I think the ShockStroke entry is simply the amount that you would like to move the particular mesh or meshes, the actual Shock mesh doesn't always have to be the the main part, it could be a child of something else...axel for example. The controlling element is the mesh that you've set your "ShockAnimationID=" to.....if you get what I mean . Hopefully one of our 3d experts can explain it a little better.

McDonnell RF-4X Phantom II UPDATED w download
Sundowner replied to dtmdragon's topic in Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
If trying to get a file that is hosted here but no longer works for some reason is considered necro threading, then why are all these old obsolete downloads still available ?? Not a dig, just a sensible question. -
I'm no expert here, but this is how I usually see it. ShockStroke=the length of movement the your Shock absorber mesh moves when landing or taking off. SpringFactor= how hard your springs are ie, too hard and your shock absorber wont compress when the aircraft is on the ground. DampingFactor= how "bouncy" your springs are....not enough damping and your aircraft will appear to bounce and wobble when sat on the runway etc. You Will find that you usually have to mess around with them all to get a satisfactory result. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the update, we are thinking about you and your family Volker.

Holy moly ! Sorry to hear this Volker. You just concentrate on your recovery. Thinking of you my friend.

That is very strange, all my SF2 installs have worked perfectly on Win 10 for me. I've not had to make any changes to anything.

No idea mate, I just have mine closed as I rarely carry anything in the forward bays... -

Just a thought....the rear end of those bays have something called "Flipper Doors" that close to create a smooth ramp type area to smooth the airflow when the wells are empty or as soon as the missile has been fired......just to complicate matters even more.. -

Your dad is sorely missed, we worked on many things together. RIP my friend.

Disable the right-click for the quad menu
Sundowner replied to GKABS's topic in Mods & Skinning Discussion
Whenever this happens to me I usually re-install direct X9.0c . It usually cures it for a while then it'll rear it's ugly head again. I'm using the same fix as Jimbib posted as well but I'm on win 10. -

I think I had it working on my CF-100 model ....and the B57's I did....."think" being the key word here.

View File South East Asia 1964-74 This is part 1 of a 2 part pack, you WILL need both parts for it to work correctly. This is my version of a South East Asia terrain, it has been many years in the making but is still not complete or finished. But considering that my modding years are coming to an end I thought I'd release it anyway. The area north of the DMZ is a real mess target wise as it's an area I've never been interested in, I personally fly CAS/Armed-Recon in the Central Highlands area. This is a 250 meter map with 600+ tiles and TOD's so you need a fairly powerful machine to run it. There's over 450 new ground objects never been released before, all made by myself so any errors there are entirely down to me. Over the years I've got help and advice off dozens of different modders. They have been the inspiration for me to continue this far, so while they are too many to mention we should a remember that without the modding community this sim/game would of died many years ago. This package contains work and ideas from many of the great terrain experts. A great big THANK YOU to everyone I've worked with in the past. If you are new to the SF simming world, please don't bother whining and screaming about all the little oddities you may find that you don't like, just download the tools needed from here at CombatAce and fix them. Believe me when I say "you've never had it so good" Please read the readme or you WILL mess up your install and it will all be your own fault. ................................................................ It was the stock TW airbase issues that got me started on doing my own......... -

It happens when the "Flat Objects" eg parking area's etc are not placed low enough in 3ds Max, there's a very fine line between making them so low as they dont show at all, or positioning them a few inches above the terrain which then causes the Z buffer fighting issue. I've come across it a few times when making my bases, just because they appear to be made at 0.0 on the Z axis very often they're not, I have all my runways, taxiways etc,etc set at 15cm above "ground level" in 3ds max which seems to be the sweet spot for me. -
