I mean I get by with my gaming laptops, but you know that AI chip is going to drive up prices, so $5070 just might be it. One reason I don't deal with PCs anymore. I can get a reasonable gaming laptop for a few thousand, and not spend a shit ton of money on a gaming desktop. I mean I know there are advantages, but my bank account wouldn't love me for it.

thats why i got a Xidax every time my VA rating went up (and i got a nice little backpay check)

the one im typing this on is my third system from them, and suffers from the curse of the threes.

but its still awesome, even when troublesome. and the 5080 (which was not the price) card takes whatever i throw at it across three screens like a champ.

I mean I can play DCS fine on my laptop, and produce good decent graphics. I mean I could make room on my coffee table to accommodate a PC, but I like the fact that I can take my stuff without bouncing between platforms.  I think I'm just a die hard laptop geek and fine with that.

understood.  notice the mention of "large backpay checks"

my desktop has 128GB ram. since discovered that i dont really need that much. but i could afford it at the time.

and its pretty trippy to make a game level in Unreal at home that straight blue screens the Alienware systems at school

Yeah I mean I can reasonably afford a good system, I looked into Alienware laptops, but for now my machine works, for like A3 and DCS, and of course SF2, and Star Citizen, and so on, so maybe in the future if I didn't travel every now and then I'd look into it, but again, I just don't need to bounce between two systems when I can put everything in a vulnerable state. That and I had to get a new laptop earlier this year due to negligence with a Mocha drink, totally ruined my laptop. So if I had a desktop I would mess up the keyboard, and either wash it out or replace it, whereas I had to get a new system entirely, so yeah, who knows I may change my mind.

work with Alienwares at school. not too impressed

thats with keeping in mind that its an institution not a person so they gotta get 6-7 years out of them minimum. but still

maybe they'll have brand new systems come fall. we'll see

and as i point out to my wife, a keyboard is way easier to replace than a laptop. that conversation happening regularly after kicking her cat off of my laptop......
