding them, PM me). -Then get v1.2 running okay. Copy it and add the EAWPRO archive to it, over write files. -You should be good to go, you may want the EAWPRO exe to write its own default eaw.ini. -Its all on my site of course everything you need to know about getting EAW working....post here and I'll continue to help. -You may want to forget the D3DWrappper, depends if it will help, but using it could have issues at first...I can explain later.
  24. Stuck. EAW on windows 7

Well without the Visual cue of the planes, it takes something away from the game. Its just nice to see the planes to select, and the one you choose. Its a very important visual aid, at minimum the shape of the planes need to be present. But I understand you can't devote a whole new set of images to display under the names on the 160 selection screens. Or reprogram the picpln screens and the mission selection screens as well. I think the original stock game had the better results of selection screens, but not the best method from a modder's stand point. If the picpln could be re coded to except .png pictures of the planes / photos or 3d models, even .gif that would make it much easier. eh, I'm wishfull thinking and rambling. :)
  25. New animation codes in EAWPRO

Are these "animations" for the virtual cockpit views? To understand a bit, your using swappable 3dz models that would look like an animation when they swap back and forth? (Just a raw guess)
