Hello Again, I didn't mean some one named 'Again' only. I meant all fans of the mighty Su-33. I worked on the data file some more. Download this version. B e sure to back up the old one... Unzip and plop the new Su-33_Data.ini into your Su-33 folder. It won't work if your primary '.ini' file doesnot have the data file remark pointing to Su-33_Data.ini . This is easy to remedy. I have it working better than the old one. Its a little easier to control and it turns pretty well. I personally think it should sustain a higher turn rate still. I think the problem lies in those cryptic values in for example a section describing a wing's aerodynamic qualities. Too much drag somewhere. If anyone has documentation on the 'XXX_data.ini' file, please let me know. SU-33_DATA.7z

Original Skin by Bazillius for the Spectre8750 submission Su-33. They did all the real work. I did a quick tweak of a skin.jpg and a Su-33_Data.ini type file. Hope it goes thru the '33 is awesome! 11-01-2019: I made a reference to modifying the flight_data file above. I actually spent way more time trying to make the flight characteristics actually flyable on my system. If you try the plane and have difficulty, I enclose a Su33_data file. I also, explain what i did to the file. Ever since starting on combat flight sims have tweakeed flight characteristics. I'm embarrassed to say how long ago. Let's just say I more than could legally drink when DCS World's predecessor Flanker 1 or 2 launched. The point is, even so I am far from an expert. Perhaps someone could make it better.- 4 comments

My Hawkeye No Workee No More
Jon_Beers posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Hello Peoples First off: Love SF2...and hate to be a whiner and a not figurer outerer myselfer. Not expecting perfection for the money either. And yes have loaded mods. With that said, my AWACS isn't working (it flies/no broadcasting) and I did like that. As far as I know, Red Crown was a Vietnam, War thing only. AND other assets participated in the Electronics detection even back then. The AWACS is a nice touch and a change. I have the full 5 2013 level SF2 suite going...yes with mods. Nothing I'd expect to cause this, especially since the RED CROWN is working. If I have to, i could try re-installing NA then next the whole shoot'n match if that dont work. If I hafta...uugg! Oh, it WAS working then went back to Red Crown. Is there an INI that needs a setting change, something easy??? Would TW reply with an answer??? Thanks- 3 replies

Here's a Thanksgiving Present (for those old enuf to remember such things) I worked on the SU-33 Data file and got it to work better. I only tested it with a full weapon & fuel load doing basic moves/ not tried to dogfight it yet. I assume it would turn better mostly empty. It turns better and roll is more controllable. The Su-33 ought to be the or one of the top large frame AirToAir combat aircraft (non-stealth) worldwide. Easy to beat AIs in SF2. One thing, The ailerons were set (in my file anyway) to move on the Z axis, which looked funny in camera mode. Set that to X axis and most is right again. Oh, the "Su-27SM2" download (think I found it in one of the Campaigns previously mentioned) maneuvers excellently right out of the box. I tried some of its values in the SU33 datafile. I think I might make a SU33Data file using an entire Su-27SM2 datafile. Changing it's internal 'system names' and so forth. The canards in the SU33Data file could still be a part of problem and maybe the drag factor in the wings or fuselage are wrong. I will work on it til i can black you out with the su33 !! As any real fighter plane should. Bye SU-33_DATA.7z

I found the Su-33 was included in the 'StrikeFighters2 War for Taiwan' Campaign as seen on page 8 of user campaigns. Inside my upload here I reference The Modern Korean War Campaign as the source for the SU-33. I downloaded the Taiwan Campaign moments ago and found this on a readme: Su-33 Sea Flanker For SF2 ============================================= Heavy Naval Based Fighter By Insky Group This mod is for the SF2 Series. The Insky Group and the mod creators own the copyright of this aircraft mod, no commercial-use of any part of this mod is permitted. If you have any questions, you can go to the Strike Fighter forum in Insky BBS and post your questions. ============================================= Su-33 Model: jv447 ############################################################################### So that's the situation for now.

oops, i also added a edited weps.ini file. Even if u like it, u might want to comment out the intake missile entries. I'm not sure they used those low hanging missile positions on the jump ramp carriers. Also, I mention scaling down the skins to 1024 x 1024. I did not include a 2024 x 2024 jpg for the 'Tigers' Am not sure you'd notice the difference. Sorry.

