Can't get A6 cockpit to work in Vietnam
1Patriot-of-many replied to 1Patriot-of-many's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Worked perfectly for the B model too in Vietnam! Thanks again to all of you. Now I gotta go through all the mods I have and see if they have an A6 in them. I suppose it would take a lot more to actually add A6's to a mod that doesn't have them already incorporated in? I'm still a bit daft as to all the files that would have to be edited ect to incorporate new planes into each mod I feel like....... -

Can't get A6 cockpit to work in Vietnam
1Patriot-of-many replied to 1Patriot-of-many's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I'm a little confused here, I have several versions in several mods of the A6 in the game menu but none of them have a cockpit except the A6 using the FOTI cockpit. The A6-A is working now, but the B, E ect have no cockpit in the game. Maybe i screwed up pasting all the objects/aircraft folders that were generic to the game in the mods, and those cockpits and planes simply don't exist as flyable? -

Thanks guys! Wrench you're the best, my hero. This has been driving me nuts for quite some time. Showing the folder and file save screen did the trick for me. Somehow I missed the directions or misplaced the cockpit folder, it was missing from the A6 folder. Thank you all for the quick responses! -
Step by step adding planes to mods?
1Patriot-of-many posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Hey guys, is there a step by step guide to adding planes to a SF2 mod? I want to add some more modern planes to the Falklands mod in a what if scenario. What files need to be edited? TIA -
Wing men crashing upon takeoff from carrier modern warfare Korea
1Patriot-of-many replied to 1Patriot-of-many's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
What's strange if I use the F18, I can fly off no problem, just my wingmen fly off and immediately crash and burn. Wouldn't all of us? I don't know squat about LODS or collision, what to look for. -
Wing men crashing upon takeoff from carrier modern warfare Korea

Anybody have a clue how to fix this glitch? My wingmen crash immediately when taking off from the carrier. If I pick the A6, my aircraft sinks through the deck and explodes. It's a great mod otherwise (Modern warfare Korea) but naval planes have some problems as noted. -

Mods for SF2 not having sufficient installation instructions
1Patriot-of-many posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I've been downloading and installing mods for Strike Fighters 2 like a crazy man. I keep running across incomplete instructions for the install. The majority that I haven't gotten to work is because they don't tell you to edit the campaign part of the options.ini file. You have to search around for the # and name of the campaign which somehow in my infernal idiocy I have managed to do with most of them. Kinda frustrating to click on campaign in the main screen and have it freeze up. I'm getting the hang of it figuring out the structure but I bet most dumbasses just give up and say it doesn't work. -

Will do. Sorry if anyone took offense, I also take offense at snide remarks. The site is great, modders are execllent and I appreciate all the hours that obviously went into them. Makes the game all the more playable for years to come. Yes I get frustrated when a mod locks up. And frankly sometimes I don't make myself clear in what I am saying. All's well with me as far as any animosity with anyone here. -

Clearly you were wrong in saying that section doesn't get edited. If pointing out the numerous mods that indeed have that section edited, well I guess that makes me rude and cocky. Sorry you took it that way. I don't know what mods you've downloaded, apparently none that have you edit the campaign section. -

Nope I only get the era specific campaign planes. Okay that made me wonder. I reinstalled Formosa on Europe.exe base making it formosa2, I must have deleted the aircraft files because most of the mods want you to do that originally. Now I got the A4, but still don't get that in campaign, just the era specific planes, but it worked. Must of done something wrong on the install. Weird though modifying the INI file made it work for several of the mods. Of course I sink M936A2 wreckers in my yard so no wonder. -

So why doesn't it show up when I create a campaign in this mod? I have all the programs thirdwire put out for the series. -

What's even stranger here, I don't even get that choice of plane when selecting US NAVY I get A-1J Skyraider, F11F-1A "tiger" , F3H2N Demon, F4D-1 SKyray How is the A4 even in that mod? -

Laugh away. If It freezes up when I hit the campaign button, what's your theory on not editing it manually, and why after editing it , it would work? What would be messed up on my computer? -

Not when they freeze up and do nothing. What would be the rationale for many campaigns to have you changing that then? -
Having a problem with Modern Warfare Korea. When using naval planes, my wingmen tilt forward during launch and then crash. Same when I tried using the A6 intruder. My plane sank through the deck and exploded. Any suggestions on a fix? Otherwise the mod works great.

Well somethings different then on my computer, shrugging shoulders, I've had numerous that I've had to edit, they would always lock up at the splash screen when pressing campaign. I've got all the main games, all the expansion packs. Don't know, just know what I've had to do to make them work. What does the campaign section in the options.INI show on yours? This is what I have to make it work [Campaign] CampaignName=590721 Operation Formosa Freedom PlayerService=USAF PlayerUnit=8th BS AircraftType=B-57B Difficulty=EASY Length=NORMAL AircraftSupply=NORMAL WeaponSupply=UNLIMITED LoadCampaign=FALSE CampaignSavename= -

Actually many do which is where I learned doing it. Have you actually installed any of the mods in the missions/Campaign section? Indian Ocean for one example. Falklands, Operation Darious, ODS, Black Sea, ect. ect...... * STEP 3: EDIT OPTIONS.INI * ---------------------------- This last step involves a bit of text editing, so please pay attention. Open the Options.INI file in your Mod Folder. Locate the "Single Mission" section. I recommend setting the StartYear= and EndYear= as follows: StartYear=1948 EndYear=2020 Finally, a little further down you should find the "Campaign" section. Replace it with the following: [Campaign] CampaignName=1987-1021 Southern Calm PlayerService=USN PlayerUnit=VF-103 Sluggers AircraftType=F-14A_82 Difficulty=HARD Length=NORMAL AircraftSupply=NORMAL WeaponSupply=LIMITED LoadCampaign=TRUE CampaignSavename=DefaultCampaignSave Save your changes and close the Options.INI file. * * * * * THAT'S IT. Your "SF2 Indian Ocean" mod should now be ready to use. You may consider installing some of the "optional" items as described in the next section. -

Feel free to explain then why mine would lock up when trying to play campaign before I changed this? Maybe I used a different main mod as the base? I've had several mods where they wouldn't work until I changed the number and name here. Have you guys downloaded and tried every mod in the campaign download section? Shrugging shoulder, only way I could get yours to work. As i noted in my posts on your download I'm still having an issue with the storm but other than that working good now. -

I believe it was this part but don't quote me at this point, the campaign name but I've had to edit a few without specific instructions as I noted, some mods don't have any instructions, some missing the campaign number and/or name in the readme, which is the whole point of the thread, if you look at replies on a lot of these mods, "not working" and they give up. I've given up on a few myself. I've gotten about 22 of the campaign mods working. Some I've had to figure out, most are good with readmes but there's more than a couple lacking, which defeats the modders purpose of having people use their mods if they don't understand the whole structure which myself i don't claim to, but slowly grasping my way around. [Campaign] CampaignName=Top Gun '70 PlayerService=USN PlayerUnit=VF-11 Red Rippers AircraftType=F-4B_67 Difficulty=EASY Length=NORMAL AircraftSupply=NORMAL WeaponSupply=UNLIMITED LoadCampaign=TRUE CampaignSavename=HP's Campaign 2.SAV
