ndicki Posted Wednesday at 09:34 AM Posted Wednesday at 09:34 AM Been away for a while, so I'm trying to catch up! A question I've always had is this: is it possible to model an SF2 aircraft in such a way that the player can control the gun turret while leaving the piloting to an AI pilot? Admittedly this isn't going to be much use in many post-WW2 aircraft, but it is one thing which prevents SF2 from being as good as CFS3 or IL-2 for WW2 combat...
Flanker562 Posted Wednesday at 10:18 AM Posted Wednesday at 10:18 AM I'm no modder but I never seen anybody do that. There may be a workaround, but I highly doubt it. I mean nobody has attempted it, and if they have, they didn't talk about it. 1
ndicki Posted Wednesday at 01:34 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 01:34 PM Well, it was worth asking... I suppose if someone had found a way to do it, they'd have made sure everybody knew! 1
Flanker562 Posted Wednesday at 02:37 PM Posted Wednesday at 02:37 PM Yeah my point exactly. My memory isn't the greatest sometimes, but I'm pretty sure nobody has either. 1
Menrva Posted Wednesday at 11:43 PM Posted Wednesday at 11:43 PM Not possible as far as I know, you can't control the direction of a gun turret from cockpit view, no such functions exist in the game. The closest thing is having a separate bomb sight in cockpit view, Stary made a cool one in his Il-28 cockpit. In it, you could use autopilot and switch to the bombsight station for dropping bombs with it. Nothing to do with gun turrets though, that's not possible. 1

While I was looking for one thing, I've just found another equally useful thing! Thanks. 1
Wrench Posted Thursday at 06:21 PM Posted Thursday at 06:21 PM The A-26 Invader has something like that too. Can't remember the exact "switch", but it drops you into the nose with the Norden bombsight. IIRC, Kesselbrut's Canberra pits do the same thing (the RAF ones, not the American ones)