LODViewer
Jon_Beers replied to mue's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
i guess the only option is to see if the driver is out of date. Of course, everyhing else seems to work. If it ain't broke.... anyway i atached system prop pics and what the lod viewer is doing. The menu or tool bar is missing, but i can access the menu anyway. I believe it failed to open a lod file. Bu, i only tried maybe one examp. it's okay, i'll live -
Where is or 'IS' there a SINGLEMISSION.INI IN SF2
Jon_Beers replied to Jon_Beers's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Thanks...yeah i found with the editor you cab set the 'home base' to none or use the 'ALT -N' (Bothering to read the documentation makes a lot of difference) Which is fine. Mostly i would want to have a reasonable match-up dogfight only thing. OR...fly strike escort which would be a scaled down alpha strike or whatever you call an air force strike. Probably a 'Strike.' (i maxed out the available memory for this computer and after 8 gigs i couldn't tell much improvement. 1 day if i live long enough, i will just have to own something akin to alienware.) I have to mention how awesome many of the add-ons are. These are some of 'MY' favs and are not meant to slight those not mentioned. I've always liked the phantom especially the 'S' model. (Even though it kinda drives like a truck) The TMF tomcat superpack is great. I can finaly fly the re-engined models And really like the Mirages, Rafales, eurofighters, & tornados etc as well And especially the atlas cheetah...i didn't even know anybody remembered that plane but me Go Navy!- 11 replies

Where is or 'IS' there a SINGLEMISSION.INI IN SF2
Jon_Beers posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I'm not finding this in the SF2 Forum and using the search is getting me there either. One thing I liked to do with the old SF1 was use the Single Mission option with Start Position 'In the Air' not 'Near Target.' I'm using the 2013 SF2 full five merged. Now I can only sart on the ground or "In air, NEAR Target." Not the end of the world, can probably get around it with the Mission Editor. But I did like the old feature. Is there a fix????- 11 replies

I found i can edit a simple mission pretty quick or use the "Alt+N" (that may not be the default keys) feature to jump to the action area after takeoff. You know, reading the manual or at least the list of available commands is still a viable option even today. :)- 11 replies

View File SF2_2008_Dhimar_Cheetah_C(DH).7z Always, shopping for more air frames due to long running conflict with neighbor Paran, in 2008 the Dhimar Air Force began operating a squadron of Atlas Cheetah Cz acquired from South Africa. I'd unzip the file into a temp folder and read the readme files. Its easy to install if you've modded your mod folders before. Basic Mod add on. Only tested on Full 5 merged. Mostly I think you'd get by with SF2 original & SF2 Israel to be safe. If you load the plane and files in you mod folders and for example and the big Arabic numbers on the tail don't show up, I'll have to find what CAB file they're in and modify the requirements. Original Work: Aircraft - Denis Oliveira Skin - paulopanz Coupi - data, cockpit, loadout.inis Decals - Spinners (SF1 Decal Pack) Ordnance Shop - 331KillerBee (Weps) Mirage IIIO - Thirdwire (DLC Store) Sounds - Thirdwire (?) This Mod by StoneAxe1492 I used Gimp for Decal and Skin modding. Notepad of course. I took the liberty of modifying the flight characteristics of this plane. If don't like my version simply use the original data file. (It may be a issue with my joystick/throttle thing-muh-jig. I often get insane roll rates with hardly any stick movement & i can't hang.) Hope you like it. Let me know if you need help or find a prob. Submitter StoneAxe1492 Submitted 07/01/2019 Category What If Hangar-

Where is or 'IS' there a SINGLEMISSION.INI IN SF2
Jon_Beers replied to Jon_Beers's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
That was funny...hadn't thought about that movie in awhile. I know the movie was 'Dumb' but it was funny. I challenged my X-brother-in-law to a bet that he could not sit through that movie with a straight face. He couldn't make it. He was serious up to the cop saying, 'shut you punkin pie hair cutt'd freak & give the booze if you know what's good for ya.' And then took a big chug of uh urine.- 11 replies

I had to change something: Haven't tested all the 'cats yet, but the ones i did had the inner spoilers sticking up all the time (could be my control stick stuff) so i changed the below to get them to stay down, and pop up when they r supposed to. Maybe the velocity threshold is to low or some such. But, I do think i recall the prob was also taking place on more than just the 'D' model (my Fav) I was working with. Lately have been messing around with the earlier jets (as Thirdwire intended.) I am having few issues. Personally, I've shot down several MiG-17s without excursions due to enemy fire or otherwise. That's not bad flying in a 'Hun". Those guys back in the 60s should have set the NVA pilots skill level to 'Normal.' Idiots! **************************************************** Uh..... I may have caused the problem with the spoilers. It possibly was caused with me turning the joystick sensitivity essentially off and or other monkeying around with files. I'll have to use the ole F6 button and take a peek in a fresh mod install soon. I remembered something. with Win Explorer copy the address to a mod install's aircraft folder Then paste it to a Command Prompt. Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601] Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. C:\Windows\System32>CD.. C:\Windows>CD.. C:\>CD C:\Users\JRDawg\Saved Games\Blah Blah\Aircraft <ENTER> C:\>\AIRCRAFT\DIR /B >AIRCRAFTLIST.LST <ENTER. If you open a Command Prompt and do this yours wont look like the above. I am sans SF1 or 2 on my laptop so made it op to look like my PCs. I would tidy up the inards of your new aircraft list then try copying it to Flight and Object folders. I don't know where it supposed 2 be. It may help with a few things. LIKE stop filling the A/C folder with all the stock planes after I deleted them again. (Leave some stock planes in there if that dont work.)
