Jagdgeschwader Nr.1 Rittmeister Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen's Albatros D.V 2059/17, circa August 1917. This skin features "washed" national fuselage insignia, green/mauve camouflage on wings, varying shades of red from overlapped coats of paint (visible in photographs, historians theorize the nose and tail were initially painted red before the rest of the fuselage was "filled in" with a thinner, translucent coat), Garuda propeller, wooden wing roots, square fuselage footstep, and port wing footstep.

Julius Arigi Alb D.III Oef
By sinbad
Julius Arigi (1895-1981) was the second highest scoring ace in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Unlike most aces, Arigi was an NCO. On August 22, 1916, enemy aircraft were reported to be approaching the Flik 6 airfield. Arigi sought permission to take off and attack them. Because there were no officers available, to fly with him as observers, permission was denied. Acting against direct orders, Arigi took off with another NCO in his in his Hansa-Brandenburg C.I and shot down 5 enemy Farmans in less than one half hour. He survived the war, as the most highly decorated NCO in the Austrian Army Air Service, with 32 confirmed victories. No Hanroit HD-1s were among them.
My time machine is no longer operational. These skins are interpretations, well-grounded interpretations, but certainly a mix of accuracy and flaws. I am aware of two variations from the photos and other sources. The rudder depicted is round at the trailing edge, rather than the straight. Both rounded and straight rudders were used on Alb D.III’s, but I would have preferred to use the straight edge type because there are photos of this plane which clearly show the straight edged rudder. Available models do not offer the straight rudder. Some Alb DIII OEF were filed modified by removal of the prop spinner, because some came loose in flight. Again the available models do not offer this variation. Modifications of this magnitude beyond my present skill. If you can do it, please contact me.
Many sources were consulted in the preparation of these skins, including: Dr. Martin O'Connor, Air Aces of the Austro-Hungarian Empire 1914-1918, Austro-Hungarian Aces of World War 1 by Chris Chant, Mark Rolfe (Illustrator) / Paperback / Osprey Publishing (February 2002), Above the War Fronts by Norman L. R. Franks, Russell Guest, Gregory Alegi / Hardcover / Grub Street (September 1997), Windsock Datafile #19 Albatros D.III (Oef)/ Grosz/Colours & Markings by Ray Rimmel , The Aerodrome Forum, R.N. Pearson profiles and other material on line.
Just drop the folder in your Albatros_D3OAW folder and select Julius Arigi, in the loadout screen. There is no need to edit the ini.
This skins is made available only for your personal use. Please no distribution or republication of any part of these files. I’d appreciate any comments, especially with links to source material. Have fun.

Late war Albatros DVa
By Chock
This is a slightly tweaked texture set for the standard FE Albatros DVa, to create the appearance of late war DVa, with a few changes to add some additional detail.
The main change is the lozenge pattern on the upper wing surfaces and the tailplane, which gives it a brighter look and alters the colours a bit. The underside of the tailplane also uses the 'upper' lozenge pattern to help portray the notion of some of the shortages experienced in the German aircraft industry as the war progressed. The fuselage wood has been changed to a slightly more reddish colour, which is based on the appearance of the 1960's Cole Palen replica, for no other reason than the fact that I like the colour of that one, and it adds a bit of variety. I've also added the weight data stenciling to the fuselage. The wheels have had the tire valve access hole and spokes added, there is also some exhaust smoke staining added to the stabiliser and elevator on the right side, and the Albatros Company logo has been added to the rudder, as it would have appeared on aircraft that had not been overpainted with fancier markings.
Feel free to mess around with this paint job, have fun with it, and bag a Frenchie for the Kaiser. Al 'Chock' Bradbury

Lt Wolff Jasta 5 Dva
By sinbad
I did these a long time ago and then forgot about them after an illness.
Lt Wolf Jasta 5
This is perhaps the most colorful skin applied to a Jasta 5 Albatross. Obviously a Bavarian, Ltn.d.R. Wolf(f) served with Jasta 5 from 25Jun17 to 8Aug17 when he was sent to the hospital when some sources do report that he died..
The spelling of his last name is 'iffy', could be one or two "f's".
Wolff was credited with a victory on July 27th but first victory might have been obtained when he was a pilot with FFA 45 in Sept 1916.
In which case his first name might be Walter and he might have two victories.
Enjoy.
Notes for update June 12, 2010 - I just re-discovered these files, which are a bit later than those previously posted. I have not examined them to determine why they were revised, but I obviously regarded these as improvements back in January 2009. This was a very challenging project that ran on over two years;many of the revisions were minor. So update your previous DL if you wish.

Papenmeyer Albatros DIII(OAW) skin
By Eugene2
Skin for AlbatrosD3OAW.
This is the skin of WW1 German fighter pilot Wilhelm Papenmeyer.
I tried to add some "photorealistic" textures for more impressive image of this aircraft.
There are two skins in this mini-pack - with ("Papenmeyer" folder) and without ("PapenmrClean" folder) "Red Eagle".
