About This File
On April 16th, 2024, Argentina finalized the purchase of 24 F-16 fighter jets from Royal Danese Air Force (RDAF) for approximately $300 million, representing its largest military investment in decades.
This agreement includes 24 F-16s, of which 8 will be F-16BM Block 15s and the remaining 16 will be F-16AM Block 10s.
The agreement also includes 4 flight simulators, 8 spare engines, a 5-year warranty on spare parts, and training for pilots and mechanics.
Part of the flight training is provided by TOP ACES, and part of the mechanical training by the United States Air Force and the Royal Danish Air Force.
The 24 aircraft will be based at the VI Air Brigade in Tandil, Buenos Aires, an air brigade currently undergoing modernization. This Air Brigade was formerly the headquarters for the IA-63 Pampa II and III Training System and, before that, the headquarters for the Mirage III and V Weapon System.
During the modernization of the VI Air Brigade, the F-16 Fighting Falcon Weapon System will be housed at the Río Cuarto Air Base (ARMACUAR or AMRIV), located in Las Higueras, Río Cuarto Department, Córdoba Province.
