Anyone care to help teach an old dog a new trick?

Recommended Posts

I am trying to make gas tanks for my Tomcats.

I have most of em painted, but I cannot figure out the weapons editor. Everytime I go through the steps in the knowledge base, I end up with no weapons at all.

Any help would be most appreciated

Did you click "save" instead of "save as"? Clicking save creates a Weaponsdata.dat.

What did you do?

What went wrong?

And it's not a trick... it's a full time proffesion.

Yeah, clicked "save"....I followed the knowledge base to a T.

If I knew what went wrong, I wouldn't have had to post here asking for help!

I click "save as" when adding new stuff and it works for me. :dntknw:

I have found that if you make a mistake in the text file, the weapon concerned often vanishes from the text file after you run WE. Very frustrating if its not backed up.

Poast your new tank data and we can it run it up. We can make it use any weapon LOD model we already have so it will work in abstract. Just need the text data.

Paul, are they squadron specific tanks??? Are the lods hex edited to match the skin bmps???

or are you just losing the entire weaponsdata.ini??

Sounds like something similiar to what I did to fix the Zipper fuel tanks

(and carlo, if you're reading this...I haven't forgotten your tanks, just haven't gotten to them yet)

Well, I thought I had hex edited all there was to edit...I am a little rusty with the old hex program, so it is very possible I missed something.

How many entries for the bmp is in the LOD?

I just checked the TANK330_F14.LOD, and there's just one entry.

Just remember, it has to stay within the total number of characters (11 in this case). You call call it anythin you want (to match the bmps), but just 11 max.

Well, I hex edit them, and then fire up the editor and follow the step's USAFMTL listed in the knowledge base, and then when I start the game and go to the load out screen to check out my new tanks....there are no weapons at all....no missles, no gunpods, ECM devices...nothing. I have to restore my old weapon pack install to get them back.....

I will pack everything up and PM you a link, thanks!
