Thanksgiving Coma? Autumn Avolition? Hibernation?

Yes I found that out! Reference the reset I could not even get to the workshop to do that - I was locking up at the intro screen -
Thanksgiving Coma? Autumn Avolition? Hibernation?

For me it was a change of work schedule that kept me grounded for the last 18 months. Mercifully I am back now and looking forward to getting back to flying. Had to do a re-install of OFF (for a still unknown reason!) and, despite copying the folder that held my saved pilot information, I must have missed something as they did not work. Ah well - I don't mind starting new careers. -
HPW FM and EW Campaign Mod 3.1 now available
DukeIronHand replied to Herr Prop-Wasche's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
With everyone seemingly in hibernation while waiting for WOFF I wanted to extend my thanks to you for your continued work with OFF. I have been on "extended leave" for about 18 months and am looking forward to giving this a try. I already have it d/l'ed and installed. And, as long as I am here, thanks to you also Lothar for your several recent mods. -
Correct "Brayelle" Location
DukeIronHand replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
For what its worth I used to teach map reading and land navigation for the U.S.M.C. On a civilian map it means a "landmark". We used to use it in the Marines (unofficially) to mark our objective since it stood out. I seem to have a faint memory of also using it being used to mark Commands Posts (or was it Listening Posts?) but am not sure. With the line thru it it must mean something. Maybe the Army (RAF_Louvert)or our European military friends have additional info. -
Posssible to have a observer "only" career?
DukeIronHand posted a topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Before I invest some of my limited flying time I thought I would throw this out to the old OFF hands here. I was thinking of trying a observer only career in a Fee or Bristol squadron as with a key stroke you can man the observers guns though I will admit to never having tried it. I also know I will have to have a pilot assigned to the squadron and my thought is to throw OFF on "autopilot" as soon as the mission starts and man the observers guns for the entire mission. So my question, never having tried it, is... Is the CFS3 autopilot feature capable of taking off, flying the mission, and then landing at my field in a believable fashion with no input from me or am I expecting too much from the old girl? -

Thank you gentlemen for the information and thoughts. And thank you Bletchley for the offer but it sounds like my little idea will have to wait for WOFF - if autopilot improvements are addressed or come happenstance because of AI improvements. -

Very interesting Olham and thanks for the translation. Based on the A/C types I will guess late 1916/early 1917?

Albatros first flight in Florida
DukeIronHand replied to elephant's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Always nice to see a WW1 A/C model flying. Without breaking out the books should not that plane, based on the lightning bolt on the side, have a green Jasta 5 tail? Belonging to....err...von Hippel? Or is one of the Golden Triumvirate? Man old age blows! -

Goodness people! This kind of like "your favorite plane" discussion or "who is hotter"! I don't think anyone is taking this too seriously... -

After 24 hours of thinking about it I am going to have "side" with Olham on this one. I like SimHQ and go there often to check on other sims but somehow I will always associate this CA forum with OFF/WOFF. This place is kind of like a broke-in pair of boots - its fits just fine. This may be a sign of old age I reckon! -

Did a quick check. Harris was the senor Flight Commander of 45 not the C.O. - at least in September 1917. Plus not the squadron I was thinking of at Cambrai. *sigh* Looking forward to winter so I can start OFF'ing more. Been dying to start my Camel career - got a 70 Squadron pilot ready to go. -

Without breaking out my books (or the internet these days) didn't Squadron 45 return to the Western Front in time to participate in the Battle of Cambrai with "Bomber" Harris as the CO? Or am I suffering a "senior moment"? And nice shots! -

Beautiful screenshots as always Olham. Reference the red Nieuport did not the French ace Jean Navarre (sp) use the color red for his aircraft? -
A day in the life of a pilot in the 94th Aero Squadron
DukeIronHand replied to Lothar of the Hill People's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Wow! I have it d/l'ed but never tried it as I thought it must be complicated but I must say it looks very cool. Will certainly give it a shot now. Great work!! -
Billy Bishop and the great airfield raid
DukeIronHand posted a topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I am a great fan of Billy Bishop - well, all WW1 fliers actually - but there has always been a big debate. Any WW1 aviation fan is aware of it - the great debate on Bishop's raid on a German aerodrome that greatly contributed to him getting the V.C. Over the years I have read much from both sides and heard him called both liar or a hero. Whats is the latest and greatest word? Has there ever been concrete proof from the German side that this event ever occurred? I remember that being the main argument against it - the lack of corresponding information from the Germans on this. Pro-Bishop people respond that most records of the German Jasta's were destroyed in WW2. And so the debate goes back and forth. What is the latest from historians and book writers? -
My system, while old, was "top of the line" years ago and over those years I have upgraded a little here and there and I am still impressed by its performance. My latest upgrade, with the assistance of RAF_Louvert, was an upgrading of my power supply to support my new GTX460 1GB (OC) video card. The point of this post is that, while shopping about, I was kind of amazed at how the prices of all sorts of hardware items have dropped. The above card only cost me $135.00. If your system is a little (or a lot) old you may be surprised at how you can kick your computer in its performance arse for very little coin. P4 is just around the corner.

The lack of multi-player does not concern me a whit with OFF in that P3 is such an outstanding single player experience that I do not even think about multi. And P4 should be even better. Edit: Gotta check my grammar prior to hitting "Post"

[Great job again Olham...I love the "history => modern photos" work you have been doing. -
...must be generating some buzz somewhere because it seems I am seeing a lot of new faces in the forums here. Glad its only two more weeks!
