+Dagger Posted March 5, 2003 Author Posted March 5, 2003 sorry they are from an upcoming campain...was testing 2 things at once... Quote
+Deuces Posted March 6, 2003 Posted March 6, 2003 Those last couple are looking good Dagger! SDirickson--those textures are the terrain textures for the Cuba Campaign we are working on "Operation Tainted Cigar". Hmm I guess that could also be the name of Bill Clintons Autobiography. :D Quote
SDirickson Posted March 6, 2003 Posted March 6, 2003 Thats sick but oh so true. Anyway, good looking textures. BTW, I've wanted to know from the beginning, how many different types of tiles can SF handle? Seems like there are only five different 'sets' that you can modify. Lets see, in the original you have desert, mountain, farm, city and water. Not a lot to play with, having only four different land tiles. Quote
+Deuces Posted March 6, 2003 Posted March 6, 2003 SDirickson Good question. It gets a little tricky but you could concievably(sp) get another type in there Wolf257 and I were just having this conversation as he needs to do this very thing with his Viet Nam map. I'm going to do a little experimenting with a second mountain type.....I hate the fact that above a certain hieght the terrain defaults to the one mountain type tile. The next step is that for each tile you create, you have to create transition tiles as well. I'll let you know how it pans out. Quote
SDirickson Posted March 6, 2003 Posted March 6, 2003 Yeah, the transition tiles are a bit tricky. I had a bit of fun making 'em for some generic terrain for X-Plane. The hard part is making textures that repeat seamlessly and still look good. If you guys can figure out how to add more terrain types, that'll be excellent. You could then even port in the terrain from sims like Falcon 4.0 or Flanker 2.5. Quote
+Dagger Posted March 6, 2003 Author Posted March 6, 2003 not yet...got a bmp ready but I can't seem to find the right place...still working on it..sent TK a message asking him about it..any ideas w0ould be appricated Quote
