FOTF Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 I am trying to make gas tanks for my Tomcats. I have most of em painted, but I cannot figure out the weapons editor. Everytime I go through the steps in the knowledge base, I end up with no weapons at all. Any help would be most appreciated Quote
jtin Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Did you click "save" instead of "save as"? Clicking save creates a Weaponsdata.dat. What did you do? What went wrong? And it's not a trick... it's a full time proffesion. Quote
FOTF Posted June 13, 2007 Author Posted June 13, 2007 Yeah, clicked "save"....I followed the knowledge base to a T. If I knew what went wrong, I wouldn't have had to post here asking for help! Quote
HrntFixr Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 I click "save as" when adding new stuff and it works for me. Quote
Lexx_Luthor Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 I have found that if you make a mistake in the text file, the weapon concerned often vanishes from the text file after you run WE. Very frustrating if its not backed up. Poast your new tank data and we can it run it up. We can make it use any weapon LOD model we already have so it will work in abstract. Just need the text data. Wrench Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Paul, are they squadron specific tanks??? Are the lods hex edited to match the skin bmps??? or are you just losing the entire weaponsdata.ini?? Sounds like something similiar to what I did to fix the Zipper fuel tanks (and carlo, if you're reading this...I haven't forgotten your tanks, just haven't gotten to them yet) Wrench kevin stein Quote
FOTF Posted June 13, 2007 Author Posted June 13, 2007 Well, I thought I had hex edited all there was to edit...I am a little rusty with the old hex program, so it is very possible I missed something. How many entries for the bmp is in the LOD? Quote
Wrench Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 I just checked the TANK330_F14.LOD, and there's just one entry. Just remember, it has to stay within the total number of characters (11 in this case). You call call it anythin you want (to match the bmps), but just 11 max. Wrench kevin stein Quote
FOTF Posted June 14, 2007 Author Posted June 14, 2007 Yup...in that case, the hex editing was done correctly. Quote
+Sundowner Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Are the tanks not showing at all? or are they there but just white? If you want mate, pm me your stuff and I'll look over it tonight. Quote
FOTF Posted June 14, 2007 Author Posted June 14, 2007 Well, I hex edit them, and then fire up the editor and follow the step's USAFMTL listed in the knowledge base, and then when I start the game and go to the load out screen to check out my new tanks....there are no weapons at all....no missles, no gunpods, ECM devices...nothing. I have to restore my old weapon pack install to get them back..... I will pack everything up and PM you a link, thanks! Quote
+Crusader Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 sounds like you use an old weaponeditor get the latest version here http://www.thirdwire.com/downloads_tools.htm Quote
FOTF Posted June 14, 2007 Author Posted June 14, 2007 Could be...it's what came in the last weapon pack I downloaded Quote
