Yes, i messed it in 3ds, plane stands properly (on 3 point) but the plane is rotating very slowly...so maybe after 20 sec it touches the ground with its nose :)

 

You may want to look at the CGPosition too.

That is terrible. I hope he comes back. He has really good ideas and seems like a nice guy. It would be something to see Bortafarm collaborate with the rest of you gurus of modding too. The incremental improvements from such collaboration could do justice to what is a truly outstanding model by Bortafarm. I wish I made the Eindecker model! It is def a fine plane.

 

Well lets hope he comes back. It is a shame for sure. All TS and Charles were trying to do is help them.

When I start manouvering the plane has all sorts of behaviour issues.

 

These lift values arnt enough to get it off the ground. But it does fly... this is a bit strange to me.

Tex, I got it to take off by raising the CLa= on just the bottom left and right wing sections of the stock data.ini to 1.662. I think you'll need some inertia values for the 3 axis to help with the control response. I used the formula in the Editing Notes. Mind you I'm just playing around pluggin in values from other aircraft wings of similar size...gonna need to do some more research. BTW...compared to the wings of some other planes those drag values CD0 and CDL look high. Most figures you see for bi-plane wing sections are in the 0.00XX range. Wish I knew more about how to do the actual math...if thats what's required.

 

I hate to see Bort go off like that. He's a little touchy but quitting the forum sure wasn't necessary. :dntknw:

There is a v2 model of the Eindekker up on Borts website.

 

That could be a good sign.

Hallo! Can anyone tell me, why does my N.28 rotates around his wheel rotatation axe, ant toches the ground with the nose at the end. It happends when it stands on the airfield with power 0?

EmlD...Check your "IdleProp=" RPM in the Engine section of your data.ini. If its 500 try lowering it to 150 or something similar. Sounds like torque effects to me.

Thanx Capun, it helped... i just mooved the Y to -0.20 :) and perfect!

 

Yesterday i recalculated the EmptyInertia for Nieuport28

 

First i had to find out the right Rx,y,z values for biplanes...

There in "StrikeFightersEditingInfo" doc, where values are

Light Twin .373 .269 .461 (Light Twin = Biplane in FE?????)

or have i to add this to get values for biplane?

 

Single Low Wing .248 .338 .393

Single High Wing .242 .397 .393

 

 

I equalized the EmptyInertia from SPAD13 to get Rx,y,z value for biplanes:

FE_SPAD .396 .387 .548

And what is yours? Is it used for all biplanes?

 

But one question i have still,

 

 

W=gross takeoff weight (lb) ---> why takeoff???? there in data.ini is used only Empty mass value?

Thanx Tailspin, it helped me yesterday to reduce the plane rotation speed....but with udjusting of the Y valu of CG....my problem were solwed. :wink:

EmlD...You could calculate the "constant" values by using the Inertia values and woring back and solving for Rx, ect. Using the SPAD data:

 

(W/g)*(Rx*b/2)^2=Inertia X

 

(1255.1/32.2)*(Rx*27/2)^2=1542

 

Do the same for Y and Z.

 

Those values should work for all the bi-planes then...right?...maybe?

Yep, i did it, here are the constants: (counted from SPAD data) Rx=0.396, Ry=0.387, Rz=0.548....

I am shure Capun did smth in that way and i asked, if he and other mates dot the same o equal values? :dntknw: ...

I'm guessing the formula wants gross takeoff weight because that is the actual "flying" weight with fuel, ammo, etc added to the empty weight. I believe the sim actually adds these values in. Some aircraft have significant differences between empty and gross weight.

I does add stuff up. SPAD 12 felt much heavier when I was testing it with about 50 cannon shells on board.:smile:

Yeah! The formula wonts gross waight W, but where do i take the SPADs gross waight from?

1. There is no gross W for SPAD in data ini....

2. If i use W from book or Wikipedia...for getting the constant Rx,y,z, it could be not the same W value, that TridW used by calculating the EmptyInertia for SPAD...

and doing this mistake i getting wrong CONSTANT Rx,y,z for biplanes in FE for further calculations of EInertias

Huh... there might be a way to calculate the gross weight roughly...

According to edit notes the maximum fuel amount is in kg. Add it.

Then open Gundata.ini file. Find the weapon you have on your plane. Look at ammo weight(I suppose) and multiply it by the number of rounds you've set up.. don't know if it is in grams or kg there...

Charles, that FM stalls in a very peculiar way. I fly on Hard. Actually, it stalls the exactly the same way as Gotha - just takes a sudden nose dive for several hundred meters.

 

By the way, the v2 model(the 3D model) looks even better. The only issue is that prop stops at low throttle and you can see than it's fixed a a bit wrong on the axis. I do hope bortdafarm will fix this.

I generally fly on Normal (Hard is much more time-consuming to get the FMs exactly right, and Normal is good enough for my interests).

 

The prop is not fully animated in the model, I think - the engine rotates nicely but the prop stays stationary for a bit before "catching up". It is only a small glitch in what is otherwise a very nice model, though. I also hope Bortdafarm says around here - he has made a lot of contributions to this sim already

I am just learning this stuff. Dude, you guys are smart! I can't believe you guys got it up and flying in the time you did, much less get the plane down to minor problems liike above. I was sitting here with a calculator scratching my head. Since everyone else is too buzy to do it I am going to take the time to laugh at my own self.

He made a great EIII thats for damn sure!! ! :this:

 

A few other guys and I are flying FE online now and then. Soon, when there`s enough aircraft available, like EIII versus DH2, N17 versus AlbDII, N28 versus Alb DIII and such, I am going to try and convince them to dl most addon planes out there, so we can do some all-round Coop/Dogfightin :D

Would hate Bortadafarm to miss that !

Thanks Charles....I was looking over Borts original. I know he didn't mean it to be anything but something to get the model in the air but there were some odd things in it like the nose being the parent component for the wings etc. I see you've also got the wing warp working. Sombody needs to get ahold of Bort so he can get his FM for his excellent E.III and complete the package. :good:

I think everyone's a little touchy. I mean who moderates the moderators ?

 

Moderators pass judgement on the tone that other people use, but who checks a moderator's tone ... and survives ?

 

A moderator might like to sit back occasionally and look at what he has posted himself, and then decide whether he could have handled it better.

 

From a detached point of view, there looks to me like faults on both sides.

 

I'm just offering this observation in a friendly manner. I'm not naming names, and I'm replying to Tailspin, only as a means of attaching to this thread. No criticism is implied to him or anyone else specifically. I am merely making a general point. I know that I can irritate people very easily by my own tone, so I am apologising in advance: Please don't anybody get touchy about it.

 

I'll miss Bort too, because I enjoyed conversing with him, even if we disagreed. But I'm sure he'll show up on TK's site and he has his own web page. What I liked about him was his enthusiasm, and enthusiasm is a fragile thing.

I'm echoing IB here. After being away from the thread for a while I just read the last 3-4 pages, and it was like watching a car wreck about to--and then, sadly--happen...

 

In email or forums, "economy of speech" in words/text used will get you into trouble, people read between the lines on both sides, and misunderstandings happen. I've been burned, now twice shy. It isn't constructive to point out another persons weak points regardless of what was meant earlier in the thread.

 

If this was Bort's first plane, or his 100th, it was his creation and he just wanted some space for him and others to enjoy it -- flaws and all--- before people tore into it. Me included [albeit on a minor point], and I apologized, and still do.

 

Creative genius comes at a cost, I hope he doesn't decide to go away. It will be hard for him to return, and a test of character for him -- all of us -- if he does.

 

 

IMHO only... Hey, who the H___ am I anyways...
