+Dave Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Does anyone besides me think the engine sounds are too loud? I have ridden in a F-4 so had Wolf257 and with the helmet on you couldnt hear much. Even in AB it didnt get much louder. My point is I am thinking about flushing the sounds to make them quiter. But need somE thoughts on it. Quote
Fubar512 Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Easy...wear a helmet while you're playing! Quote

Caesar Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Personally, I think it depends on which engine effect you're talking about. The afterburner effect Xle2 bugs the heck outta me, which is why I usually replace it with JetBurner or something else; too loud and too high-pitched for my taste, but to each their own. Quote
Guest zerocinco Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 With a helmet on, all you can hear is a whine. AB is a rumble. The most correct sound is the breathing. Who thought of that? Quote
Agamemnon Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 The sounds can be toned down easily with out flushing them. This can be done with sound recorder which is included in windows...it can be found under start/programs/accessories/entertainment/sound recorder. Once you choose the sound you want go to effects and decrease sound to your liking. Works both ways if you have a sound that is to low just increase. Don't forget to save Quote
eightlein Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 maybe tone it down a hair....the noise is part of the rush for us only in your dreams drivers.:( Quote
+baffmeister Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 Does anyone besides me think the engine sounds are too loud? There is a file you can tweak to reduce the cockpit noise. In the soundlist ini. you will find these entries. [JetEngine] Priority=NORMAL 3DSound=TRUE DopplerEffect=TRUE Looped=TRUE FrequencyControl=TRUE NumBuffers=4 MaxDist=1500.000000 MinDist=100.000000 InsideConeAngle=60 OutsideConeAngle=180 ConeOutsideVolume=90 Try reducing this to 20. [JetBurner] Priority=NORMAL 3DSound=TRUE DopplerEffect=TRUE Looped=TRUE NumBuffers=4 MaxDist=2000.000000 MinDist=100.000000 InsideConeAngle=60 OutsideConeAngle=90 ConeOutsideVolume=40 Try 20 here as well. Any adjustments made to these entries will effect any add on engine sounds as well. The cone angles seem to define the loud and quiet areas. After editing the soundlist Ini. put it in the flight folder. Hope this helps. Cheers. Quote
